The Acer FA200 4TB was listed at $479.99 in an Amazon-linked price widget updated October 7, 2026, which works out to about 12 cents per decimal gigabyte. That observation does not establish an active Prime Day deal or make it the cheapest 4TB SSD. In a historical October 2025 comparison, the FA200 cost $187 and the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB cost $320—about 42% less, not 50%.
Is the Acer FA200 a Prime Day deal at $480?
Not on the evidence of the listed price alone. The FPS Review’s page displayed $479.99 through an Amazon-linked price widget, which it said was updated October 7, 2026, at 5:11 a.m. That is a dated listing observation, not confirmation of an active Prime Day promotion, a typical price, or a market-wide low. Check the retailer listing and the relevant regional deal calendar before treating it as a live sale.

“Cheapest 4TB SSD” is also too broad to establish from one listing. SSD prices and availability change, and the available price observation does not compare the FA200 with all 4TB drives on sale. A current comparison would need contemporaneous prices for the alternatives a buyer is considering.
What does $480 mean per gigabyte?
Using decimal capacity, $480 divided by 4,000 GB is exactly $0.12 per GB. The displayed $479.99 is approximately $0.120 per decimal GB, or about 12 cents per GB—not less than $0.12 per GB in any practically meaningful sense. A drive marketed as 4TB may show less addressable capacity when a computer reports it in binary units.

Was the FA200 50% cheaper than the Samsung 990 Pro?
No, not in the dated comparison available. TechRadar’s October 8, 2025 Prime Day coverage listed the Acer FA200 4TB at $187, reduced from $220, and the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB at $320, reduced from $375. The $133 difference was about 41.6% of the Samsung’s sale price—roughly 42% less. Those are historical prices, not current offers, so the percentage should not be carried over to today’s listings.
What does the Acer FA200 4TB offer?
Acer specifies the FA200 as a PCIe Gen 4 x4, NVMe 2.0 M.2 2280 SSD, with capacities up to 4TB. For the 4TB model, Acer rates sequential reads at up to 7,100 MB/s and sequential writes at up to 6,100 MB/s. The company’s broader feature copy mentions speeds up to 7,200 MB/s; use the capacity-specific figures when evaluating this 4TB version. See Acer’s product specifications.

- Upgraded Performance: PCIe 5.0 SSD has performance doubled compared to PCIe 4.0. It delivers blazing-fast speed, a maximum read speed of 14000 MB/s and a maximum write speed of 13000 MB/s.
Acer describes the design as DRAM-less, using Host Memory Buffer (HMB) and an SLC cache. It lists compatibility with desktops, laptops, and PS5, but that does not guarantee a fit in every device. Check the device’s M.2 requirements and available physical clearance before buying.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow does it compare with the Samsung 990 Pro?
The FA200 can make sense as a cost-saving option for extra fast storage if it is sufficiently cheaper for the workload. Peak sequential figures alone do not settle the comparison: the relevant trade-offs include workload, sustained writes, endurance and warranty, as well as the price difference. Tom’s Hardware found the FA200 adequate in its sequential tests but behind the 990 Pro for reads, and recommended considering it when its lower cost justifies the choice.

The FPS Review identifies the 4TB FA200 as QLC-based and reports a 2,000 TBW endurance rating and a five-year warranty. Those are review-reported product details, not test results from this article. For a buyer who expects frequent, heavy writes or needs stronger read performance, compare the products’ full specifications and independent testing rather than deciding from the FA200’s peak speeds alone. See Tom’s Hardware’s FA200 review and The FPS Review’s 4TB review.

- Current price: Confirm the live price, retailer, region, and whether a Prime Day promotion is actually active. The $479.99 widget reading is dated October 7, 2026.
- Competing 4TB drives: Compare current prices at the same capacity; the historical 2025 Samsung comparison does not establish today’s savings.
- Device fit: Verify M.2 2280 support, PCIe generation, installation clearance, and any device-specific requirements.
- Workload: Consider whether the FA200’s price advantage matters more than the 990 Pro’s stronger read performance in Tom’s Hardware’s comparison, and whether the drive’s reported QLC design suits your write pattern.
For the historical deal figures, see TechRadar’s October 8, 2025 comparison.
