For most PC players, a 27-inch 1440p Nitro is the sensible starting point: the standard XV272U balances image quality and performance, the XV272U RV adds a higher DisplayPort refresh rate, and the XV272U KF is the specialist choice for competitive players with a very fast graphics card. Choose the curved XZ270U P when contrast and immersion matter more than IPS viewing angles, or the 4K Mini LED XV275K P3biipruzx when console compatibility, HDR impact and pixel density take priority.
Quick comparison of the current Nitro choices
Acer uses similar names across multiple regional part numbers, so the suffix is as important as the XV272U or XV275K family name. The table shows the capabilities documented for the specific models below; another suffix can have different ports, refresh limits or bundled cables.

In Acer’s published specifications, the 1440p baseline is listed at 144Hz, 400cd/m² and 95% DCI-P3, while the 300Hz model is listed at 600cd/m² and 90% DCI-P3. RTINGS’ 2025 comparison update records the XV275K P3biipruzx at 3840×2160 and 160Hz and identifies HDMI 2.1 as a reason it is better suited to console gaming than the XV272U KV.
What you are really choosing: pixels, frames and panel behaviour
1440p versus 4K load
2560×1440 renders about 3.7 million pixels per frame. 3840×2160 renders about 8.3 million, roughly 2.25 times as many. At the same game settings, that larger workload usually lowers achievable frame rate and increases the need for a powerful GPU. A 4K monitor can still run a game at 1440p or use an upscaler, but the display’s sharpest image comes when the game is rendered at its native 3840×2160 resolution.

For a mixed library of shooters, role-playing games and productivity, 1440p is easier to drive at high refresh rates and remains sharp at 27 inches. 4K is most compelling when you sit close enough to see the extra detail, play slower cinematic games, edit high-resolution media, or want a single screen that can take a 4K signal from a console.
Refresh rate and the frame rate you can sustain
A 144Hz panel refreshes every 6.94 milliseconds, 170Hz every 5.88ms, 240Hz every 4.17ms and 300Hz every 3.33ms. Those are display intervals, not guaranteed game response times. The benefit of a higher setting appears only when the computer can supply frames at a similar rate and the game engine, connection and settings are configured to do so.
- Choose 144–170Hz when your GPU generally operates between about 90 and 170 frames per second, or when you want a balanced monitor for many genres.
- Choose 240Hz or 300Hz for esports titles in which your system can remain near those frame rates and you value lower scan-out time and a more immediate feel over maximum resolution.
- Do not buy a 300Hz monitor to compensate for a CPU or GPU that produces 100fps. Adaptive sync can smooth the mismatch, but it cannot create additional frames.
IPS, curved contrast and Mini LED
The XV272U, XV272U RV and XV272U KF use IPS specifications. IPS generally offers broad viewing angles and consistent colour across a desk, making it a safe choice for work as well as games. The XZ270U P is curved and lists 4,000:1 native contrast, a figure associated with deeper unlit blacks than a typical IPS panel. Curvature can make a large or wide image feel more enveloping, but it is a personal preference and can be less convenient for straight-line design work.

Treat the model’s Mini LED specification as a reason to investigate HDR performance, not as a promise that every game will look identical.

Model-by-model buying advice
Nitro XV272U: the safe 27-inch 1440p baseline
Acer lists the XV272U at 2560×1440 with an IPS panel, 144Hz, FreeSync, HDR400, two HDMI 2.0 inputs, DisplayPort 1.2, four USB downstream ports and a 100×100 VESA pattern. The published specification also gives 400cd/m² brightness and 95% DCI-P3 coverage. That combination suits a buyer who wants one monitor for games, browsing and creative work without paying for a refresh rate their system cannot use.
Its HDMI 2.0 inputs are appropriate for a 1440p PC signal within the model’s stated limits, but they are not the feature to select for a 4K/120 console setup. If you intend to move the display between a PC and a current console, verify the exact input limits before ordering rather than assuming every XV272U has the same electronics.
Nitro XV272U RV: value high refresh, with a connection caveat
The US Acer Store listing for the XV272U RV specifies 170Hz over DisplayPort and 144Hz over HDMI, an IPS panel, FreeSync Premium and HDR400. That makes DisplayPort the connection to use when you want the model’s maximum refresh rate on a PC. The same listing showed a price of $299.99 and an out-of-stock status when accessed in 2026; both figures are volatile retail information, not a standing worldwide price.
This is the model to consider when the RV is materially cheaper than the standard XV272U or when 170Hz is useful to your PC. Check the seller’s regional suffix, included cable and port list: an HDMI cable that cannot carry the advertised mode will leave the monitor running below its headline refresh rate.

