Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThe Specialist is Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2’s customizable flex class. It can combine major and minor abilities from every class you have unlocked, so its best use is not copying a supposed universal meta build. Start by identifying what your squad lacks—damage, crowd control, support or recovery—then make Specialist reinforce that job.
This approach matters most in four-player co-op and Horde mode, where escalating waves, tougher Xenomorph variants and breaches can break a carefully planned formation. Specialist gives the fourth player a way to repair the team’s weaknesses instead of duplicating another player’s role.

What the Specialist class does
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 introduces Specialist as a fully customizable class. Official PlayStation information describes it as a class that lets players mix and match major and minor abilities from every available class. An official Steam announcement adds an important progression limit: Specialist can use all class abilities and perks that you have unlocked.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →That makes Specialist a toolkit rather than a fixed battlefield job. A Specialist can be built around sustained weapon damage, area control, team support or emergency flexibility, depending on the abilities and perks in your account. You are not required to equip something from every class, and trying to collect unrelated effects usually produces a weaker character than choosing one clear purpose.

Why there is no single best Specialist build
The official material does not publish a complete sequel ability table, cooldown list, damage spreadsheet or developer-approved tier list. No reliable source establishes a universal highest-DPS or highest-win-rate setup. A build that is ideal for a damage-heavy group may be wasteful in a squad that already has two damage specialists and no recovery tools.
Treat “best” as a team decision. Specialist is strongest when it fills the job that would otherwise be missing.
Know the squad jobs before selecting abilities
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 supports up to four players and emphasizes strategic class composition. The sequel’s official site describes five unique classes plus Specialist. The predecessor’s official roster—Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc and Recon—is useful historical role context, but do not assume every sequel ability, name or effect is unchanged.
| Squad axis | Question to ask | What a Specialist can contribute |
|---|---|---|
| Sustained damage | Can the team remove elite or priority targets before a wave reaches the line? | Choose damage-focused abilities and perks when the group lacks reliable target pressure. |
| Crowd control | Can the team slow, stun, funnel or otherwise buy space against a swarm? | Use control or area-denial tools to protect firing lanes and create time to reload or revive. |
| Support and recovery | Can the team maintain health, ammunition, revives and general uptime? | Build around support effects when the other players are damage-heavy or fragile. |
| Survivability and flexibility | Can the team reposition and recover after a breach breaks the planned formation? | Reserve room for defensive, mobility or emergency options instead of spending every choice on offense. |
These four axes are more useful than assigning a rigid label to Specialist. A Horde map can begin as a damage check and become a spacing or recovery check when a new Xenomorph variant appears.

How to build Specialist step by step
- Inspect the other three loadouts. Before choosing Specialist, ask who is responsible for priority-target damage, who controls the swarm and who keeps the team functioning. Do not count a role as covered merely because a player selected a class with a familiar name; confirm what that player is actually bringing.
- Choose one primary job. Select damage, control, support or recovery as the build’s main purpose. A secondary capability is useful, but a Specialist with four unrelated goals can end up mediocre at all of them.
- Select major abilities that serve that job. Specialist can mix major abilities from unlocked classes. Pick combinations that reinforce the same encounter plan—for example, a control effect that holds enemies in the area where your squad’s damage is concentrated.
- Use minor perks to close a specific gap. Minor choices should improve the primary plan or protect its weakness. If the build already has enough damage, a perk that improves uptime, survivability or control may be worth more than another small offensive gain.
- Keep one answer for a broken formation. Horde pressure can force players away from their planned positions. Preserve at least one option that helps the team regain space, survive a breach or recover a downed player when your primary plan stops working.
- Review the build after a real failure. If the squad dies while elites remain alive, the problem may be insufficient sustained damage. If it dies while surrounded, add control or repositioning. If players fall during revives or run out of resources, shift Specialist toward support and recovery rather than simply adding more firepower.
Practical Specialist archetypes
Damage anchor
Choose this when the squad has control and support covered but cannot eliminate elites quickly enough. Select damage-oriented abilities and perks from the classes available to you, then keep one defensive or spacing tool so the build is not helpless when enemies reach the team. This is a role recommendation, not a published damage ranking.
Control and space manager
Use this when the group can shoot effectively but loses ground to numbers. Prioritize abilities that slow, stun, funnel or deny an approach. Coordinate placement with the squad’s firing lanes; control is most valuable when it buys teammates time to focus a priority target, reload or revive.
Support and sustain specialist
A damage-heavy group may need Specialist to protect uptime rather than add another gun. Build around the support effects available in your unlocked pool and communicate when those tools are being saved. A support loadout has value only if teammates remain close enough to benefit and do not spend its resources before the dangerous part of the wave.
Emergency flex
Choose a flexible setup when the lobby composition is uncertain or players frequently change roles. Keep a dependable baseline for damage or control, then use minor perks and the remaining choices to cover recovery and survivability. Flexibility is deliberately less specialized, but it can be the correct answer for public matchmaking or a group learning new maps.

