Choose the ABS Cyclone if you want a conventional Windows gaming desktop with an RTX 5060 and more memory and storage in its listed configuration. Consider Steam Machine if a compact cube, SteamOS, and television-friendly controls matter more than a standard desktop setup. There is no cited controlled, game-by-game test of these exact systems, so the evidence does not support a definitive FPS multiplier or a blanket performance verdict for every game.
What are you comparing?
These systems take different approaches to gaming. ABS’s Cyclone Aqua, model CA14400F50605, is a Windows 11 Home desktop built around an Intel Core i5-14400F and a ZOTAC GeForce RTX 5060 Twin Edge OC with 8GB of GDDR7. Its listed configuration includes 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory and a 1TB Kingston PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. ABS’s product page also lists a 650W 80+ Gold power supply, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

Steam Machine is a compact SteamOS system. PCWorld’s June 22, 2026 report described a semi-custom AMD six-core Zen 4 processor, RDNA 3 graphics, 16GB DDR5 memory, and either a 512GB or 2TB SSD. TechSpot’s June 22 report adds that its GPU has 28 RDNA 3 compute units, 8GB of GDDR6, and a 110W power envelope. These are distinct configurations and platforms, not two versions of the same desktop.

The configurations differ in memory type, storage tiers, operating system, and GPU design, so comparing sticker prices alone does not establish value. PCWorld also reported optional controller bundles, but the cited launch report does not establish what is currently included with each purchase. Check the live price, exact storage tier, controller bundle, shipping, and tax before deciding. Steam Machine’s cited prices are launch-era U.S. reporting, not confirmation of current stock or regional pricing. An earlier $1,049.99 Newegg deal for the ABS PC was explicitly marked expired by 9to5Toys on July 14, 2026; it should not be treated as a current price. PCWorld’s launch report and the expired-deal report provide the dated context.

Which system is likely to perform better in games?
The available evidence points toward the ABS desktop as the stronger fit for conventional discrete-GPU gaming, but it does not prove how many frames per second either complete system will deliver in a particular game. Notebookcheck reported that the RTX 5060 scored 45% above the RX 7600 in its 3DMark Time Spy Graphics benchmark testing. That is a GPU benchmark comparison—not a game test between the ABS Cyclone and Steam Machine. Notebookcheck’s predictions for these systems are editorial extrapolations, not direct measurements of both complete PCs under matched conditions. Read Notebookcheck’s comparison.
For a meaningful head-to-head, look for independent results using the same games, resolution, graphics settings, upscaling method, and ray-tracing options. Frame pacing and system-level behavior matter too. ABS provides a performance panel on its product page, but the available page information does not clearly establish enough methodology, settings, resolution, or test conditions to treat those figures as an independently verified comparison with Steam Machine. Neither system’s cited specifications alone guarantee a particular resolution or frame rate.

How do Windows and SteamOS change the choice?
The ABS comes with Windows 11 Home, making it the more straightforward fit if you want a conventional desktop environment alongside gaming. Consider whether your game library, launchers, peripherals, and non-gaming software suit the operating system you plan to use; the hardware comparison alone cannot answer compatibility questions for every title or app.
Steam Machine’s differentiator is SteamOS and a television-oriented experience. Tom’s Guide praised its compact cube design, SteamOS interface for TV gaming, HDMI CEC, and controller-based wake behavior, while judging its price-to-performance weak in the context of its review. Those are reviewer assessments rather than universal outcomes: how useful the convenience features are depends on your room, display, controller habits, and the games you play. Tom’s Guide’s review discusses those impressions.

Which one fits your space and upgrade plans?
Choose the ABS Cyclone for a conventional desktop setup
The Cyclone’s listed configuration and standard desktop form make it the more natural choice if you want a Windows PC with discrete graphics and conventional desktop components. Before buying, check the seller’s exact listing for the configuration, warranty, and component details; the product page’s specifications do not establish every upgrade or service procedure.
Consider Steam Machine for a compact living-room setup
The compact cube and TV-focused interface may be attractive where a full-size desktop is inconvenient. Steam Machine is not entirely non-upgradeable: TechSpot reports that its M.2 SSD is user-replaceable and memory can be swapped. However, the compact design makes that work more involved than upgrading a standard desktop. The report also describes expandable storage and microSD support. TechSpot’s report covers the hardware and upgrade details.

What should you check before buying?
- Price and configuration: Compare same-day seller prices for the exact storage tier and controller bundle, including tax and shipping. The ABS page lists Newegg and Best Buy purchase links, but pricing and stock can change.
- Game performance: Prefer independent, matched tests for the games and settings you care about; do not treat a GPU benchmark as a complete-system game result.
- Software compatibility: Confirm that your games, launchers, and other required software work with the operating system you intend to use.
- Space and controls: Consider whether a compact cube and TV-oriented interface suit your room better than a conventional desktop setup.
- Upgrades and support: Compare what you expect to upgrade and review each seller’s warranty and service terms. The cited material does not establish a controlled comparison of noise, power use, warranty coverage, or support.
Valve’s pricing explanation, reproduced in TechSpot’s June 22, 2026 report, was: “our original goal for the price of Steam Machine is no longer viable. So the prices we’re sharing today reflect the state of the world for manufacturing; or, more accurately, it reflects the price of the components as we’ve secured them over the past 6 months.” That statement provides context for the launch pricing, not a guarantee that the reported prices remain available.
