Businesses use live streaming to launch products, update employees, train teams, engage customers, and bring conferences to remote audiences. The right format depends on who needs to watch, whether viewers should participate, and what the business wants to do with the recording afterward.
1. Launch products and host marketing events
A live launch can show a product in use, share news as it happens, and let viewers ask questions. It can also reach people who are not in the room. For example, IBM’s customer stories include Mazda product launches and Salesforce’s Dreamforce event; LinkedIn describes Automation Anywhere using LinkedIn Live for a launch. These are examples, not a guarantee that another company’s event will achieve similar results. IBM customer stories · LinkedIn’s Automation Anywhere example

LinkedIn reports that, in its internal data from May 1, 2023, to June 18, 2024, LinkedIn Live videos averaged seven times more reactions and 24 times more comments than native videos from the same broadcasters. LinkedIn also reports higher click-through rates and post-event engagement for a selected group of B2B pilot users pairing LinkedIn Live with paid promotion. These are platform-reported results from the described comparisons, not independent benchmarks or expected outcomes for every campaign. LinkedIn’s reported data and case
2. Share internal updates and town halls
Leadership teams can use a stream to deliver company news, operational updates, or an all-hands meeting to employees across offices and time zones. A broadcast can include live questions when employees need a chance to respond, rather than simply receive an announcement. IBM describes Salesforce’s internal communications use, Panopto lists all-hands events, and Honda’s webcast case included employee and dealership updates with live Q&A. These are vendor-reported customer outcomes, not a controlled study or a forecast for other organizations. Vimeo customer stories
3. Train employees and customers
A live session works well when people need to see a process demonstrated and ask questions while they learn. That might mean onboarding employees, explaining a product to customers, or walking a distributed team through a procedure. A recording can extend the session’s value to people who could not attend or need to revisit the material later. Panopto describes automatic recording and access through a video library, while business-streaming guidance includes training and education among common uses. 4. Run customer webinars and interactive demonstrations
Businesses can host educational sessions, product demonstrations, and customer or prospect Q&A. The live format is most useful when interaction is part of the goal: viewers can submit questions, respond in chat, or see a product demonstrated in real time. Some enterprise livestream products include real-time audio interaction and chat, but the exact options depend on the service chosen. IBM Video Streaming

- Auto-Light Balance: RightLight boosts brightness by up to 50%, reducing shadows so you look your best—compared to previous-generation Logitech webcams (1)
- Privacy with a Slide: The integrated webcam cover makes it easy to get total, reliable privacy when you're not on a video call
- Built-In Mic: The built-in microphone lets others hear you clearly during video calls
- Easy Plug-And-Play: The Brio 101 works with most video calling platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet—no hassle; it just works
Commerce livestreams are a related format: a business presents products live and may promote them during the stream. A 2025 filing discusses merchants’ self-operated streams and promotional activity; it does not establish that live selling suits every business or market. 2025 filing
5. Stream conferences and hybrid events
A livestream lets remote attendees follow a conference, company event, or presentation without traveling to the venue. It can extend access while the in-person event continues to serve people who value networking or hands-on activity. A recording can then make talks available for later viewing. IBM presents virtual-event examples, and business-streaming guidance identifies conferences and hybrid events as common uses. Streaming provides another way to attend; it does not necessarily replace the benefits of being there in person. IBM customer stories · IBM Video Streaming

How to choose the right use case and format
- Start with the audience: Decide whether the stream is for employees, customers, partners, investors, or the public. The audience determines where the event should be hosted and how access should be managed.
- Choose the interaction level: A simple update may need only a broadcast. A launch, webinar, or training session may benefit from chat, live Q&A, or a product demonstration.
- Match production effort to the stakes: A brief update has different needs from a multi-speaker launch or investor event. Multiple speakers, clean audio requirements, and the consequences of technical trouble can justify extra equipment or professional production support. A basic stream may need little additional equipment; there is no universal setup established for every room or event. IBM Video Streaming
- Plan the after-event use: Decide in advance whether to keep a recording, add captions, publish it to a managed video library, or use it for training and follow-up. Recording can turn a one-time event into material people can watch later. Panopto customer stories
- Separate reach from attendance: Streaming can give remote viewers access, but it does not prove that an online event is always better than an in-person one. Consider whether participants need networking, hands-on activities, or access to the venue.
What reported results can—and cannot—tell you
Reported figures show what particular platforms, vendors, or customers say happened in their own settings. They should not be read as guaranteed gains. LinkedIn’s engagement and campaign figures are based on its internal data and described comparison groups; Panopto and Vimeo present named customer outcomes; and CSI Magazine’s December 2024 report of Tata Communications research covered 300 enterprises in the United States and United Kingdom. That survey reported that 98% used live streaming for key events, 96% found it effective for internal communication, 83% valued it for customer engagement, and 76% for investor engagement. Those are survey findings for the sample as reported, not universal rates for businesses worldwide. CSI Magazine
