To use Zoom Whiteboard in a Windows meeting, click Whiteboards in the meeting controls, then choose New Whiteboard. To continue work on a saved canvas, choose Existing Whiteboards. Zoom Whiteboard is a persistent canvas; it is different from the classic whiteboard used for screen sharing and annotations.
Create a whiteboard during a Windows meeting

Start or join a meeting in the Zoom desktop app for Windows.

In the meeting controls, click Whiteboards.

Click New Whiteboard. The board opens in the meeting window.

Boards created during a meeting are owned by the host. The host controls whether and when attendees can create new whiteboards. If Whiteboards is missing, ask your Zoom account administrator to check whether the feature is enabled. See Zoom’s instructions for using Zoom Whiteboard in a meeting.

Open a saved board and choose attendee access

Click Whiteboards in the meeting controls, then choose Existing Whiteboards.

Select the board you want to use and choose an opening mode:

Collaborating gives users edit access.

Click Open Board, then use the canvas editing tools.

Zoom also documents an option to let verified meeting participants retain access after the whiteboard is closed. Check the access choices before opening a board, especially when attendees should only view rather than edit it. The available options are described in Zoom’s meeting whiteboard guide.
Share a board with people or a link
From New Whiteboard or Existing Whiteboards during a meeting, click Share. In the dialog, enter contact names, a Zoom Chat channel, or email addresses. Use the permissions menu beside the entry field to set access, optionally add a message, then click Share Whiteboard.

Sharing by link is also available; configure link access in the Share dialog rather than assuming everyone with a link can edit. Zoom’s whiteboard sharing instructions describe recipient and link options.

Open the Zoom desktop app and click Whiteboards to reach the dashboard. If the button is not in the main navigation, look under More. The dashboard shows boards you created and boards shared with you; it can also open a board in a browser.

From the dashboard, you can open, share, rename, duplicate, star, move a board to a project, or move it to trash. Boards created from the dashboard save automatically and are available during or outside meetings. See Zoom’s whiteboard management guide.
Zoom Whiteboard versus classic whiteboard
These are different features, even though both provide a canvas for meeting participants.

Classic whiteboard: A whiteboard shared as screen content that participants may annotate on if permitted. Start it from Share Screen and select Whiteboard.
Zoom says the new Zoom Whiteboard launches by default even when classic whiteboard is selected in the share window. You can change settings to continue using the classic option. Consult Zoom’s classic whiteboard instructions if you specifically need the screen-sharing workflow.
