That is a Steam-only count. NCSOFT separately said the game’s global launch drew more than 400,000 peak concurrent players across its service, which also includes its PURPLE platform.
What the 397,905 figure counts
SteamDB’s figure is the highest number of people playing AION 2 on Steam at the same time, recorded on October 5, 2026. It is a concurrent-player peak, not a count of everyone who tried the game or of unique players over the launch period.

The Steam chart does not include players who launched the game through NCSOFT’s PURPLE platform. Inven Global reported that Steam and PURPLE players share global servers, so SteamDB’s platform-specific total and NCSOFT’s broader launch figure can differ without contradicting each other.

Why NCSOFT reported more than 400,000
In its October 6, 2026 launch announcement, NCSOFT said peak concurrent players exceeded 400,000. The company’s figure describes the wider global service, which launched on October 5 through both Steam and PURPLE. SteamDB’s 397,905 figure covers Steam alone.

NCSOFT described service for North America, South America, Europe, and Asia (Japan), with support for eight languages. The announcement does not present the Steam-only and all-platform numbers as the same measurement.
How the Steam peak compared with early access
Inven Global reported a Steam early-access peak of 171,530 concurrent players as of October 1, 2026. SteamDB’s October 5 all-time peak of 397,905 was higher, but the two figures are snapshots of simultaneous players at different times—not unique-player totals for either period.