Acer Nitro XV272U KF: 300Hz for competitive PC play
Acer specifies 2560×1440 IPS, 300Hz, a 1ms response specification, FreeSync Premium, 600cd/m² brightness, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB-C and KVM for the XV272U KF. The 600cd/m² figure gives more headroom for bright rooms and HDR highlights than the 400cd/m² baseline specification, while the 300Hz mode is aimed at players who prioritise motion clarity and low display latency in competitive titles.
To justify the premium, your PC should be capable of sustaining very high frame rates at 1440p in the games you actually play. A fast 300Hz panel will not make a 70fps single-player game look like a 300fps esports title. KVM is useful when one keyboard and mouse must switch between two computers, and USB-C can simplify a laptop connection, but confirm whether the particular regional listing supports video, charging and data at the levels you need.
Nitro XZ270U P: curved immersion and stronger native contrast
The XZ270U P has a curved ZeroFrame design, 2560×1440 resolution, a 165Hz standard rate with capability up to 240Hz, 1ms VRB and 4,000:1 native contrast. It is a sensible alternative when you want 1440p sharpness but prefer a more enveloping image and darker native blacks to the typical IPS presentation.

Acer Nitro XV275K P3biipruzx: 4K detail and console-friendly HDMI 2.1
The XV275K P3biipruzx is the high-resolution option: RTINGS records 3840×2160 at up to 160Hz and Mini LED backlighting, and specifically notes HDMI 2.1 as an advantage for console gaming over the XV272U KV. HDMI 2.1 gives a compatible console a path to high-bandwidth 4K modes that HDMI 2.0 models cannot provide at the same combination of resolution and refresh.
For a PC, 160Hz at 4K is demanding. You may need to lower demanding quality settings or use the game’s upscaling technology to keep frame rates high. For console owners, confirm that the console, cable and monitor input all support the desired mode; a monitor having an HDMI 2.1 socket alone does not change the console’s own output limits.

HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort and USB-C: match the port to the job
Console connection
If 4K at a high refresh rate is a requirement, start with HDMI 2.1 and confirm the port’s advertised bandwidth on the exact part number. The XV275K P3biipruzx and XV272U KF list HDMI 2.1; the baseline XV272U lists HDMI 2.0. Do not infer that a monitor family has one universal HDMI version from its shared product name.
PC connection
DisplayPort is often the simplest route to a PC’s maximum refresh. The XV272U lists DisplayPort 1.2, the XV272U KF lists DisplayPort 1.4, and the XV272U RV listing specifies its 170Hz mode over DisplayPort. Use a cable rated for the standard named by the monitor and graphics card, then select the advertised refresh rate in the operating system and game.

USB-C and KVM
USB-C and KVM are productivity features as much as gaming features. KVM can share peripherals between two computers, while USB-C can carry a laptop’s display signal and USB data when implemented that way. The XV272U KF is the model in this comparison that explicitly lists both. Check charging wattage and the required USB upstream connection in the regional manual before treating USB-C as a one-cable dock.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Stand, mounting and desk planning
The XV272U specification lists a 100×100 VESA mounting pattern. That is the standard to match when selecting an arm or wall mount for that model. Other models in this comparison may use the same pattern, but the cited specifications do not establish it for every suffix, so verify the manual or product page for the exact unit.
Also check the stand’s height, tilt, swivel and pivot range before buying. Acer can change a stand between regional variants even when the panel name is similar. If you plan to use an arm, account for the monitor’s weight without the stand, the arm’s load rating and clearance for rear-facing HDMI, DisplayPort and USB plugs.

