Want to spend less time clicking through routine web tasks? A few built-in browser shortcuts and settings can help you find text, recover a closed tab, organize a busy window and make pages easier to read. The steps below use Chrome examples where documented; Firefox has its own tab-group and sync controls, and shortcuts and menus can vary by browser and operating system.
1. Learn a few keyboard shortcuts
Shortcuts replace repeated menu navigation. In Chrome on Windows, ChromeOS and Linux, start with these:

- Ctrl+F: find text on the current page.
- Ctrl+L: focus the address bar.
- Ctrl+Shift+T: reopen a recently closed tab.
- Ctrl+Shift+D: save all open tabs in a new bookmarks folder.
On Mac, use the corresponding Command combinations. Shortcut support can differ across browsers, so check the shortcut list for the browser and operating system you use. Chrome keyboard shortcuts
2. Find a word or phrase on a long page
Use the page’s Find command rather than scanning line by line. In Chrome, press Ctrl+F on Windows, ChromeOS or Linux, or Command+F on Mac, then type a word or phrase. The browser highlights matches and lets you move through them. Chrome tips

5. Group tabs by task
Put related pages in a named, colored group so a crowded tab bar is easier to scan. Chrome lets you create groups, change their names or colors, collapse them and reorder them. Firefox also has built-in tab groups with labels and colors that can be collapsed, though its controls are not identical to Chrome’s.

6. Save all open tabs for later
If you have gathered pages for a project or research session, save them together instead of leaving them open indefinitely. In Chrome, use Bookmark All Tabs from the bookmarks menu, or press Ctrl+Shift+D on Windows, ChromeOS or Linux to save all open tabs in a new folder. The shortcut on Mac uses Command instead of Ctrl. Give the folder a descriptive name so you can find the session later. Chrome tips Chrome keyboard shortcuts

For pages you genuinely use every time—such as a work dashboard—you can tell Chrome to open them at startup. Open Chrome’s Settings, go to On startup, and choose the option to open a specific set of pages; add the pages you want. Keep the list short so unrelated tabs do not accumulate. Chrome tips
