You can try AI-assisted marketing without paying upfront, but “free” does not mean unlimited—and it does not guarantee every AI feature is included in a free account. These five capabilities cover different jobs: graphics, social media, CRM-connected marketing work, copy drafts and email campaigns. Start with the task that is slowing your business down most, then check the vendor’s current plan details before building a workflow around it.
At a glance: what each free option actually offers
| Tool or capability | Best fit | What the free plan establishes | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canva AI | Marketing graphics and visual assets | Canva lists a Free plan with up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses. The allowance is shared, and different tools consume it at different rates. | How many uses your chosen task consumes and whether the allowance suits your production needs. |
| Buffer AI assistant | Social content and a small publishing workflow | Buffer’s plan comparison lists a Free tier and AI reply suggestions. | Current channel, scheduling, analytics and AI availability limits. |
| HubSpot Breeze Assistant | Marketing work connected to a CRM | Marketing Hub Free is listed for up to two users, with no credit card required. HubSpot identifies Breeze Assistant among its products. | Whether Breeze features are enabled for your particular free account. |
| HubSpot AI Content Writer | First drafts of marketing copy in HubSpot | HubSpot identifies AI Content Writer among its product capabilities. The free Marketing Hub listing does not establish that this feature is included. | Access and limits in your account before adopting it as a free workflow. |
| Mailchimp generative AI | Drafting email campaigns | Mailchimp lists generative AI features, while its pricing comparison shows a limited free plan and places AI features in the paid-plan comparison. | Whether the specific feature is available under your plan and in your region. |
These are five capabilities from four vendors, not five interchangeable all-in-one platforms. The free-plan details below reflect the vendors’ published information checked on October 13, 2026; plan terms and feature access can change.

1. Canva AI for marketing graphics
Use Canva AI when the bottleneck is producing visual assets such as social graphics or other marketing designs. Canva lists a Free plan with up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses. That is a limited way to try AI-assisted design, not an allowance for unlimited production: the AI tools draw from a shared pool, and more complex tasks may use more of it.
Before making it part of a regular content schedule, check Canva’s pricing and free-plan comparison and estimate how quickly your usual tasks would consume the allowance. Review generated designs for accuracy, readability, brand consistency and image suitability before publishing.

2. Buffer AI assistant for a small social workflow
Buffer is a practical starting point if you need to manage social content and responses in one workflow. Its pricing comparison lists a Free tier and AI reply suggestions. That supports trying the assistant for drafting replies, but it does not establish that every channel, scheduling capacity, analytics feature or AI function is unlimited or available on the free tier.
Check the current Buffer pricing comparison against the social channels you use and the cadence you need. Treat suggested replies as drafts: confirm the facts, tone and context, especially before responding to complaints, customer-specific questions or sensitive issues.

3. HubSpot Breeze Assistant for CRM-connected marketing
If your marketing work is already organized around customer records, HubSpot’s free Marketing Hub may be worth exploring. HubSpot lists the free plan for up to two users and says it does not require a credit card. Its product navigation also identifies Breeze Assistant, an AI assistant within HubSpot’s product capabilities.

Those facts do not prove that Breeze Assistant—or every AI function—is included in every free account. Check the feature in your own account before planning around it. HubSpot’s Marketing Hub pricing page sets out the free plan, while its product navigation identifies its AI offerings.
Rank #3
4. HubSpot AI Content Writer for first drafts
HubSpot AI Content Writer is a separate writing workflow to consider if you want to draft marketing copy within HubSpot. It belongs in the shortlist as a capability, not as a separate vendor from Breeze Assistant. The free Marketing Hub listing alone does not establish that the writer is free to use.
Open your account and confirm whether the writer is available, what limits apply and whether the output can be used in the workflow you intend. Use generated copy as a first draft: verify product details and claims, adapt the voice to your business, and check links and calls to action before sending or publishing. HubSpot lists the writer among its product capabilities through its product navigation.
Rank #4
5. Mailchimp generative AI for email campaign drafts
Mailchimp is a conditional option if your business already uses email marketing and wants help drafting campaign content. Its pricing page lists generative AI features, but the free plan is limited and the plan comparison presents AI features in the paid-plan context. Do not assume that having free email access includes the AI tools you want.

How to choose the right first tool
Pick the tool that matches your most frequent bottleneck rather than trying to adopt all five at once.
- Need more visual assets? Try Canva AI, while tracking its shared use allowance.
- Need help with social publishing or replies? Check whether Buffer’s free workflow covers your channels and schedule.
- Need marketing work tied to customer records? Explore HubSpot, but verify AI access in the account rather than inferring it from the free plan.
- Need email campaign drafts? Check Mailchimp’s plan-specific AI access before treating it as a free option.
For any tool, compare five things before committing: the task it covers, the free allowance, whether the AI feature itself is included, the human review its output needs, and the point at which you would need a paid plan. Vendor plan pages are the authoritative place to recheck changing caps and entitlements.
