A site can be mostly static and still expose application-level risk through a single serverless route. But the available information does not identify the four holes claimed in the original title, so naming them as actual audit findings would be guesswork. The useful distinction is between verified findings—which require the audit evidence—and the controls an audit should examine.
Why one server-side route changes the risk
A static frontend does not make a server-side function harmless. A route that runs code can receive untrusted input, make authorization decisions, consume compute, and use cloud permissions or secrets. OWASP’s Serverless / FaaS Security Cheat Sheet explains that serverless services shift some infrastructure responsibilities to the provider but do not remove application-code risks.

Static hosting and serverless APIs can coexist: Microsoft documents integrated API endpoints under an /api route for Azure Static Web Apps. That is one platform example, not evidence that the site in the title uses Azure—or any particular host, framework, or endpoint design. See Microsoft’s API support overview.

The title asserts that an audit found four real holes, but the available evidence does not name those findings or show the audit report. It therefore cannot establish which routes or behaviors were affected, how each issue was demonstrated, what impact it had, or what fix was appropriate. A generic checklist must not be presented as the site’s actual results.

To substantiate four findings, the audit record should identify each affected route or behavior, the evidence that reproduces or demonstrates the issue, its impact, and the remediation. Without that record, the four findings remain unverified.
What a security audit of the route should examine
Authorization belongs on the server-side path
First establish whether the route is meant to be public or serves user-specific or otherwise protected resources. If it protects a resource, enforce authorization in the server-side path that accesses it. A frontend check can improve the user experience, but it cannot decide access securely because callers may reach an endpoint without using the site’s interface. OWASP’s Authorization Cheat Sheet explains why authorization must be enforced server-side.
Validate input and consider the route’s actual behavior
Treat event payloads and request parameters as untrusted. Validate their length, type, and format, then assess injection or unsafe deserialization risks where the route’s operations make them relevant. The right checks depend on what the function does; a generic list cannot establish that a particular vulnerability exists. OWASP covers these practices in its serverless guidance.

- EFFECTIVE PROTECTION: Employs advanced filtering technologies to safeguard against sophisticated threats.
Plan separately for authorization and request-volume abuse
A public route may be called directly, including by clients that never load the website. Consider rate limiting or throttling to control excessive requests and resource consumption. OWASP’s REST guidance identifies HTTP 429 as the response for requests rejected because of rate limits and warns that public services without access control can be farmed, driving bandwidth or compute use.
An API key can help reduce some abuse, but OWASP cautions that it should not be the sole protection for sensitive, critical, or high-value resources. A key does not replace authorization where access to a protected resource must be decided.
Restrict the function’s permissions and network access
Review what the function’s identity can access and remove permissions it does not need. Also check whether its network access is broader than its task requires. OWASP identifies over-permissioned functions and excessive network access as risks; whether either is a finding on a particular site depends on its configuration and evidence.

- 【Up to 1100 Mbps VPN Speed 】 Hardware-accelerated WireGuard and OpenVPN-DCO deliver up to 1100 Mbps VPN throughput, over 3× faster than Brume 2 for smooth remote access and file transfers.
- 【Three 2.5G Ports & Multi-WAN】Tri-port 2.5GbE design with flexible WAN LAN configuration supports multi-gigabit wired setups, dual-ISP Multi-WAN and failover to keep home and SOHO networks online.
- 【Stealth VPN Obfuscation】VPN obfuscation disguises VPN traffic as regular HTTPS, helping you evade blocking, bypass restrictive networks and maintain stable, private connections.
- 【DPI protection】Deep Packet Inspection with visual dashboards blocks adult/gambling/malicious sites, while SQM and QoS prioritize gaming, calls, and video when bandwidth is tight
- 【OpenWrt & USB 3.0 Expansion】OpenWrt with 1GB DDR4 and 8GB eMMC lets you install plugins and build VPN, ad-blocking or NAS, while USB 3.0 Type‑C connects high-speed storage or 4G/5G dongles
Protect secrets and account for runtime reuse
Check for hardcoded secrets and for unsafe storage or reuse of sensitive values. Do not assume a fresh, isolated runtime between invocations; OWASP cautions that execution environments may be reused and recommends careful secret management. A review should report an exposed secret only when evidence shows one.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSet CORS and HTTP methods for the route’s needs
If browser-based cross-origin access is required, allow only the necessary origins. If it is not required, OWASP’s REST guidance recommends disabling CORS headers. Allow only the HTTP methods the route needs.
CORS is not authorization or rate limiting. It governs browser behavior for cross-origin requests; it does not prevent non-browser clients from calling a public endpoint. OWASP discusses CORS, methods, and rate limiting in its REST Security Cheat Sheet.

Log useful events without recording secrets
Monitoring should make route behavior visible without turning logs into another source of sensitive data. OWASP’s Secure Cloud Architecture Cheat Sheet supports using an allow-listed event schema. Useful fields can include method, route template, status, correlation ID, and a non-secret actor identifier. Exclude credentials, session cookies, access tokens, and sensitive request or response content.
Review dependencies and deployment configuration
Include dependency scanning, deployment permissions, function configuration, and relevant cloud settings in the review. OWASP’s serverless and cloud guidance identifies these as part of a broader security posture; the available information does not establish a site-specific issue in any of them.
How to turn an audit observation into a defensible finding
For each claimed hole, make the report answer four questions rather than relying on a label such as “insecure API”:
- Where is the issue? Name the route or behavior and whether it is public or resource-protecting.
- What is the evidence? Describe the observed behavior or configuration that supports the claim.
- What is the impact? Explain what an unauthorized caller or excessive request volume could actually affect, without overstating what the evidence demonstrates.
- What should change? Tie remediation to the demonstrated cause, such as server-side authorization, input validation, a request limit, reduced permissions, or safer logging.
These are reporting questions, not four findings. A finding should be included only when the audit evidence supports it.
