Choose the Amazfit Helio Strap if your priority is the longer advertised battery life, upper-arm workout wear, live heart-rate broadcasting, and a Zepp-based training workflow without a required subscription. Choose Google Fitbit Air if you want the lightest hardware, Google Health and Pixel Watch integration, and Fitbit-style passive sleep and health tracking. Both start at about $99.99 in the US, so the better buy depends more on how you train and which phone ecosystem you already use than on price.

What these two screenless trackers are for
Amazfit Helio Strap: a training-oriented sensor band
Amazfit positions Helio Strap as a screenless wearable that continuously measures heart rate while keeping notifications and on-device menus out of view. Its defining practical distinction is flexibility in placement: you can wear it on your wrist or move it to your upper arm. That matters when a wrist is occupied by a conventional watch, when gloves or grips make wrist wear awkward, or when you want a separate sensor for gym and endurance sessions.
The strap can broadcast heart-rate data to compatible watches, treadmills, cycling computers, fitness equipment and supported apps. In a setup with a bike computer or sports watch, Helio can therefore act as the heart-rate source while the larger device handles maps, intervals or workout screens. Amazfit describes the product with the line “No screen. No noise. Just your body’s data.” Its software home is the Zepp app and related Amazfit integrations.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Google Fitbit Air: a minimal passive tracker
Fitbit Air is also screenless, but the documented experience is more phone-mediated. Google requires a Google Account and the Google Health app, where the collected information is presented. The product is aimed at people who want passive health, activity and sleep measurements without wearing a display or managing a watch interface.
Air’s strongest hardware argument is mass. Android Central reports 5.2 g for the tracker without its band and approximately 12 g with a band. That is substantially lighter than Helio’s listed 20 g figure, although the figures are not described in exactly the same way by the two manufacturers. If you are sensitive to anything on your wrist at night, the difference is likely to matter more than a small variation in charging frequency.
Battery life and charging
Helio Strap’s advantage is the published maximum
Amazfit advertises up to 10 days of battery life for Helio Strap. “Up to” is a maximum claim rather than a guaranteed result: continuous heart-rate sampling, workout broadcasting, fit, temperature and the number of phone synchronizations can all change actual endurance. Even with that qualification, the figure gives Helio more headroom for week-long travel, training blocks and users who dislike frequent charging.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fitbit Air targets roughly a weekly cycle
Android Central reports about one week of battery life for Fitbit Air and approximately 90 minutes for a full charge. The one-week estimate is also usage-dependent, so a heavy-synchronization pattern or other enabled measurements may reduce it. A weekly routine can still work well if you attach charging to a fixed day, such as the morning you change bed linens or plan your training week.
How to choose on charging convenience
- Pick Helio when missing a charge during a trip or training cycle would be especially disruptive and you value the larger advertised buffer.
- Pick Air when minimum weight is more important than squeezing out several extra days between charges.
- Whichever you choose, charge before a long event rather than relying on the final percentage, and check the app after charging to confirm the new session has synchronized.
Neither published figure is a controlled, head-to-head battery test. They are manufacturer or reviewer estimates made under their own conditions, so treat the comparison as a planning guide rather than a promise of identical real-world use.

Weight, comfort and sleep tracking
Fitbit Air is the lighter option by the documented numbers: 5.2 g for the tracker alone and about 12 g with a band. Helio Strap is listed at 20 g. Because one figure is tracker-only and the other is a listed banded hardware figure, the gap should not be interpreted as a laboratory comparison of identical configurations; it still indicates that Air is built around a notably lighter sensor module.
For sleep, comfort is usually determined by more than grams. Band tension, the edge of the sensor, heat, sweat, hair and whether you sleep on your arm can all affect whether you keep the device on all night. Air’s low mass favors people who remove wearables because they feel them in bed. Helio’s ability to move to the upper arm gives you another placement to try if wrist pressure or contact with bedding is a problem.
Use a secure but non-constricting fit. A loose sensor can lose contact during movement; an overly tight band can leave marks and make overnight wear unpleasant. When comparing sleep trends, keep the placement consistent for several nights instead of switching locations every evening, otherwise changes in fit can look like changes in your data.
Workout use and live heart-rate data
Why Helio suits structured training
Helio’s heart-rate broadcast is the clearest functional difference in this comparison. When the receiving device or app supports the connection, you can pair the strap as a live heart-rate source for a compatible watch, treadmill, cycling computer, fitness machine or supported training application. This lets you leave a watch on the wrist for display and controls while placing Helio where it is comfortable or where it fits around other equipment.
Upper-arm wear can also be useful when a wrist is occupied by a mechanical watch, a sports watch, lifting straps or handlebars. Before a workout, confirm that the receiving device supports the relevant heart-rate connection and that the strap is selected as the active sensor; compatibility is not universal simply because a device has Bluetooth.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

Where Air fits better
The available descriptions present Fitbit Air as a passive tracker whose information is viewed through the phone and Google Health app, rather than as a dedicated live-broadcast heart-rate accessory. That makes it a better match for people who want background measurements and sleep information without building a multi-device training setup.

