Zscaler CEO Says AI Agents Are Driving Demand for Zero-Trust Security

Zscaler CEO Jay Chaudhry says businesses’ AI ambitions and concerns about AI-agent risks are supporting demand for zero-trust security, though the claim does not establish a market-wide spending trend.

Zscaler CEO Jay Chaudhry says businesses’ interest in AI is bringing a new security concern: AI agents can create cybersecurity risks that traditional security approaches were not designed to address. In a Bloomberg Television interview, he said those concerns are supporting demand for zero-trust security. That is Zscaler’s view of the opportunity, not independent evidence that AI has increased security spending across the market.

What Zscaler’s CEO said about AI and security demand

In an interview with Romaine Bostick and Sally Bakewell on Bloomberg’s The Close, Chaudhry described a tension for businesses: they want AI’s potential to improve revenue and efficiency, but are also concerned about the cybersecurity risks AI agents may introduce. He said that concern is helping drive demand for zero-trust security, which is designed around verifying access rather than relying on a trusted internal network.

The interview was reported by MT Newswires and syndicated by MarketScreener on October 6, 2026. The report also said Zscaler reaffirmed its first-quarter and full-year guidance at its investor day. It did not establish that AI models have caused a broader, market-wide rise in security spending.

Why AI agents create a security question

AI agents can take actions or interact with business systems, making it important for organizations to understand what AI tools are being used and what data or applications they can reach. Security measures relevant to enterprise AI include visibility into AI use, controls over prompts and responses, and limits on agent permissions. Those are useful areas to assess, but the available company announcements do not provide comparative evidence showing how Zscaler’s capabilities perform against other vendors.

What Zscaler says its AI security offering does

In a January 27, 2026 announcement, Zscaler described new enterprise AI security capabilities intended to give organizations visibility, controls, and governance over enterprise AI use. Chaudhry said in that announcement: “AI is changing how businesses operate, but traditional security approaches were not designed to secure AI.” This is the company’s explanation of its product rationale, not an independent evaluation of its effectiveness.

What Zscaler’s AI security report found

Zscaler’s ThreatLabz 2026 AI Security Report said most enterprise AI systems it analyzed could be compromised in 16 minutes, and that critical flaws were found in 100% of the systems analyzed. These are findings reported by Zscaler; they should not be read as independently verified estimates of the risk across all enterprise AI systems.

What later company results add

On Zscaler’s fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter call, management described AI as a tailwind for its Zero Trust and Security for AI offerings and said Security for AI bookings rose more than 50% sequentially in Q4. That is a company-reported result for the quarter, not proof that AI has caused security demand to rise across the industry.
