Which disc should you choose?
Start with the kind of film or presentation you most want. If Atmos audio is your priority, the T3 article singles out Edge of Tomorrow and A Complete Unknown. For HDR and colour, it calls attention to The Martian Extended Edition. For a film chosen primarily for its visuals, consider Lowe’s picks of The Batman or Blade Runner: 2049. These are editorial recommendations, not guarantees that the difference will be equally noticeable on every setup.
Check the edition, price and playback setup
- Confirm the listing is the 4K UHD disc. Check the edition name, particularly for The Martian Extended Edition, rather than assuming a listing for the film is the same product.
- Recheck the live Amazon UK price and stock. The figures in the table come from T3’s 6 October 2026 article and may no longer be available.
- Make sure you have a compatible 4K Blu-ray player. Lowe says a PlayStation 5 is fine and names the Panasonic DP-UB820 and DP-UB9000 as higher-tier examples. The article does not provide comparative measurements, so those examples are not a tested ranking.
