What the 65W and 100W labels actually mean
Watts measure the maximum rate at which a power bank can deliver power. A 100W label does not mean the bank stores twice as much energy as a 65W model, nor does it force 100W into every device. Watt-hours (Wh) describe stored energy and are the more useful figure when estimating how long a laptop can run. Milliamp-hours (mAh) describe charge quantity at a stated voltage, so mAh values from different products are not directly comparable unless their voltage basis is the same. UGREEN’s buying guidance recommends checking Wh as well as mAh for laptop power banks.

For example, a bank can provide 100W from one USB-C port yet contain less energy than a 65W bank with a larger battery. Conversely, a 20,000mAh pack may run a laptop longer than a 10,000mAh pack even if both advertise the same output. Look for the manufacturer’s Wh rating and then check how that energy is divided among ports.

USB-C Power Delivery (PD) is a negotiation between the laptop, power bank and cable. The laptop requests a voltage and current profile it supports; the bank offers its available profiles; the cable must be rated for the requested level. A 100W-capable bank therefore charges a 65W laptop at the laptop’s accepted rate rather than pushing 100W into it.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Before buying, read the laptop’s original charger label or specification. The charger’s wattage is a practical upper target, but the laptop also needs a compatible USB-C PD input. Some computers require a particular PD voltage profile or will charge slowly, hold steady, or continue discharging under heavy load if the available profile is insufficient.
- Laptop requirement: identify the charger wattage and confirm that charging over USB-C PD is supported.
- Power-bank profile: verify that the bank lists a PD output matching the laptop’s required voltage and current.
- Cable rating: use a USB-C cable explicitly rated for the output you intend to draw; an unsuitable cable can reduce power or prevent charging.
- Operating load: gaming, compiling, video exports and external displays can consume more power than light office work.

When a 65W power bank is the better buy
A 65W-or-lower ultrabook
If the laptop’s supplied charger is 45W or 65W and its USB-C port accepts PD, a 65W bank can provide the intended charging rate. There is no benefit in paying for a 100W ceiling that the laptop cannot use unless you need the extra output for another device. The Anker 733 Power Bank (GaNPrime PowerCore 65W) is a representative example: its stated cell capacity is 10,000mAh and its USB-C output is up to 65W.
Phone-and-tablet travel kits
For a laptop, tablet and phone carried together, a 65W bank can be the compact choice when the laptop is light-duty and the devices are charged one at a time. Check how the maker allocates output when more than one port is occupied; the single-port figure may not remain available during simultaneous charging.
Prioritising portability
Output wattage is only one part of travel convenience. Compare the published dimensions and weight, then compare Wh. A high-capacity 65W model can be heavier than a small 100W model, so do not infer portability from the wattage number.
When 100W is worth paying for
Laptops with chargers above 65W
Performance laptops and some larger creator-focused systems ship with chargers above 65W. A 65W bank may charge such a computer slowly, fail to keep up with workload, or show a “slow charger” warning. A 100W bank gives the laptop access to a higher negotiated profile, but it still cannot exceed the laptop’s own USB-C limit.

Heavy use while plugged in
Headroom matters when the computer is drawing power for a sustained workload. If the laptop consumes close to 65W during that work, a 65W bank has little margin for conversion losses or changing demand. A 100W-capable output can reduce that constraint when the laptop and cable support the required profile.
One bank for several devices
A 100W bank is useful when one USB-C port must feed the laptop while another powers a tablet, phone or accessory. The UGREEN Nexode 25188 illustrates the class: it lists 20,000mAh and 72Wh, with USB-C1 output up to 100W, USB-C2 up to 30W and USB-A up to 22.5W. Those are port maximums, not a promise that every port can deliver its maximum simultaneously; consult the model’s sharing table.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCapacity: how many laptop charges does 20,000mAh provide?
There is no universal answer from “20,000mAh” alone. Start with the bank’s Wh rating and the laptop battery’s Wh rating:
Estimated full charges = bank Wh × real-world conversion efficiency ÷ laptop battery Wh
The efficiency term cannot be assumed from the label. Energy is lost while the bank converts its internal battery voltage to USB-C output and the laptop converts that input back into battery energy, so delivered energy is lower than the nominal stored amount. Laptop workload, battery-management limits and charging at high power also change the result.

UGREEN lists its 20,000mAh Nexode 25188 at 72Wh and gives a manufacturer estimate of up to 1.1 charges for a 15-inch MacBook Air. That is a maker estimate, not an independently controlled test, and it should not be applied to every laptop. A laptop with a smaller battery may receive more complete charges; a larger battery or a computer used heavily during charging may receive fewer.

