The five options below cover gaming and office work, but the fifth is a work-focused alternative—not part of the same four-model comparative ranking.

Which monitor suits your main use?
For high-end gaming and a one-monitor setup
The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen3 combines 4K QD-OLED with a maximum 240Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, and a USB-C hub that supplies up to 90W. RTINGS highlights its motion clarity, HDR image quality, and laptop connectivity. It is the most versatile of these gaming choices, but its full refresh-rate potential requires a system capable of driving demanding 4K games at high frame rates.
#1 Best Overall
- Samsung’s 32” Odyssey G5 QHD Gaming Monitor delivers brilliant visuals for exhilarating gameplay that’s more immersive than ever before.
- QHD resolution (2560 x 1440) boasts incredibly detailed, pin-sharp images.
- With a wide 178° viewing angle, the IPS panel consistently delivers crisp, clear hues from various viewpoints.
- 180Hz Refresh Rate and 1ms response time (GtG) allow fast reactions for ultra-smooth gaming, plus G-Sync compatibility syncs the GPU and panel to reduce choppiness, screen lag, and image tearing.
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadows for added depth.
For fast gaming with a flexible refresh mode
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G73SH S32HG732S offers 4K OLED at 165Hz and a dual mode that reaches 330Hz at 1080p. That mode trades resolution for refresh rate, so it is useful if you prioritize responsiveness in competitive games over fine detail. RTINGS says its colors are less vivid than the ASUS’s and that it lacks a USB hub.
For 4K gaming in a darker room
The Dell S3225QC is a 4K QD-OLED monitor with a 120Hz maximum refresh rate and 90W USB-C power delivery. RTINGS places it in the mid-range category and says it is best suited to darker rooms: bright-room black levels and glare performance are weaker than the comparison model. Dell announced a US$799.99 launch price and worldwide availability beginning May 22, 2025; that is historical launch information, not today’s retail price. Dell’s 2025 announcement.

For a lower-cost route to a large, fast gaming display
The Dell Alienware AW3225DM uses a QHD VA panel, running at up to 180Hz. RTINGS identifies it as its budget pick and notes that it can be bright in a lit room. Its 2560 × 1440 resolution is less demanding to render than 4K, but text is less sharp and HDR is less capable than on the higher-priced OLED options in the same guide.
For office work and laptop connectivity
The Dell Pro 32 Plus P3225QE is a 31.5-inch 4K IPS display rated for up to 100Hz, with an adjustable stand and USB-C power delivery up to 90W in Dell’s US catalog. It is the clearest work-first option among these five, particularly if you want one cable for a compatible laptop’s video and charging. Dell’s catalog specifications do not by themselves establish how it performs in color-critical creative work, so check independent testing if that is your priority.

For a more premium hub-focused alternative, RTINGS describes the Dell U3225QE as a 4K option with a USB hub and Thunderbolt 4. Dell announced a US$949.99 launch price and global availability beginning February 25, 2025; the launch figure is not a current price. Dell’s U3225QE announcement.
How to choose resolution and refresh rate
Resolution determines how much detail the screen can show; refresh rate is how often it can update the image each second. A 4K 32-inch panel gives more detail than QHD, which can help with fine text, detailed visuals, and a larger workspace. Higher refresh rates make motion appear smoother, especially in fast games. They do not guarantee a high frame rate: the computer or console must be able to render and output the chosen resolution at that speed.

- Ascend your game with the speed of UltraGear - Experience next-level QHD gaming performance.
- 180Hz Refresh Rate & 1ms GtG - Gear up for smooth gameplay at up to 180Hz refresh rate and 1ms GtG. The faster speed and smoother action lets you respond quickly to stay a step ahead of the competition.
- 1000R Curved Screen - This UltraGear monitor's dramatic and steep 1000R curve draws you in with game play by extending the periphery to feel like you're surround by the action.
- AMD FreeSync - AMD FreeSync equips gamers with a fluid, virtually tear-free gaming experience. With up to a 180Hz refresh rate at Full HD resolution and low latency gameplay, you'll never miss a frame of the action as you play at peak performance.
- Gamer-Centric Design - Lose yourself in the game with a three-side virtually borderless, ultra-thin design that optimizes space on your battlestation. With two HMDI ports and DisplayPort connectivity on a tilt adjustable display, game to your specs.
- Choose 4K when: your hardware can handle it, you value detail, or your work benefits from a high-resolution desktop.
- Choose QHD when: you want to reduce the graphics load or prioritize high frame rates without paying for a 4K gaming setup.
- Check dual-mode behavior: the Samsung’s 330Hz mode is at 1080p, not 4K. Make sure the resolution and refresh-rate combinations match the games and hardware you actually use.
LG’s UK gaming-monitor guide similarly advises matching monitor specifications to games, hardware, and available space. Its recommendations are general guidance; check the capabilities of your own graphics card, console, and connection before deciding. LG’s gaming monitor buying guide.
Panel type, lighting, and image quality
Panel labels are a starting point, not a guarantee of a particular picture. OLED can produce deep blacks and vivid HDR, but the experience depends on the model and room. RTINGS specifically cautions that the Dell S3225QC performs better in darker rooms because its black levels and glare handling are weaker in bright conditions.
- OLED and QD-OLED: consider these for contrast, HDR, and gaming responsiveness, while checking model-specific bright-room performance.
- IPS: often a practical fit for office use and wide viewing angles; the P3225QE is an IPS productivity option, but its exact image performance should be judged from model-specific testing.
- VA: can offer strong contrast, though motion behavior and viewing characteristics vary by display. The AW3225DM’s specific trade-offs include lower text sharpness and less capable HDR than the OLED alternatives in RTINGS’ comparison.
Check connections, charging, and desk fit
Before ordering, match the monitor’s ports and stand to your devices and desk. USB-C may carry video and charge a laptop, but charging wattage and hub features differ: the ASUS and Dell S3225QC review entries specify 90W, and Dell’s US listing gives the P3225QE up to 90W. A USB-C port alone does not establish that a monitor has the power or hub functions you need.
- Confirm the required HDMI or DisplayPort connection and whether it supports your target resolution and refresh rate.
- If you plan to connect a laptop over USB-C, check video support, power delivery wattage, and whether the monitor includes the USB hub or Ethernet features you need.
- Check stand adjustments—height, tilt, swivel, and pivot—against the exact model listing; “adjustable” does not specify every movement.
- Measure the panel, stand footprint, and viewing distance. A 31.5-inch panel may be marketed as 32 inches, but the full monitor is larger than its diagonal measurement.
Check regional availability and current pricing
Prices and stock change, and product configurations can differ by country. The US-specific Dell catalog and 2025 launch announcements are useful for identifying features and historical launch figures, not for establishing current local prices. Check the exact model suffix, ports, warranty, and in-stock price from a retailer or manufacturer serving your region before purchase.
