Do not keep using an Aldi Stirling JK-115F-BLU until you check its recall status. Verdict: the recall matters more than the specification
The Aldi Stirling JK-115F-BLU has ordinary specifications for a budget kettle: a 1.7-litre painted-metal body, 2,200W heating element, illuminated switch and a three-year warranty. Those figures do not make it a safe recommendation, however. The documented product code for the blue JK-115F-BLU is 56363, one of the product codes listed in ALDI Australia’s safety recall. If your kettle has that code and the recalled open-handle design, the correct action is to stop using it and obtain the full refund.

This is a safety decision, not a performance preference. A loose or separating handle can allow a full kettle of boiling water to fall or spill onto the user. Do not continue using a suspect unit while waiting for a replacement, and do not rely on a handle screw, adhesive or other home repair.
What the JK-115F-BLU is
CHOICE lists the Stirling 1.7L kettle as a $40 electric kettle. Publicly listed specifications describe a painted-metal body with a hinged lid, a transparent water-level window beside the handle and an illuminated on/off switch. The kettle is rated at 2,200W and holds 1.7 litres, with a stated minimum fill of 1 litre.

Is the blue JK-115F-BLU recalled?
Yes, the documented JK-115F-BLU product code is within the affected range. ALDI Australia’s notice covers open-handle STIRLING 1.7L Electric Kettles sold at ALDI Stores between 22 March 2017 and 13 June 2018. The listed PLUs are 56361, 56362, 56363, 58091, 58092, 58093, 58848, 60039, 60040 and 60041. The notice applies to multiple colours, not only blue.

How to check your own kettle
- Unplug it and let it cool. Do not handle a hot or full kettle while inspecting it.
- Look at the base or rating label. Find the model and product-code information. The manual record identifies the blue model as JK-115F-BLU and product code 56363.
- Compare the code with the recall list. Any of the PLUs listed above is affected when it is the recalled open-handle design.
- Check the handle for movement. A handle that already feels loose is an immediate stop-use situation, but a firm handle does not override a matching recall code.
- Keep the kettle out of service and return it. Take the affected unit to any ALDI Store for the stated full-refund remedy. Do not wait for a failure.
If the label is unreadable, the handle design or purchase period still gives you reason to treat the kettle cautiously. Ask ALDI to verify the unit rather than guessing that an unmarked kettle is safe.

Reviewers describe metallic, chemical or burnt-plastic tastes, along with concerns about rust or coating, slow boiling, noise, leaking, finish wear, awkward pouring and early electrical or mechanical failures.
Those comments are useful warning signs but not controlled failure-rate evidence. The page combines related Stirling 1.7L variants with the exact blue model, so it cannot establish that every JK-115F-BLU develops a taste or that a particular percentage fails. Nor do the reviews identify a single confirmed chemical cause for the taste reports. A persistent metallic or plastic taste should therefore be treated as an unresolved product-quality concern, not “fixed” by assuming it is harmless.

For a kettle that matches the recall, taste troubleshooting is beside the point: stop using it and return it. For an unrelated, unaffected kettle, a new taste, visible corrosion, leaking or an electrical smell is a reason to unplug it and contact the seller or manufacturer rather than continue boiling water for drinking.

Pouring and handling
The combination of a 1.7L capacity and a 0.94kg empty weight means a full kettle is heavy. Reports of poor pouring and leaking make the handle-and-lid condition especially important. Keep the spout pointed away from your hand, fill only on a stable surface and never lift a kettle by its lid. Finish and corrosion
The painted-metal construction gives the kettle a different feel from a clear plastic body, but owner reports include finish wear and rust or coating concerns. Inspect the exterior, lid area and spout for damage. Flaking coating, rust particles in water or a damaged seal are practical reasons to retire a kettle even when no recall code is visible.

The product information and manual record state a three-year, or 36-month, warranty. That is the normal support promise attached to the product. A safety recall is different: it identifies a known hazard and specifies a remedy for affected units. If your JK-115F-BLU is one of the recalled products, use ALDI’s full-refund process rather than relying on a repair or waiting to see whether the warranty still has time remaining.

Should you buy or keep one today?
If you already own the blue JK-115F-BLU
- Stop using it while you identify the model and PLU.
- Treat product code 56363 as a recall match and return the kettle to ALDI for a full refund.
- Do not give the kettle to another household, sell it second-hand or continue using it after tightening the handle.
If you found one second-hand
Do not buy a used unit merely because it looks clean or the handle feels firm. Ask for a clear photo of the base label and compare the PLU with the recall list. A kettle sold during the 2017–2018 window with an open handle should be presumed unsuitable until ALDI confirms otherwise.
If you are shopping for a replacement

Safe handling while arranging a return
