Compare the landed cost—item price, shipping, tax, delivery time, return effort and quality risk—not the price shown on the product page.
The right choice depends on what is in your basket, where it is being shipped and how costly a bad item would be to return or replace. The guide below shows how to make that comparison without mistaking a low sticker price for a low-cost purchase.

Amazon Haul: Amazon’s low-price storefront
Amazon Haul is a separate low-cost selection inside Amazon rather than a promise that every item on Amazon has been discounted. Amazon’s launch description, reported by the Associated Press in 2024, positioned the selection at $20 or less, with most products below $10. The same launch terms described free delivery on orders over $25 and delivery in roughly one to two weeks.

Amazon said in 2025 that the selection had grown to more than one million items priced under $10, with many more under $5, and that the service had expanded to 25 locations. Those figures describe the size and reach of the program at the time of the announcement; stock, eligibility and availability can change by country and by account.
The practical advantage is continuity. You can use an existing Amazon account, saved address and familiar order-support flow. The selection is curated around very low prices, so it is most useful for low-risk items where a known Amazon checkout and support process is worth more than the absolute lowest possible sticker price.
Temu: a broad, cross-category marketplace
Temu is designed for breadth. Its catalog commonly spans home organization, storage, small tools, accessories, consumer electronics, craft supplies and impulse products, alongside clothing and beauty items. A single cart can therefore contain unrelated product types, but those products may come from different sellers or fulfillment locations.
That breadth makes Temu a natural comparison point for a mixed household basket. It also means that delivery dates, packaging, specifications and after-sale handling may differ from one listing to the next. Read the individual listing rather than assuming that the marketplace name alone tells you how an item will be fulfilled.
SHEIN: fashion first, with adjacent categories
SHEIN is primarily a fashion platform. Its low prices and rapid trend turnover appeal especially to younger shoppers, with apparel, shoes, jewelry, bags and other accessories forming the core use case. The company has also expanded into home and beauty categories, but those additions do not remove the need to evaluate clothing measurements, materials and care instructions.
For apparel, the cheapest item is not necessarily the cheapest outfit. A poor fit, transparent fabric, uncomfortable hardware or a return that costs time and postage can erase the initial saving. Product measurements and recent customer photos deserve as much attention as the displayed price.

The last two terms are not always dollar amounts. A low-priced phone case that arrives after a trip has no practical value for that trip. A cheap dress that fits badly may require a return, a second order and extra time. Treat those consequences as part of the purchasing decision rather than as separate annoyances.
Shipping thresholds can reverse a ranking
Amazon Haul’s launch terms tied free delivery to orders above $25. If your cart is below that threshold, add the quoted shipping charge before comparing it with Temu or SHEIN. If your cart is just above it, adding an unwanted item merely to qualify is not a saving; compare the total paid with a smaller order that includes shipping.
Temu and SHEIN may show different shipping offers by country, promotion, seller or basket value. The amount displayed at checkout is the relevant figure. A product page showing a lower item price does not win if its delivery charge makes the final total higher.
Tax, duties and currency
Tax treatment and import handling depend on the buyer’s country and the shipment. Confirm whether tax is collected at checkout and whether the quoted total includes every charge the carrier may require. Compare all three carts in the same currency and for the same delivery address; otherwise the apparent difference is not meaningful.

Two items with the same final price are not equivalent if one can be returned through a simple label and the other requires international postage, a strict time limit or seller negotiation. Before paying, record the return deadline, who pays shipping, whether partial refunds are possible and whether the item is excluded from returns.
Which marketplace has the right assortment?
For a fashion-led basket
Start with SHEIN when most of the basket is clothing or accessories built around current trends. Filter by the exact garment measurements, inspect the fabric composition and read recent reviews for comments about opacity, stretch, seams and color. If the basket mixes clothing with unrelated household products, compare the non-fashion items separately; Temu may be stronger for those.
For a mixed household basket
Temu is the broad general-goods option. It is suited to storage pieces, desk accessories, basic tools, decorative items and other products where many designs and specifications are available. Use listing-level checks because two visually similar products can differ in dimensions, materials, included parts or power requirements.

