Akash Anand has asked BSP chief Mayawati to give him another opportunity to serve the Bahujan Samaj Party under her leadership, and says he will not join another party. His October 2 appeal is a request, not confirmation that the BSP has accepted him back; reports available by October 3, 2026, do not say that Mayawati has restored him to the party.
What did Akash Anand say?
In a social-media post on October 2, Anand appealed to Mayawati for another chance to work for the BSP. The Indian Express reported his message as saying, “The BSP is not just a party for me; it is my family.” He addressed Mayawati as “Buaa Maa” and described her as his political guru and inspiration. These are statements from his post as reported by the newspaper, rather than an independently verified transcript.

Anand also ruled out switching parties. Hindustan Times quoted him as saying, “I am not going to any other political party. Neither today nor ever.”

The dispute also involved Mayawati’s action against Anand’s father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth. Anand said he had withdrawn from social media and therefore could not repost Mayawati’s message about Siddharth. He said his silence had been misunderstood and apologized if it had hurt Mayawati. The Indian Express reported that Anand backed her decision against Siddharth; Anand’s explanation does not establish Mayawati’s response or whether the apology will change his status.

What is known about his removal from the BSP?
News reports describe the party action in different ways and give different dates. The Indian Express said Anand was removed from party responsibilities on September 3, 2026, and later expelled. Hindustan Times also reported that his organizational responsibilities were removed on September 3, but gave September 10 as the date Mayawati expelled or completely freed him from the party. The accounts should not be collapsed into a single definitive expulsion date.
The episode follows an earlier removal and reinstatement in 2025, according to Hindustan Times. The outlet reported that Anand later received important organizational responsibilities. That history provides context, but it does not establish that the current appeal will lead to another return.

Has Mayawati taken Akash Anand back?
No acceptance or reinstatement was reported in the coverage available by October 3, 2026. Anand’s appeal and his pledge not to join another party do not, by themselves, show that Mayawati or the BSP has changed his status.

Hindustan Times reported that Mayawati appointed Anand’s younger brother, Ishan Anand, as BSP national coordinator on September 23. The report described Ishan as 27, a law graduate, and said the appointment was announced at an all-India committee meeting in Lucknow. It did not establish Akash’s position in the party.

The Indian Express reported that political figures including Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad, and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad had indicated they would welcome Anand if he joined their parties. The reporting describes expressions of interest, not a confirmed formal offer or negotiations. Anand’s October 2 statement said he would not move to another party.
