Aggelos 2 is an action-platformer from WONDERBOY BOBI and publisher PQube. Nintendo describes it as an adventure built around fast combat, precision platforming and two opposing worlds. You play Aggelos, an angel who must adopt a shadowy demon form to survive in Lumen.

The sequel changes the structure of the original game substantially. The first Aggelos used a more straightforward, level-based format; Aggelos 2 turns that foundation into a metroidvania-style world in which new abilities open routes, reveal secrets and send you back through previously visited areas. How the angel and demon forms work
The central idea is not simply a cosmetic transformation. Each form changes how Aggelos moves and fights, so switching is part of navigating Lumen as well as dealing damage.
Angel form: deliberate and controlled
The angel is slower and more disciplined. That pace suits careful platforming, positioning and situations in which you need to read an enemy pattern before committing to an attack. The form feels like the reliable baseline for learning a room and making precise jumps.
Demon form: speed and aggression
The demon is agile, aggressive and power-focused. Its faster movement helps you cross dangerous spaces and press an attack, while its offensive emphasis rewards players who prefer to stay close to enemies instead of waiting for openings.

Why the contrast matters
The two forms give the sequel a clear identity and create a useful decision during combat: should you approach an encounter patiently or switch to a more forceful, mobile style? The concept is strongest when movement and enemy behavior make that choice immediately practical. It is less convincing when the light/dark switch is available but the room design does not demand a meaningful decision, one of the limitations noted by independent reviews.

Aggelos 2 follows the familiar metroidvania rhythm of entering an area, finding a blocked route, obtaining a new tool and returning with the means to continue. Nintendo highlights flight, wall grabs, dashes and special attacks. The Gaming Outsider also identifies early tools such as a projectile bracelet, sword and wings.

These upgrades do more than increase damage. Flight can change the way you approach vertical rooms, a wall grab can turn a previously unreachable shaft into a route, and a dash can bridge gaps or alter combat spacing. The strongest moments come when a new ability immediately explains several obstacles you noticed earlier.
Two large areas
The game gives you two large areas to investigate rather than a long sequence of isolated stages. That layout creates room for secrets and alternate routes, and it lets an upgrade feel useful beyond the location where you obtained it. The trade-off is that the world can ask you to traverse familiar ground repeatedly.
Puzzles, secrets and bosses
Progression combines environmental puzzles, hidden pickups, combat challenges and bosses. A new ability can reveal a shortcut, expose a collectible or provide a safer approach to a later fight. Bosses provide the clearest tests of the movement and attack options you have accumulated, while optional exploration supplies the reason to keep checking side passages after the critical path is open.
Combat and platforming feel
Combat is fast enough to keep ordinary encounters active, but the game still expects you to respect positioning and timing. The angel form encourages measured attacks; the demon form supports a more assertive rhythm. Sword attacks and special abilities give you tools beyond simply jumping and striking, while the projectile bracelet offers a way to pressure targets from a distance.
Precision platforming is equally important. Flight, wall grabs and dashes turn movement into a progression system: early rooms teach the limitations of your current mobility, and later visits let you route through them differently. This is a classic metroidvania structure, but Aggelos 2 keeps it readable by making each major movement upgrade feel immediately tangible.

The design is at its best when platforming and combat overlap. A room that asks you to wall-grab around hazards and then switch forms for an aggressive attack feels like a complete expression of the game’s systems. Less successful sections make the same traversal feel like a commute, especially when there is no new puzzle, enemy pattern or shortcut to justify the return trip.

Aggelos 2 uses bright, colorful 16-bit-inspired visuals rather than a modern, high-detail aesthetic. Character silhouettes and environmental colors make the two-world premise easy to read, and the pixel-art presentation supports the game’s retro action-platformer goals without trying to imitate a specific older release.
The music follows that direction with retro and chiptune-style tracks. Independent reviews consistently identify the visuals and music as strengths. The presentation also helps the game feel cohesive: movement, combat effects and environments all belong to the same deliberately old-school visual language.
This is not a hardware showcase for the Switch. Its modest 236 MB download and pixel-art presentation make it a natural fit for handheld play, where short exploration sessions and quick retries are convenient. The appeal is style and responsiveness rather than technical spectacle.

That 7-to-9 range is more useful than an invented average. It indicates a game with a strong foundation whose enjoyment depends heavily on how much you value exploration and how tolerant you are of repeated traversal. Nintendo Life’s listing provided pricing and product information but did not show a Nintendo Life review score at the time checked.
The biggest problem: navigation friction
Backtracking can become repetitive
Returning to earlier rooms is part of the genre, but Aggelos 2 sometimes makes those trips feel like required travel rather than discovery. If an upgrade opens several distant routes at once, you may spend a long stretch retracing corridors before reaching the next meaningful challenge.
The map lacks strong quality-of-life tools
The Gaming Outsider specifically criticizes the map’s zoom and marker functionality. When a map cannot show enough detail or let you mark an unresolved obstacle, remembering where a new ability might help becomes a manual task. That matters more in a two-area world with multiple revisits than it would in a short linear platformer.
100% completion is a separate commitment
Finishing the critical path and collecting everything are different experiences. Finding every item can turn an enjoyable exploration loop into a systematic sweep, especially when the map does not make outstanding locations easy to record. If you mainly want the campaign and boss progression, you can treat optional cleanup as a choice rather than a requirement.
Does the light/dark system reach its potential?
The angel-versus-demon premise suggests a world designed around constant interaction between opposing states. In practice, the forms clearly differ in speed, aggression and combat approach, but the switch is not always integrated into puzzles and level design. Some rooms make the choice feel important; others allow you to stay with the form you prefer.

That unevenness explains a common critical reservation. The mechanic is interesting enough to carry the game’s identity, yet it does not consistently produce the kind of layered environmental problem solving that the premise promises. Players who mainly want two distinct combat styles may be satisfied. Players expecting every area to be built around light/dark logic may find the system underused.

Is there a physical Switch edition?
A Chicas Gamers review reports that physical editions exist for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. Availability, regional packaging and current pricing can vary, so confirm the seller’s platform, region and stock before ordering. The most precise search phrase for a Switch copy is Aggelos 2 Nintendo Switch physical edition. How to approach the game without wasting time
- Test both forms early. Use the angel’s slower, disciplined movement and the demon’s agile, power-focused approach before settling into a preferred style. Some encounters are easier when you switch rather than force one form to do everything.
- Remember ability gates. When you see a route blocked by height, a wall, a gap or a special interaction, note its location mentally or on paper. The map’s limited zoom and marker support make personal reminders useful.
- Revisit with a purpose. Return after obtaining flight, wall grabs, dashes or other major tools, but prioritize routes that clearly match the new ability instead of sweeping every room immediately.
- Separate progress from completion. Open the next route and defeat the required bosses first. Come back for optional collectibles only if the cleanup remains enjoyable.
- Use the presentation as a pacing guide. The game is well suited to handheld sessions: explore until you reach a new ability or boss, then pause rather than turning every return trip into a marathon.

The recommendation is less secure for players who consider navigation polish essential.