For a hard price ceiling
Amazon Haul fits a basket in which each item must remain within a defined low-price limit. Its selection is useful for small household accessories, simple organizers, non-critical toys and similar products. The ceiling does not make an item automatically reliable; it only makes the pricing rule easier to apply.
Delivery: what to expect and how to check it
Amazon’s 2024 launch description gave Haul an approximate one-to-two-week delivery window. Treat that as a launch-era estimate, not a universal promise. The delivery date shown for your address and item is more useful, especially when the service has expanded into additional locations.
Temu and SHEIN orders can vary because products may ship from different warehouses or sellers. A cart can arrive in multiple parcels, and one delayed line item does not necessarily indicate that the rest of the order is late. Check whether the listing shows a dispatch location, an estimated arrival range and separate tracking numbers.
Before ordering, check these five fields
- The estimated arrival date for your exact postal code.
- Whether the item is dispatched domestically or cross-border.
- Whether the order may be split into multiple parcels.
- What happens if the parcel misses the stated window.
- Whether the delivery estimate changes after you add the item to the cart.
If the product is needed for a fixed date, value the latest promised arrival rather than the average-looking estimate. A small price difference is rarely worth missing an event or project deadline.
Returns and refunds by marketplace
Amazon Haul’s specific cutoff
Amazon’s current policy gives Haul items priced above $3 a 15-day return window. Items priced at $3 or less are final sale and non-refundable. Check the order’s return page because eligibility can also depend on the product category, condition and destination. Keep packaging and accessories until you have confirmed that the item works and fits.

Temu’s generally broader window, with exceptions
Comparisons commonly describe Temu as offering a longer return period than Amazon Haul, but the applicable term can vary by country and item category. Read the policy shown for the specific order. Some products may have hygiene, personalization, consumable or other exclusions, and a longer nominal window does not remove the need to follow the required condition and documentation rules.
SHEIN’s category and country differences
SHEIN return conditions also depend on the buyer’s country and the product category. Clothing that has been worn, washed or stripped of tags may not qualify even when the order is within the stated period. Beauty and intimate products can have additional restrictions. Save the order confirmation and inspect the item promptly so a problem is found while a return is still available.

How to compare return friction
- Open the return policy from the exact product or order page, not only the marketplace’s general help page.
- Note the deadline in calendar days and the event that starts the clock.
- Check whether the first return is free and whether later returns from the same order incur a fee.
- Confirm the refund method and the expected processing time.
- Decide whether the effort is sensible for the item’s value before ordering several uncertain variants.
Quality and safety: where the cheapest option is the wrong option
Low price is not evidence of adequate materials, construction or compliance. For every listing, verify the dimensions, material, included components, power specifications and seller information. Search the relevant government or manufacturer recall database when a product could cause injury, fire, electrical shock or exposure. A marketplace review cannot substitute for a safety certification or recall check.

- Sort by newest reviews to detect changes in materials or suppliers.
- Compare reviewer measurements with the listing’s dimensions.
- Look for repeated complaints about missing parts, odors, overheating, breakage or inaccurate sizing.
- Discount reviews that describe a different color, model or bundle than the one you selected.
- Check whether the listing has enough independent detail to justify the risk; if it does not, choose a more documented alternative.
A repeatable way to compare the same basket
- Define the basket. Write down the exact item type, quantity, color, size, specification and required arrival date. Do not compare a small or lower-spec substitute with the original item.
- Collect three listings. Choose one suitable listing from Amazon Haul, Temu and SHEIN where each marketplace actually carries the product. Record the seller, dimensions, materials, included parts and review date.
- Build each cart separately. Use the same shipping address and currency. Add only the items you would genuinely buy; do not add filler to reach a promotion.
- Capture checkout totals. Record item subtotal, shipping, tax, any duty estimate and the promised arrival range. Promotions should be labeled as one-time or conditional rather than treated as permanent prices.

Is Amazon Haul cheaper than Temu?
Not consistently. Amazon Haul’s pricing structure is attractive when you need items within its low-price selection and value Amazon’s support flow, but Temu can have a lower total for a mixed basket or a product with a broader selection.
