These 21 WordPress website examples show how differently the platform can serve a business, publication, store, portfolio, podcast, or local restaurant. Rather than treating “best” as an objective ranking, use them as design inspiration: identify a site with a purpose like yours, then study how it handles navigation, content, visual identity, and the visitor’s next step.
How to use these WordPress website examples
The examples below come from WPBeginner’s January 8, 2026 editorial selection. It describes choosing sites for design and usability, but does not publish scores or a reproducible weighting for its criteria. The sites are therefore useful references, not a measured ranking. Compare a site against the job your own visitors need to do: find a menu, understand a service, browse products, read an article, or hear an episode. Look at whether its navigation and content presentation make that job clear, and whether a relevant action—such as booking, subscribing, contacting, or checking out—is easy to find.
Business and enterprise sites: build trust and make information findable
Awesome Motive
Awesome Motive presents a company, its products, and its broader impact. It is a useful reference for organizing several related products under one company identity while giving visitors a clear way to understand what the organization does.
Houston Zoo
A visitor-facing organization has practical questions to answer as well as a brand to express. Houston Zoo is an example to study for how a site can prioritize navigation and visitor logistics alongside its subject matter.
Grette
Professional-services firms need to communicate expertise and help prospective clients find the right people. Grette’s staff profiles and expertise pages make it a relevant model for presenting a team and its services.
Software sites: explain a product and give visitors a next step
SeedProd
SeedProd is a software-site example focused on explaining features and directing visitors toward calls to action. Study how a product page connects its description to the next step rather than treating a feature list as the whole sales experience.

WPForms uses templates and product use cases to help visitors understand what they can do with the software. That approach can make an abstract tool easier to evaluate by connecting it to familiar tasks.
Blogs and publications: organize content for reading and discovery
WPBeginner
WPBeginner combines tutorials with a glossary. For a resource-heavy site, that pairing offers two useful routes into the material: step-by-step help and concise explanations of unfamiliar terms.
Rank #2
Blog Tyrant
Blog Tyrant pairs blogging guidance with lead generation. It is worth studying how an educational site can make its resources useful while also presenting a clear way for interested readers to continue.
The New York Times
The New York Times example is described as using a newspaper-inspired “NewsPrint” style. It shows how a publication can draw on familiar editorial conventions to establish a strong visual identity.
The Next Web
The Next Web emphasizes featured stories and clear sections. For a site publishing many topics, visible hierarchy can help visitors distinguish the lead story from the broader article mix.
Music and entertainment: let imagery reinforce the brand
Sony Music
Sony Music uses artist imagery and branded color to create a strongly visual experience. The useful lesson is to make imagery and color serve the identity of the subject rather than compete with it.
Angry Birds
Angry Birds is another entertainment example in the 2026 selection. It belongs in a review of branded, character-led sites: consider how the visual world of a property can carry through to its web presence.
Online stores: make product discovery part of the experience
R.E.D.D Superfood Energy Bars
R.E.D.D presents its bars as products to browse and buy. It is a relevant reference for a food brand considering how product presentation can support a direct shopping path.

Nove
Nove’s presentation uses full-screen video, transparent navigation, and custom page templates. It demonstrates a more immersive agency style; when borrowing the approach, check that key information remains easy to reach.
Unconquered
Unconquered uses a video slider and interactive identity. It is an example of motion and interaction being central to a studio’s presentation, rather than relying on a conventional static portfolio grid.
Personal brands and portfolios: introduce the person, then show the work
Sean O’Brien
Sean O’Brien’s site foregrounds credentials and partnerships. That structure can help a personal brand establish context before asking visitors to explore specific work or collaborations.

Podcast sites: make episodes and archives easy to explore
99% Invisible
99% Invisible pairs episode content with an integrated player. The combination helps visitors move from discovering an episode to listening without separating the show’s editorial presentation from its audio.
The Beerists
The Beerists uses episode descriptions and archives. For a podcast with a back catalogue, descriptive entries give a visitor more to go on than a list of episode titles alone.
Restaurant sites: answer practical questions quickly
Pho Cafe
Pho Cafe brings together its menu, reservations, delivery, and key visitor information. For a local restaurant, these are practical tasks to make discoverable before a visitor has to search elsewhere.
Momofuku
Momofuku uses image-led navigation and maintains a separate ecommerce store. It is a useful example of a restaurant brand serving both visitors interested in its food and shoppers looking for products.

What these examples do—and do not—tell you about WordPress
WordPress sites range from blogs and local businesses to large publications and ecommerce stores. The examples do not point to one required design or technical setup. WPBeginner notes that WordPress.com is a hosted option, while WordPress.org/self-hosted WordPress is another route, and that the featured sites use custom themes and varied technologies. A site’s appearance alone does not tell you which theme, plugins, or stack it currently uses.

A practical checklist for adapting a design
- Start with the visitor’s task. Decide what someone should be able to find or do on the site.
- Check navigation and readability. Look for clear labels, a sensible content hierarchy, and text that is comfortable to scan.
- Trace the useful action. Follow the path to a booking, contact form, subscription, purchase, or episode play button.
- Review the small-screen experience. Check responsive navigation and whether prominent images or media make core content cumbersome on a phone. The examples above are not presented as performance tests.
- Keep visual identity in service of the purpose. Color, imagery, video, and interaction should make the site more recognizable or useful, not obscure its main content.
- Verify the current implementation. Designs and underlying technologies can change, so do not treat an example as proof of a specific theme, plugin, or build method.