If you need heart rate on a treadmill console or bike computer, verify that the exact Air model and the receiving equipment support that workflow before buying. The documented sources do not establish Air as a like-for-like broadcast alternative to Helio.
Software, phones and connected devices
Zepp and Amazfit integrations
Helio Strap’s data is organized through Zepp and Amazfit’s compatible integrations. This is the natural choice if you already use an Amazfit watch, rely on Zepp’s training and recovery views, or want a strap that can feed heart rate into other supported equipment. Your experience will depend on the receiving device and app: check pairing support before planning a specific gym or cycling setup.
Google Health and Pixel Watch
Fitbit Air requires a Google Account and the Google Health app. Google’s listed phone requirements are Android 11 or higher and iOS 16.4 or higher. Air is therefore most convenient for someone already using Google’s health software or a Pixel Watch, because activity and sleep information can remain in the same account and app environment.
These ecosystems are not interchangeable. A person moving from one platform to the other should plan for a new app, account permissions and a different way of viewing trends. Export and historical-data options can vary by service, so check what you need to retain before switching.

Subscriptions and the real ownership cost
Helio does not require a monthly plan
Amazfit states that Helio Strap has “No required subscription.” You can use the core wearable and its Zepp workflow without committing to a recurring membership. That makes the listed $99.99 purchase price a clearer estimate of the minimum hardware cost, although optional services or other Amazfit products are separate decisions.
Air works without Premium, but Premium is available
Tom’s Guide reports that Fitbit Air’s core features are available without Google Health Premium. The same report lists Premium at $9.99 per month or $99 per year. Premium is therefore an optional ownership cost for people who want its coaching and deeper insights, not a requirement for basic tracking.
Over a year, choosing Premium would add $119.88 when paid monthly or $99 on the reported annual price, before any change in pricing or promotion. Decide on the hardware using the no-subscription experience first; treat Premium as a separate value calculation based on whether its coaching tools would change your behavior.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Water resistance, fit and what is not documented
Amazfit lists Helio Strap with 5 ATM water resistance and wrist compatibility from 145 to 205 mm. The rating and dimensions provide a concrete starting point for fit, but they do not replace the care instructions for soaps, hot water, salt water or high-pressure jets. Follow Amazfit’s current cleaning and charging guidance for the situations you expect to encounter.
The Google Store information reviewed for this comparison does not state Fitbit Air’s water-resistance rating or band-size range. Do not assume that Air matches Helio’s 5 ATM specification. Check Google’s official Fitbit Air specification and care documentation for the exact rating and available sizes before swimming, showering or ordering a replacement band.

Accuracy: what this comparison can and cannot prove
No controlled, head-to-head accuracy study for Helio Strap and Fitbit Air is established in the available sources. It would therefore be misleading to call one medically superior or objectively more accurate. Sensor readings can vary with skin contact, placement, movement, exercise intensity, temperature and individual physiology.
The defensible comparison is functional: Helio documents continuous heart-rate tracking, two wear locations and broadcast support; Air emphasizes lightweight passive tracking through Google Health. Neither product should be used as a diagnostic device or as a substitute for clinical advice. If a reading conflicts with symptoms or a medical device, follow medical guidance rather than a consumer tracker.
Which one should you buy?
Choose Amazfit Helio Strap when:
- You want the longer advertised battery window and fewer charging interruptions.
- You need live heart-rate broadcasting to a compatible watch, treadmill, cycling computer, fitness machine or app.
- You want to wear the sensor on your upper arm as well as your wrist.
- You already use Zepp or Amazfit training and recovery tools.
- You want core use without a required recurring subscription.
Choose Google Fitbit Air when:
- Your first priority is the lightest documented tracker-and-band combination for sleep and all-day wear.
- You use Android 11 or newer, iOS 16.4 or newer, and are comfortable using a Google Account and Google Health.
- You own or plan to use a Pixel Watch and want the Google health ecosystem.
- You prefer passive health and sleep features over a broadcast-centered workout setup.
- You may value optional Fitbit-style coaching but want the ability to use core features without Premium.
When neither is an obvious winner
If your only requirement is basic overnight tracking and both ecosystems are new to you, comfort and phone compatibility should decide the purchase. If you train with external equipment that needs a live heart-rate source, confirm the exact pairing support before ordering; the difference between a supported broadcast workflow and phone-only presentation is more important than a small price variation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesSetup checklist for the first week
- Confirm compatibility. For Air, verify the phone is on Android 11 or later or iOS 16.4 or later, install Google Health and sign in with a Google Account. For Helio, install Zepp and check that your intended watch, machine or app supports the strap’s heart-rate connection.
- Charge and update. Fully charge the tracker, install available firmware and keep the phone app current before collecting baseline data.
- Set the fit. Place the sensor securely without cutting into the skin. If you are using Helio for workouts, test wrist and upper-arm positions during easy sessions before relying on one for hard intervals.
- Check synchronization. Open the relevant app after the first night and confirm sleep and heart-rate records are present. If a workout receiver is involved, verify that it displays the strap’s signal rather than a different sensor.
- Establish a routine. Pick a charging day, clean and dry the band as directed, and keep the same overnight placement for several nights so that trends reflect your routine rather than changing fit.
Bottom line
At the same approximate US starting price, Helio Strap is the more capable choice for battery endurance, upper-arm placement and live heart-rate broadcasting, while Fitbit Air is the comfort-first choice for a very light tracker tied to Google Health and Pixel Watch workflows. Buy the device that matches your primary use case and existing ecosystem; neither has a documented accuracy advantage over the other.