For comparison, UGREEN’s Nexode 35526B is listed at 12,000mAh and 44.4Wh while still offering up to 100W output. Its lower Wh rating means shorter potential runtime than a 72Wh pack, despite the same headline output. The Baseus Blade is described by its maker as a 20,000mAh, 100W model; use its stated Wh figure, not the mAh number alone, when comparing it with another pack.
Output wattage is not recharge speed
Check two separate specifications: maximum output to your devices and maximum input while the bank itself is recharging. UGREEN explicitly lists the Nexode 25188 as capable of up to 100W USB-C1 output but only up to 65W USB-C1 input. It can therefore charge a laptop at a high rate while taking longer to refill than a bank that accepts 100W input.
Recharge time also depends on the wall charger, cable, battery state and the bank’s charging curve. No exact refill time should be inferred from “100W” unless the manufacturer publishes one under defined conditions.
Port sharing can change the advertised result
Manufacturers normally quote the highest output for a particular port in isolation. Connecting a second device can trigger a lower combined limit or reduce the first port’s available power. Before purchase, find the model’s simultaneous-output table and answer these questions:

- Does USB-C1 retain its full rating when USB-C2 or USB-A is active?
- What is the combined wattage across all ports?
- Which port supports laptop-class PD profiles?
- Does the bank pause and renegotiate charging when another device is connected?
The Nexode 25188’s separate listings—100W on USB-C1, 30W on USB-C2 and 22.5W on USB-A—show why port labels matter. They do not establish the combined output without the maker’s sharing specification.
Physical design, cable choice and small-device charging
Weight and dimensions
More Wh generally means more battery material, while higher output can require additional power electronics and cooling. The relationship is not exact, so compare published dimensions and weight for the specific models you are considering. If airline eligibility is important, Wh and the pack’s printed rating matter more than mAh marketing.
Cable rating
A 100W bank needs a cable rated for 100W to deliver its full advertised output. A cable with a lower rating can become the limiting component even when both the laptop and bank support 100W. Keep the cable specification with the bank when travelling; do not assume every USB-C cable has the same power capability.
Low-current mode
Earbuds, watches and some compact accessories draw so little current that a normal charging session may time out. A dedicated low-current or trickle mode can solve that, but availability is model-specific. The cited 65W and 100W examples do not establish a low-current feature in the specifications provided, so check the manual before relying on one for small devices.

Can you take a 100W power bank on a plane?
Airline eligibility is based on watt-hours and the carrier’s current rules, not on the 100W output label. UGREEN lists the 20,000mAh Nexode 25188 at 72Wh. Anker describes 100Wh as a common threshold while telling travellers to check the airline’s current policy. A 72Wh pack is below that commonly cited threshold, but the airline, route and local regulations control the decision.

Read the policy immediately before travel and keep the manufacturer’s Wh marking legible. Do not substitute an mAh-only calculation when the airline asks for Wh; use the value printed or specified for that exact model.

A practical buying process
- Record the laptop’s requirement. Read the original charger and laptop manual for wattage and USB-C PD support.
- Set the output floor. Choose at least the laptop’s supported charging rate; move to 100W when the requirement exceeds 65W or when heavy workloads need headroom.
- Compare Wh. Use Wh to compare expected runtime. Treat mAh as supporting information, not the deciding capacity figure.
- Inspect port allocation. Confirm which USB-C port carries the laptop profile and what happens when other ports are occupied.
- Check input wattage. If fast turnaround between trips matters, compare the bank’s maximum recharge input with the wall charger you own.
- Match the cable. Select a cable rated for the chosen output and long enough for comfortable use.
- Verify travel rules. Check the current airline policy against the exact model’s printed Wh rating.
Common mistakes and fixes
Choosing by watts alone
Symptom: a 100W bank runs out sooner than expected. Fix: compare Wh; the bank may have a smaller energy store than a lower-wattage alternative.
Assuming 100W is automatic
Symptom: the laptop reports slow charging. Fix: check the laptop’s PD profile, the active USB-C port and the cable rating. The bank cannot override a lower device limit.
Ignoring simultaneous charging limits
Symptom: laptop charging slows when a phone is connected. Fix: consult the bank’s combined-output table and connect the laptop to the designated high-power port.
Expecting a fast refill because output is fast
Symptom: a 100W bank takes a long time to recharge. Fix: check input wattage; a 100W output bank may accept only 65W input, as documented for the Nexode 25188.
Using an mAh number for airline screening
Symptom: uncertainty at check-in about battery size. Fix: use the model’s stated Wh rating and the airline’s current policy.
The bottom line
Buy a 65W power bank for a USB-C laptop rated at 65W or less when compactness, weight or cost is the priority. Buy a 100W model for a laptop that needs more than 65W, sustained high-load work, or a laptop-plus-device setup that benefits from extra output headroom. In either case, choose by the complete specification: Wh for runtime, PD profile and cable for compatibility, port-sharing limits for multi-device use, input wattage for refill speed, and the exact Wh marking for air travel.