- Set the target resolution. Choose 1440p if your priority is high frame rates on a mid-to-high-range gaming PC; choose 4K when detail, console compatibility or a high-density desktop outweighs GPU load.
- Measure your real frame rates. Use an in-game overlay or benchmark from the titles you play. Compare the sustained range, not a short peak in an empty scene.
- Pick the refresh tier. Select 144–170Hz for a broad-use system, 240Hz for a very fast competitive setup and 300Hz only when your games and hardware can exploit it.
- Choose the panel behaviour. Select IPS for viewing-angle consistency, the XZ270U P for curved high-contrast presentation, or the XV275K P3biipruzx for Mini LED backlighting and 4K detail.
- Audit every connection. Match HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 or another stated standard to the GPU or console. Confirm that the supplied or purchased cable supports the desired resolution and refresh.
- Verify the exact suffix. Read the regional specification, not just a retailer’s family-level title. Record the number of HDMI ports, refresh limit on each input, USB-C functions, VESA pattern and stand adjustments.
- Check live availability. Prices and stock change by country and date. The XV272U RV’s $299.99 US listing and out-of-stock status illustrate why a cached price should not determine your shortlist.
Configuration after installation
- Connect the monitor with DisplayPort or HDMI 2.1 as appropriate for the target mode, then power on the PC or console.
- Open the operating system’s display settings, select the Nitro monitor and choose its native resolution and highest supported refresh rate. Windows commonly leaves a new display at a lower default rate until you change it.
- In the monitor’s on-screen menu, enable Adaptive-Sync or the Acer FreeSync option when you want variable refresh. Enable HDR only when the game or operating-system HDR workflow is calibrated for it; leaving HDR forced on for ordinary desktop work can make SDR content look incorrect.
- Set the game to exclusive or borderless mode according to your preference, select the monitor’s native resolution and cap frame rate if needed to keep the GPU within the adaptive-sync range.
- For the XZ270U P, compare ordinary adaptive sync with VRB. Use the mode that gives the best balance of brightness, ghosting and tear control for your frame-rate range.
- For the XV272U KF, test KVM and USB-C with both computers before routing cables through the desk. Confirm that the USB upstream path is connected; a KVM cannot switch peripherals that are not attached to both hosts.
- For the XV275K P3biipruzx, test the console’s signal-information screen and use a certified HDMI 2.1 cable if you are targeting a high-bandwidth 4K mode.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Buying by family name alone: XV272U and XV275K suffixes are not guaranteed to share ports or refresh limits. Compare the full regional part number.
- Expecting 300Hz to improve every game: the monitor can refresh 300 times per second, but a 100fps game supplies only 100 new frames per second.
- Using the wrong input: the XV272U RV’s listing puts 170Hz on DisplayPort and 144Hz on HDMI. A cable or input change can silently reduce the available mode.
- Assuming HDR400 equals premium HDR: HDR400 is a baseline certification level. Brightness, local dimming, black level and game support still determine the visible result.
- Ignoring GPU load at 4K: 4K has more than twice the pixels of 1440p. Plan for lower settings, upscaling or a stronger GPU if you want high frame rates.
- Trusting an old price: retailer stock and pricing are regional and volatile. Recheck the seller immediately before ordering.
- Buying an arm without checking VESA: use the 100×100 pattern documented for the XV272U only when the exact model and mount both confirm it; verify other variants separately.
How Acer’s lineup has expanded
Acer’s September 3, 2025 announcement described the new range this way: “Complementing the new PCs, Acer also expanded its Nitro monitor lineup with four new high-resolution, high refresh rate models suited for just about any type of gamer.” The practical result is a broad spread rather than one universally best Nitro: 1440p IPS models target balance, the KF targets extreme refresh, the curved XZ model targets contrast and immersion, and the Mini LED XV275K targets 4K and console use.
Bottom line: choose by your limiting component
Start with the part of your setup that limits the experience. If the GPU cannot produce very high 1440p frame rates, buy the XV272U or XV272U RV and spend the difference elsewhere. If competitive games routinely run at several hundred frames per second, the XV272U KF’s 300Hz, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB-C and KVM features are the focused upgrade. Choose the XZ270U P when curved immersion and 4,000:1 contrast are more important than IPS consistency. Choose the XV275K P3biipruzx when you want 4K detail, Mini LED backlighting and an HDMI 2.1 path for a console. In every case, confirm the complete suffix, input-specific refresh limits, cable standard, VESA information, current price and stock in your region.
