Can you play Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War on a PC? Bandai Namco lists it as a PlayStation 2 release, not a native PC game. The PC route covered here is PCSX2 emulation: you will need a capable computer, a PS2 BIOS dumped from your own console, and the original game disc or a backup of your own disc.
Is there a PC version of Ace Combat Zero?
Bandai Namco’s product history lists Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War as a PlayStation 2 game released in 2006; that official record does not list a PC edition: Bandai Namco’s product history. The supported PC approach described here is to run the PS2 game through PCSX2, rather than install a native Windows version.

PCSX2’s compatibility database marks the US release, serial SLUS-21346, as “Playable.” Its entry shows latest testing on version 1.5.0. That label is a compatibility classification, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or trouble-free play on every computer, and it applies to the listed US release: PCSX2 compatibility list.
PCSX2 system requirements
The requirements below are PCSX2’s published emulator tiers, accessed October 3, 2026—not a benchmark of Ace Combat Zero on your computer. PCSX2 cautions that requirements vary substantially by game and performance depends on hardware and settings. Slower systems may run some games but may not provide playable performance; even CPUs meeting only the moderate tier can struggle with complex PS2 games. GPU demand depends largely on upscaling level and blending accuracy. See PCSX2’s requirements for current details.
#1 Best Overall
| Tier | Operating system | Processor | Graphics | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Latest Windows 10, macOS 11 (Big Sur), Ubuntu 22.04, or another Linux distribution | x86-64 with SSE4.1; PassMark single-thread rating of at least 1500; two physical cores with SMT | Vulkan 1.1, Direct3D 11, or OpenGL 3.3; PassMark G3D Mark of at least 600 | 8 GB RAM |
| Moderate | Windows 11, macOS 14–15, Ubuntu 26.04, or another Linux distribution | AVX2; four physical cores; PassMark single-thread rating of at least 2000 | Vulkan 1.3, Direct3D 12, OpenGL 4.6, or Metal; PassMark G3D Mark of at least 6000 and 4 GB VRAM | 16 GB RAM |
Meeting the minimum tier does not mean every game or graphics setting will run well. Treat the tiers as a compatibility starting point, not a promise of performance at a chosen resolution or upscaling level.
What you need before setup
- PCSX2: Download it from the official PCSX2 site and follow its setup guide.
- A PS2 BIOS: PCSX2 cannot run games without one. Its documentation says to dump the BIOS software from your own PlayStation 2; it does not provide an open-source replacement. Follow the BIOS guide.
- The game: Use your original PS2 disc, which PCSX2 can read directly, or make a backup from your own disc using a compatible optical drive. See the game-disc instructions.
- A controller: A compatible PC controller can be mapped as a PS2 controller. Check whether your existing controller is recognized before considering another one.
Set up the game in PCSX2
- Install PCSX2. Use the official distribution and start with the setup guide for your operating system.
- Provide your BIOS. Dump it from your own PS2 and configure it in PCSX2. The emulator will not run PS2 games without BIOS files.
- Load the game. Insert your disc to play from a compatible optical drive, or use a backup made from your own disc. PCSX2 documents both workflows in its playing-games guide.
- Configure the controller. Open Settings > Controllers. PCSX2 recommends SDL as a cross-platform input source. If your controller supports automatic mapping, try that first; otherwise assign the buttons and analog sticks manually. Configure the first PS2 port for player one. The controller guide explains the options.
- Check the compatibility entry if something is wrong. The “Playable” label for US serial SLUS-21346 is a useful starting point, not a tailored fix for graphics, input, or performance problems. Consult PCSX2’s compatibility list and troubleshooting documentation rather than assuming a game-specific setting.
Controls: map the game’s PS2 inputs, not an assumed keyboard layout
PCSX2 provides controller configuration, but the available documentation does not establish a verified game-specific chart for pitch, roll, yaw, throttle, weapons, targeting, camera, and menus. Do not assume a default keyboard or mouse-and-keyboard scheme. Check the controls shown in your copy of the game or its manual, then map the corresponding PS2 inputs under Settings > Controllers. SDL automatic mapping may work for a supported controller; manual mapping is available when it does not.

The PS2 game tracks three Ace Styles: Mercenary, Soldier, and Knight. According to Bandai Namco’s game description, mission behavior affects the style assessed after each mission, with consequences for reputation, radio dialogue, enemy ace units, and some story-movie presentation. This is part of the original game, not a PCSX2 feature.

- Empire Total War Complete Edition
The publisher also describes a two-player versus mode with stage, aircraft, special-weapon, and match-setting choices. That is a PS2 game mode; the description does not establish online multiplayer or a modern PC network mode.

PS2 hardware or PCSX2?
| Consideration | Play on PlayStation 2 | Use PCSX2 on a computer |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | The platform listed in Bandai Namco’s game history | Emulation; no native PC edition is listed in that product record |
| Prerequisites | PS2 hardware and the game disc | A PC that can run the emulator, a BIOS dumped from your own PS2, and the disc or a backup from your own disc |
| Controls | Use a PS2 controller | Configure a supported controller in PCSX2; automatic mapping may work, or map controls manually |
| Display and performance | Depends on the PS2 and connected display | Depends on PC hardware and emulator settings; published requirements do not guarantee performance for this game |
If you already have working PS2 hardware, it is the direct route for the platform Bandai Namco lists. PCSX2 is an option when you want to use a computer and can meet the emulator’s requirements and setup prerequisites.
