Is the Director’s Cut a free update?
Yes, on PC. ZA/UM says the Director’s Cut became available on October 1, 2026, as a free update for all owners of ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies. The studio lists Steam, GOG, Epic, and NVIDIA GeForce Now among the PC availability options. The free-update statement concerns PC owners; it does not establish a console release or save transfer between platforms. ZA/UM’s announcement and its pinned FAQ provide the release and availability details.

For PlayStation 5, ZA/UM announced a November 3, 2026 launch. As of October 4, 2026, that date is still in the future, so the PS5 version should be considered announced, not already available.
Will your old save work in the Director’s Cut?
ZA/UM has not specified in the reviewed official announcement or FAQ whether an original-release save will load in the Director’s Cut. That is unresolved: the absence of a compatibility statement does not mean old saves fail, but it is not confirmation that they work.

Before updating, keep a separate backup if the save matters to you. Do not treat cloud-save listings as proof of compatibility: Steam advertises Steam Cloud, and GOG advertises cloud saves, but neither listing establishes that saves migrate between versions, storefronts, or PC and PlayStation 5. If you need a definitive answer for a particular save, contact ZA/UM support.

Does the game support controllers, and can you remap one?
Controller support is listed, and the Director’s Cut adds controller remapping. GOG lists controller support, while ZA/UM specifically names remapping among the update’s improvements. The reviewed sources do not identify supported controller models, so compatibility with a particular device is not guaranteed by those general listings. GOG’s listing and ZA/UM’s announcement describe the confirmed features.

The storefront listings establish cloud features on their own services, not a shared migration system. Steam’s store page advertises Steam Cloud. GOG lists cloud saves and also offers an offline installer that does not require GOG Galaxy. Neither listing confirms that a save syncs between Steam and GOG, transfers to Epic or GeForce Now, or moves between PC and PS5.
