The AEG DGE5660HM is a 54 cm integrated rangehood with a manufacturer-listed maximum airflow of 660 m³/h, four fan speeds, Hob2Hood, and both ducted and recirculating operation. AEG Australia marks this exact model discontinued. Its published specifications make it possible to assess the intended features, but they are not independent performance test results.
Is the AEG DGE5660HM any good?
On paper, it offers a useful set of features for an integrated hood: variable fan speed, remote control, two LED lights, automatic Hob2Hood operation, and a clean-filter indicator. It can be installed for external ducting or recirculation, which gives some flexibility when planning a kitchen.

Whether it is a good choice for a particular kitchen depends on fit, duct route, cooking habits, and whether the required parts and support are available. AEG Australia lists the DGE5660HM as discontinued, so it should not be treated as a model with routinely available new stock. The product page also displays inconsistent review indicators, so those figures do not establish reliable owner consensus. AEG Australia’s DGE5660HM product page

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How loud is the AEG DGE5660HM?
AEG Australia lists noise of 54 dB at low speed and 67 dB at high speed. The listing does not give a complete noise-and-airflow breakdown across all four speeds, so these two figures cannot tell you precisely how loud it will be at the setting you use most. Compare noise only with another hood’s figure at a comparable fan setting and extraction mode; a maximum figure alone is not a full noise profile.
Will it fit your kitchen?
Check the cabinet opening and the installation space against the product’s stated 330 × 540 × 300 mm dimensions; a nominal 54 cm width is not, by itself, confirmation that the hood fits a particular cabinet. Plan the duct route as well: AEG lists a 150 mm duct diameter. The manufacturer’s minimum clearances are 500 mm above an electric cooking surface and 570 mm above gas, but the installation guide and applicable local requirements should govern the actual installation.

Can it recirculate without external ducting?
Yes. AEG lists recirculation as an operating mode, and specifies that it requires two optional carbon filters. The displayed Australian specification does not identify their exact part number. Confirm compatibility with the DGE5660HM before buying filters, especially because the model is discontinued. If you choose ducted extraction instead, the listed duct diameter is 150 mm.
What do Hob2Hood and the other controls do?
AEG says Hob2Hood can automatically control the hood’s fan and lights based on the hob’s settings. The feature is useful only if the hob is compatible, so check the specific hob’s documentation rather than assuming that any cooktop will pair with the hood. The DGE5660HM also has electronic push buttons, a remote control, an LED speed display, four listed fan speeds, an auto-off function, an auto fan timer, and a clean-filter indicator. What should you check before buying a discontinued model?
Availability, spare parts, and service terms can vary by seller and location. AEG’s support page provides routes to manuals, repair booking, and spare parts, but those links do not guarantee current local stock or service availability. Confirm the seller’s condition and warranty terms, the availability of compatible filters, and the parts needed for the selected installation mode before committing. AEG Australia support

Compare the DGE5660HM against alternatives on equivalent terms, not just headline airflow or sound figures. Check whether airflow figures describe the same fan setting, whether noise measurements use the same setting and extraction mode, and whether recirculation filters are included or sold separately. Also compare dimensions and clearances, duct requirements, controls and compatibility, warranty terms in your region, and the likely availability of parts.
