A fair answer requires running the same brief, files, assets, and tool conditions through all three, then comparing the finished pages and their behavior—not code volume or confident explanations.
Which AI coding agent is best for building a landing page?
There is no supported winner among Codex, Claude Code, and Gemini CLI for this specific task. A June 12, 2026 third-party comparison covers these agents in deployment workflows, not a controlled landing-page build, so it can orient readers to the products but cannot settle which one produces the strongest page. A 2026 arXiv study analyzed 7,156 pull requests from five coding agents, including Codex and Claude Code. Its reported acceptance rates—82.1% for documentation tasks and 66.1% for new-feature tasks—are specific to that dataset. The study does not compare Gemini CLI or measure landing-page quality, so those figures are context about how results can vary by task, not a prediction of success on a page build. See the study.

What a fair landing-page comparison should test
Give each agent the same starting repository, brief, design references and assets. Keep the time limit, interaction budget, permissions, and available tools consistent. Record the exact agent, model version, plan, prompts, and run conditions: product configurations change, and results from one setup should not be generalized to another.

Assess the page in the browser
- Compare the rendered page with the brief and any reference design. Separate measurable requirements from subjective design judgments.
- Check the layout at both mobile and desktop widths, including whether content remains legible and controls stay usable.
- Try the navigation, forms, and other promised interactions. A page that looks complete but has broken controls is not a successful build.
- Review accessibility basics, code maintainability, setup friction, and the human corrections needed to finish the work.
- Inspect console and network errors, and note how well the agent diagnoses browser problems.
Make the result inspectable
Save the initial brief, follow-up prompts, model and plan details, tool permissions, elapsed time, final files, and browser screenshots. Repeat runs if feasible. If the comparison is not controlled or repeated, describe it as an editorial test rather than a general benchmark.
What the documented capabilities do—and do not—show
Codex
OpenAI describes Codex CLI as a local-repository workflow for inspecting code, making changes, running commands, steering work, and reviewing diffs. That is relevant to evaluating the full coding process, but it does not establish the quality of its landing pages relative to the other agents. Codex CLI documentation.

OpenAI also documents controlled Chrome DevTools Protocol access in Codex developer mode, including inspection of console output, network traffic, page state, and JavaScript performance. This could matter when debugging a page, but it should count in a comparison only if the same browser-debugging conditions are available to every agent. Codex browser-debugging documentation.
OpenAI describes a Codex skill for using Figma design context, assets, and screenshots in UI implementation. That is a documented workflow, not independent proof of visual fidelity; evaluate the resulting page against the design rather than assuming the capability guarantees a match. Codex Figma workflow.
Gemini CLI and current documentation
Google recommends giving coding agents current official Gemini documentation. Its developer resources include a live Docs MCP server and machine-readable documentation, and list support for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex as well. This is especially relevant when a task involves Gemini API code; it is not a general ranking of front-end agents. Google notes: “AI coding agents rely on training data that cuts off at a set date.” Google AI for Developers documentation.

A same-conditions comparison can support a conclusion about the tested configurations and task. It cannot, by itself, prove that one agent is universally best: model versions, plans, tools, prompts, and run conditions can affect outcomes. With no named landing-page benchmark or comparative landing-page result established here, a verdict beyond that would overstate the evidence.
