The Canon MAXIFY GX4060 MegaTank is a four-function small-business printer with print, copy, scan and fax, plus an automatic document feeder, Wi-Fi and wired LAN. Canon’s published specifications make it a plausible fit for a small office that needs those features and refillable ink; they do not establish real-world print quality, reliability or cost per page. Whether it is worth buying depends on its current Australian price and how your office prints.
What the Canon MAXIFY GX4060 does
Canon Australia describes the GX4060 as a small-business “4-in-1” printer. Its functions are printing, copying, scanning and faxing. Canon lists a print resolution of 600 × 1200 dpi and document speeds of 18 ipm for black and 13 ipm for color. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of speed or output quality in a particular office.

For document workflows, Canon’s launch announcement specifies a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) and a 2.7-inch color touchscreen. The available specifications establish the ADF’s capacity, but do not establish duplex scanning or copying performance.

Paper capacity and handling
Canon lists a 250-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet rear tray for plain paper, for 350 sheets across the two feeds. The rear tray can handle rigid media up to 0.7 mm thick, including posterboard, according to Canon. Check Canon’s current specifications for a particular paper size or stock, and confirm which tray supports it.

How much ink does the GX4060 use, and what is the page yield?
Canon Australia estimates that replacement bottles can yield up to 6,000 black pages or up to 14,000 color pages. These are separate estimates, not a combined page count. Canon says the figures use the ISO/IEC 24712 color chart and continuous-printing simulation with replacement bottles after initial setup; actual yield varies substantially with document content and other factors.
Canon also gives Economy mode estimates of up to 9,000 black pages and up to 21,000 color pages. These remain estimates under Canon’s stated method, not promises for a specific workload. The first set of bottles yields less than replacement bottles because some ink is used to fill the print head during initial setup.

Those yield figures alone do not establish your cost per page. A meaningful calculation also needs current local bottle prices, your black-to-color mix and a realistic estimate of the pages you print.
Which ink bottles and maintenance cartridge does it use?
The GX4060 uses Canon GI-66 ink bottles: GI-66BK black, GI-66C cyan, GI-66M magenta and GI-66Y yellow. Canon lists up to 6,000 pages for the black bottle and up to 14,000 for each color bottle, subject to the yield conditions above.

For maintenance, Canon identifies the MC-G03 cartridge as compatible and designed for user replacement. Canon also describes the print head as user-replaceable and the paper roller as cleanable. These are serviceability features; they do not indicate how often a part will need attention.

Canon lists Wi-Fi, wired LAN and USB-B connectivity, along with support for the Canon PRINT app, Apple AirPrint and Mopria. A USB cable is not included. Canon says ink must be present in each tank for all functions, and some functions may require an internet connection.

Is the Canon MAXIFY GX4060 worth buying for a small business?
It is worth considering if your office needs fax as well as print, copy and scan, regularly handles multi-page documents through an ADF, and values refillable GI-66 ink, both wired and wireless networking, and the stated 350-sheet plain-paper capacity. The available product information does not show whether it is a better buy than a rival or whether its output, reliability or real-world running cost will suit your workload.
Before deciding, compare the current price in your market, expected monthly volume, how much color you print, ADF requirements, paper handling, connectivity and the cost of replacement bottles. For a purchasing decision based on output quality or reliability, look for independent testing that covers the same kind of documents and workload you expect to use.
