10 OVHcloud Alternatives: How to Choose the Right Cloud Provider

Explore 10 OVHcloud alternatives, then compare workload fit, service model, configuration, region, billing, and support before choosing.

Ten providers to consider as OVHcloud alternatives are DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Vultr, Linode (Akamai Cloud), Scaleway, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and IBM Cloud. They are candidates to compare—not a universal ranking: the right fit depends on your workload, region, budget, and how much infrastructure you want to manage.

Which OVHcloud alternatives are worth considering?

This shortlist draws from providers named in DigitalOcean’s comparison of Hetzner alternatives. That makes it a useful starting point for discovery, not proof that every provider matches OVHcloud’s products or is equally suitable for a particular job. Alibaba Cloud is another provider in that broader comparison space, but is not included in this ten-provider list.

  1. DigitalOcean: A candidate to investigate for virtual machines and managed cloud services. Its documentation covers virtual machines, managed containers, platform-as-a-service offerings, and serverless functions.
  2. Hetzner: A provider to compare when evaluating cloud infrastructure options, particularly against the same specific workload and configuration.
  3. Vultr: Another cloud-provider candidate; confirm product details and regional availability for the workload you have in mind.
  4. Linode (Akamai Cloud): A provider to include in a cloud shortlist. Check the current product catalog and terms for the services you need.
  5. Scaleway: A further option to investigate, with fit depending on the required services, location, and operating model.
  6. AWS: Consider it if you need to evaluate a cloud provider against your required infrastructure and service model; compare the particular products rather than the brand name alone.
  7. Microsoft Azure: Include it in a comparison when its available services and operating requirements fit your organization’s needs.
  8. Google Cloud Platform: A candidate for a like-for-like evaluation, with product choice and region requiring verification.
  9. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: Compare its current offerings and terms against the workload you plan to run.
  10. IBM Cloud: Another provider to assess against your technical, geographic, and operational requirements.

The available evidence does not establish comparable specifications, prices, regional coverage, support terms, or service-level agreements for all ten. Treat the list as a set of options to investigate, not as a recommendation that one is better than another.

How to narrow the shortlist

1. Decide what kind of service you need

First determine whether you need a self-managed virtual machine, managed containers, a platform-as-a-service product, or serverless functions. These models shift responsibility differently: with a virtual machine, you generally manage more of the operating environment yourself, while managed and serverless options change what the provider operates for you. DigitalOcean’s documentation describes examples across these compute categories, but that is not a feature-by-feature comparison of every provider on this list. Its official documentation defines Droplets as Linux-based virtual machines: DigitalOcean Droplets documentation.

#1 Best Overall
GeeekPi 8U Network Rack, 10 inch Mini Server Rack for Network, Servers, Audio, and Video Equipment, DeskPi RackMate T1, 7.87 inch Depth
  • 【DeskPi RackMate T1】It's made of aluminum alloy and acrylic frame mini chassis which you can setup your own cluster or home assistant server. For 10 inch 4U Server Cabinet (DeskPi RackMate T0), please refer to ASIN B0DPGZPTPP. For 10 inch 12U Server Cabinet (DeskPi RackMate T2), please refer to ASIN B0DT2XM22G.
  • 【10-inch width】The cabinet has a width of 10 inches, which is a relatively small size that saves space while accommodating sufficient equipment. With dimensions of 11x7.8x16 inches, it is suitable for small offices, home environments, and large enterprises looking to save space.
  • 【Open Design】The cabinet adopts an open design, allowing easy access to all devices inside. This design facilitates equipment installation and maintenance, aids in device cooling, and maintains optimal working conditions.
  • 【8U Standard】The cabinet has a height of 8U, which is a standard unit size. With 1U equaling 1.75 inches, 8U implies a height of 14 inches.
  • 【Translucent Design】Both sides are made of translucent acrylic, providing dust resistance and reduced weight. This design allows direct observation of the cabinet's interior, and users can add ambient lights for decoration.

2. Compare equivalent configurations and total cost

Match CPU type and allocation, memory, storage type and capacity, transfer allowance, public-IP charges, backups, and billing rules. A low advertised starting price does not show what a production workload will cost if the plans include different resources or allowances.

As one provider-specific example, DigitalOcean’s pricing page, marked last verified 25 August 2026, lists a Basic Droplet with 1 vCPU, 512 MiB of memory, 10 GiB SSD storage, and 500 GiB of transfer for $4 per month. This is an entry-plan example, not a comparison price for the other providers. Check the current listing and billing documentation before relying on it: DigitalOcean Droplet pricing and DigitalOcean billing documentation.

3. Verify region and data-location needs

Check that the provider offers the location your service needs and that placement meets latency, data-residency, and operational requirements. No comparable region matrix is established here for the ten providers, so confirm availability with each provider for the exact product.

4. Account for operational work and support

Compare managed services and the administration your team will still need to perform. Then check the current support plan and contractual service-level agreement for the specific product you would use. DigitalOcean advertises a 99.99% Droplet SLA on its product page; that is the provider’s stated service-level figure, not an independent measurement of uptime or a basis for ranking it against competitors: DigitalOcean Droplets.

What DigitalOcean’s billing example does—and does not—tell you

DigitalOcean’s billing documentation says Droplets are billed per second with a 60-second minimum. It distinguishes bundled plans, which have a monthly cap, from v5 Droplets, which are billed for actual usage without a monthly cap. These terms apply to DigitalOcean’s products; do not assume another provider bills the same way. Confirm the current rules for the product and plan you are considering.

Neither the example price nor the advertised SLA establishes a cross-provider winner. Plans, product catalogs, regions, prices, and contractual terms can change, so verify them directly before committing.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
