Amazon’s newer tablets are Android devices with parent-managed Google Play access—so comparisons based on older Fire Kids models are out of date. The choice is mainly between Amazon’s smaller, lower-priced option and Kids+ bundle, or Samsung’s 11-inch Galaxy tablet, larger stated storage, Samsung Kids mode and included stylus accessories. Prices and launch details below are U.S. manufacturer listings checked October 9, 2026.
Which products are being compared?
Amazon announced a new Android-based Amazon Kids Tablet family in October 2026, with 8.7-inch and 11-inch models. The 8.7-inch tablet is positioned for ages 3 and up; the 11-inch model for ages 6 and up. Amazon announced U.S. shipping from October 14, 2026, with selected European markets beginning October 19. Samsung’s current U.S. kids bundle is the Galaxy Tab A11+ Kids Edition, an 11-inch tablet bundle that Samsung said became available on Amazon.com on April 23, 2026. These are manufacturer-announced schedules and availability, not a guarantee of current stock. Amazon’s announcement and Samsung’s launch announcement have the launch details.

Samsung’s up-to-15-hour estimate is based on local 720p playback with the default player, full screen, brightness at 162 nits, earbuds at volume 7, and Wi-Fi and mobile network turned off; Samsung says actual results vary. That controlled estimate is not directly comparable to Amazon’s stated figure. Samsung’s launch release also specifies a 3.5 mm headphone jack and quad speakers with Dolby Atmos. #1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. How do the parental controls and child profiles differ?
Amazon Parent Dashboard
Amazon says Parent Dashboard comes preinstalled and is also available as an iOS and Android app. Parents can manage screen-time limits, content filters, activity monitoring, Learn First goals, web-browsing controls, and pausing or resuming a child’s device. Amazon says parents can create profiles for up to four children. On the new tablets, Google Play access is parent-managed and each download requires parental approval. This is a distinct, newer Amazon product family; it should not be treated as equivalent to older Fire Kids tablets when describing app access.
Samsung Kids
Samsung Kids is preloaded on the Galaxy Tab A11+ Kids Edition. Samsung describes controls for screen time, apps, contacts and content, with a PIN that must be set manually for parental controls. Samsung’s support instructions also describe up to six child profiles, activity monitoring, schedules and bedtime, allowed content, and app controls. Feature and content availability can vary by country, model and operating-system version. See Samsung’s product page and Samsung’s setup and controls instructions.

Both offer parent controls; the difference is the management workflow and surrounding platform. Amazon centers its new tablets on Parent Dashboard and Amazon’s child-content services, while Samsung uses Samsung Kids within a Galaxy tablet environment. A household’s familiarity with either platform may matter more than the number of controls listed.
What content and subscriptions come with each tablet?
Amazon Kids+
Amazon includes one year of Kids+ with each new Amazon Kids Tablet. Amazon describes Kids+ as age-curated books, videos, apps, games and audiobooks. Its October 2026 announcement lists ongoing U.S. pricing of $7.99 per month for Prime members and $8.99 per month for non-Prime customers. Those rates and subscription terms can change. Amazon’s separate help page distinguishes a free Amazon Kids child profile from paid Kids+ content, but that page specifically addresses Fire tablets, so its details should not automatically be assumed to describe every feature of the new Android tablets. Amazon’s tablet announcement and its Amazon Kids and Kids+ help page provide the stated information.

Samsung’s ABCmouse offer
Samsung advertises six weeks of ABCmouse with the Galaxy Tab A11+ Kids Edition. Treat this as a promotional trial rather than a permanent part of the bundle: Samsung says memberships renew unless canceled, but its product page does not state the current post-trial price. Check the offer and renewal terms before activating it. Samsung’s product page has the offer details.
Which one fits your child and household?
Choose the Amazon Kids Tablet 8 if size and starting price come first
- It is the lowest-priced option by the listed U.S. starting prices, at $229.99, and the smaller 8.7-inch size is positioned for ages 3 and up.
- Its 64 GB of stated storage and included case and one year of Kids+ make the bundle straightforward for a younger child, provided the current price and subscription terms suit your budget.
- It is the clearest fit if parent-managed Google Play access on the new Amazon tablets and Amazon’s Kids+ content are priorities.
Compare the two 11-inch models if you want a larger screen
- Amazon’s 11-inch model starts at $329.99 and lists a 2.5K display, 8 GB RAM, one year of Kids+, and stylus support. The announcement does not state its storage capacity.
- Samsung lists its bundle at $349.99 before trade-in, with 128 GB storage, microSD expansion up to 2 TB, a 1920 × 1200 display, and a case, Crayo-Pen, tether and stickers.
- Samsung’s bundle is a candidate for families already using Galaxy devices or wanting Samsung Kids and a conventional Galaxy tablet environment. That is a platform fit, not evidence of superior performance.
- Do not infer which tablet is faster or has better real-world battery life from RAM, resolution or manufacturer battery estimates alone; the cited material provides no independent head-to-head testing.
Check the full cost, not just the first price
Compare the live transaction price with the cost of any subscription after its included period or promotional trial. Amazon’s listed Kids+ rates are monthly U.S. prices, while Samsung’s cited offer is a six-week ABCmouse trial whose current renewal price is not stated on the product page. Confirm current terms before purchase or activation.

What should buyers verify before ordering?
- Current U.S. price and stock: Amazon’s launch announcement gives starting prices and a shipping schedule; Samsung’s product page lists a price before trade-in. Retailer pricing, inventory and promotions can change.
- Country and model: The prices above are U.S. figures. Verify local product names, launch availability, app catalogs, parental-control features and subscription terms elsewhere.
- Age and screen size: Amazon identifies separate age bands for its two models; Samsung’s bundle is 11 inches. Those are product-positioning details, not individualized age or safety recommendations.
- Storage needs: The cited Amazon announcement states 64 GB for the 8.7-inch tablet but does not state storage for its 11-inch model. Samsung states 128 GB and microSD support up to 2 TB in its launch release.
- Accessories and replacement parts: Both include a case, and Samsung includes its pen accessories. The cited material does not establish whether compatible replacement parts are sold separately.
Samsung also states a commitment of up to seven generations of Android OS/One UI upgrades and up to seven generations of security updates for the Galaxy Tab A11+ Kids Edition. This is a vendor support commitment, not a specific calendar end date. Samsung’s launch announcement gives the commitment.
