The warning alone does not prove Jio is at fault: the cause could be unstable upload capacity, an encoder or CPU problem, or a stream setting YouTube has flagged.

First identify where “poor connection” appears
Record the full message and the time it appeared. A warning in your Live Control Room, an error in FFmpeg’s stderr output, and a viewer’s report about playback are different clues; do not assume they point to the same fault.

- Live Control Room: Open the stream’s health or status details and note the exact message or error code before changing anything.
- FFmpeg: Save the complete stderr output around the time of the interruption. A message from FFmpeg may describe a local encoding or network-output problem, not YouTube’s assessment of the stream.
- Viewer playback: Ask whether the issue affects viewers on different internet connections. YouTube distinguishes a problem limited to viewers sharing one connection from one affecting viewers on separate connections. YouTube troubleshooting guidance
The phrase “poor connection” here is your reported wording, not necessarily YouTube’s exact, canonical error text.

Read YouTube’s stream-health details
Use the specific health message to decide what to investigate. YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation describes, among other issues, videoIngestionStarved (too little video arriving for smooth streaming), bitrateHigh, unsupported codecs and keyframe-interval problems. Ingestion starvation means YouTube is not receiving enough video consistently; it does not, by itself, identify the mobile carrier as the cause. YouTube stream-health status documentation
Write down the message, when it began, and whether it clears or recurs. Avoid changing bitrate, resolution and FFmpeg options all at once: if the stream improves, you otherwise will not know which change mattered.
Check what FFmpeg is producing before blaming the hotspot
Look at the local preview or a local recording, if you have one, and compare it with the stream-health report. Check FFmpeg stderr and the computer’s CPU load during the problem.

- If the local output is choppy, corrupted or missing frames, investigate the source, FFmpeg configuration and CPU load first.
- If local output looks healthy but YouTube reports trouble receiving it, test the outbound connection under the actual streaming load.
YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance uses this distinction: healthy encoder output alongside streaming trouble points toward the outbound internet connection, while poor local output can indicate a source, encoding or CPU issue. YouTube troubleshooting guidance
Measure the upload path while the stream is running
A speed test taken while the connection is idle cannot show whether a Jio hotspot can sustain the configured stream rate under load. Measure outbound performance during transmission, then compare it with the combined video and audio rates you have configured. Look for consistency and headroom, not just a brief peak.
- Start the FFmpeg loop at its current settings and note when YouTube’s warning appears.
- Measure upload performance while the stream is active, using a test method you can run without stopping the stream.
- If available, run the same stream at a comparable time over another internet connection and compare the Live Control Room health and local output.
- If YouTube’s guidance or the test indicates connection trouble, contact the internet provider with the time and observed results. YouTube recommends checking connection strength and contacting the ISP if the test shows a problem. YouTube troubleshooting guidance
Jio’s cited public FAQ concerns buffering in JioTV playback and offers generic network checks; it does not test YouTube Live uploads through a mobile hotspot or establish that Jio caused this issue. JioTV buffering FAQ

Match FFmpeg’s output to YouTube’s encoder guidance
Compare your actual codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio settings and keyframe interval with YouTube’s current encoder guidance and the health warning. YouTube lists CBR; H.264, H.265/HEVC or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; and recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. For H.264, YouTube’s current examples include 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps, 12 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps, 6 Mbps for 720p at 60 fps, and 4 Mbps for 240p–720p at 30 fps. These are YouTube encoder recommendations, not guaranteed minimum upload speeds and not measurements of Jio performance. Check YouTube’s table for the relevant mode, especially if you use AV1 or H.265, whose recommended ranges also vary by resolution and frame rate. YouTube encoder setup guidance
Use the health report to guide the adjustment:
- If your configured rate exceeds sustainable upload capacity, or YouTube reports a high bitrate, lower the bitrate. If necessary, also reduce resolution or frame rate.
- If YouTube identifies an unsupported codec, use a supported video and audio configuration.
- If the warning concerns keyframes or GOP length, set the keyframe interval to two seconds and keep it within YouTube’s four-second maximum.
- After each change, observe the health details again and note whether the warning changes.
Do not treat a recommended encoder bitrate as proof that a hotspot will sustain that rate continuously. Connection capacity can vary during a live session.

Inspect FFmpeg reconnect behavior only with the actual command
FFmpeg’s protocol options depend on the protocol used for output. Its protocol reference documents those options, but it does not provide a universal reconnect flag that guarantees a YouTube Live session will recover from mobile-network interruptions. FFmpeg protocol documentation
Before changing reconnect flags, identify your FFmpeg version, output protocol and exact command. Remove the stream key before sharing the command, and include relevant stderr lines from the time of failure. Without those details, a specific flag recommendation would be guesswork.

Use a controlled comparison to isolate the cause
Compare three things rather than treating “Jio hotspot” as a diagnosis:

- Local output and CPU versus YouTube’s received-stream health: This helps separate a source, encoding or processing problem from an ingest or connection problem.
- Jio hotspot versus another available connection: Test the same setup at a comparable time where possible; one comparison cannot establish general carrier performance.
- Measured upload headroom versus configured bitrate: Check whether the connection can sustain the stream’s combined rates while it is active.
Only adjust codec, bitrate or keyframe settings in response to the relevant health report or a clear mismatch with YouTube’s guidance.

If the checks do not isolate it
Keep the evidence together before asking for help or making hardware changes:
- the exact warning and where it appeared, with its timestamp;
- the Live Control Room health message or code;
- the FFmpeg version, output protocol, command with the stream key removed, and relevant stderr;
- whether local output was clean and the computer’s CPU load;
- upload results measured during the stream, plus the configured video and audio rates;
- the hotspot device and signal observations, and results from any second-connection comparison.
There is no evidence here that a new hotspot, booster, antenna, cable or other accessory is necessary. The setup’s hardware, signal and upload behavior would need to be known before recommending a purchase.
