YouTube’s published encoder instructions do not identify what triggers “too many concurrent broadcasts” or provide a specific fix for it. Check that your stream and encoder are configured through YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room as intended. If the message remains, YouTube Support is the appropriate place for account- and stream-specific diagnosis; changing equipment or assuming a hidden stream is responsible is not a verified remedy.
What the message does—and does not—tell you
The exact trigger for “too many concurrent broadcasts” is not established in the YouTube Help page reviewed for this article. That page explains how to create and start an encoder stream, but it does not document this error, a concurrency limit associated with it, or a guaranteed recovery procedure. Do not assume that a particular account limit, stale broadcast, encoder, or capture device caused it.

YouTube describes three broad ways to go live: webcam, mobile device, or an encoder. An encoder may be software or standalone hardware. The setup checks below follow YouTube’s documented encoder workflow; they are configuration checks, not confirmed fixes for this error. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Check the documented encoder setup
- Confirm live streaming is enabled. If this is the first time you have enabled live streaming, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. This is an enablement delay, not an explanation for the concurrent-broadcast message or a promised time for that error to clear.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a stream or select the intended stream there. Make sure you are working with the stream you mean to send from your encoder.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from that stream. Enter them in your encoder’s streaming settings. If you have changed or selected a different stream, use the URL and key shown for the selected stream rather than relying on old setup details.
- Start the encoder. For a scheduled stream, wait for its preview to appear in Live Control Room; then select Go live. YouTube’s guide describes this order for scheduled streams.
YouTube’s guide also describes installing an encoder and connecting any chosen hardware to it. It does not say that changing encoders or hardware resolves this particular message. Likewise, the guide’s note that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived concerns archiving, not the error’s cause.

If the message still appears
When the setup does not match the documented flow
Correct the stream selection or URL/key mismatch, then start the encoder and follow the scheduled-stream preview step where applicable. These corrections bring the setup into line with YouTube’s instructions; the available documentation does not establish that they will clear this specific error.
When the setup already matches
If you have selected the intended stream, entered its current URL and key, started the encoder, and still see the message, contact YouTube Help or use the help/community support route offered there. Include the exact error text, whether the stream is scheduled or being started immediately, and the steps you have already checked so support can assess your account and stream. The published encoder guide does not give an error-specific procedure, so a cause or successful workaround cannot be promised from it.