Four-player compositions that make sense
There is no official universal four-class formula. The following patterns translate the game’s emphasis on coordination into practical starting points; adjust them when a player’s unlocked abilities or preferred weapons change the team’s actual capabilities.
| Player 1 | Player 2 | Player 3 | Player 4 | Specialist assignment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dedicated damage | Control or area denial | Support or sustain | Specialist | Flex between the team’s weakest axis; this is the cleanest default because the first three jobs are represented. |
| Damage | Damage | Control | Specialist | Support, recovery and survivability; avoid adding a third pure damage loadout. |
| Damage | Support | Recon or utility role | Specialist | Control and space management if waves routinely collapse on the group. |
| Three adaptable players | Roles change between encounters | Emergency flex that can switch its emphasis between waves or missions using the abilities currently unlocked. | ||
Use voice or text communication to state the gap plainly: “We have damage and healing; I am bringing control,” is more useful than announcing a class name without describing the plan.
Building for Horde mode
Official PlayStation information describes dedicated Horde maps with escalating waves and increasingly valuable rewards for surviving deeper. Game copy also warns that new Xenomorph varieties require mobility, situational awareness and use of every available tool. Specialist should therefore be built around space and recovery, not a static damage test.
- Plan for the wave that breaks your formation. Early waves can make a narrow build look perfect. Keep an option that still works when enemies reach multiple angles or force the squad off its preferred position.
- Pair damage with control. Damage removes targets; control creates the time and distance needed to apply it. If no teammate supplies control, Specialist should usually carry it.
- Protect recovery windows. Revives, reloads and repositioning are predictable moments of vulnerability. A support or defensive effect that protects those moments can prevent a chain of downs.
- Stay mobile when new variants appear. Do not treat a successful opening formation as permanent. Move before the swarm closes, keep sight lines between players and avoid spending every tool on minor enemies if a more dangerous target is approaching.
- Change one variable after each failed run. Swap the ability or perk connected to the failure, not the entire build at random. This makes it clear whether the problem was damage, space, support or survivability.
Unlocks and progression
Specialist access is tied to the class abilities and perks you have unlocked. Until an updated in-game guide specifies exact levels or costs, the accurate rule is simple: use the abilities and perks available in your progression menu. Do not assume that an ability exists in Specialist merely because a predecessor class had a similar effect.

Because the sequel’s complete unlock path is not published in the official information available here, exact level requirements, currency costs and slot restrictions should be checked in the current game client. Patch changes can also alter availability or behavior, so a build copied from an earlier guide may no longer match your menu.

- Established: Specialist can mix major and minor abilities from available classes, and it can access unlocked class abilities and perks.
- Established: the game supports four-player co-op, adds deeper team mechanics and includes Horde maps with escalating waves and rewards.
- Historical context only: Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc and Recon are the predecessor’s named role families. Verify sequel names and effects in the in-game menu.
- Not established: a universal best build, numerical DPS ranking, win-rate comparison, complete sequel ability table, cooldown list or damage values.
That distinction keeps a sensible build recommendation from being mistaken for a developer-certified meta.

Players keep getting surrounded
Shift Specialist toward slowing, stunning, funneling or repositioning tools. Review where the team stands between waves; abilities cannot compensate for every split or blocked escape route.
Everyone runs out of health or recovery options
Stop stacking damage. Add support or survivability, protect the player carrying recovery tools and establish a retreat point before the next escalation.
The build feels weak in every situation
It probably has no primary job. Remove effects selected only because they were available, choose one squad deficit and rebuild around that purpose.
Bottom line for choosing Specialist
Start with the team, not the class menu. In a balanced four-player group, Specialist is a flex slot. In a damage-heavy group, it should usually supply control or support; in a group that already controls space and sustains itself, it can become the damage anchor. For Horde, preserve room to move and recover, because the hardest wave is the one that invalidates your original formation.
