A YouTube warning expiring does not automatically restore live-streaming access. YouTube’s eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Check the affected channel’s notice and current status in YouTube Studio, then follow the remedy attached to that specific restriction.
Why access may still be disabled
A warning, its expiry, and a live-streaming restriction are separate account states. An eligible Community Guidelines warning may expire after policy training, but that does not by itself prove that the channel currently meets YouTube’s live-streaming requirements. YouTube lists channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days as requirements. Read YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and check the channel’s current status.

The cause may not be the warning you remember. YouTube identifies Community Guidelines enforcement, copyright issues, age-related limits, and other channel conditions as possible reasons live streaming is unavailable. The affected account’s notice is the most relevant guide; do not assume that one general warning-expiry date clears every restriction.

First identify the notice and its clock
- Sign in to the affected channel. Read the email from YouTube, any Studio banner, and the Channel violations notice. YouTube says notices explain the removed content, policy involved, effect on the channel, and possible next steps.
- Identify the type of enforcement. Determine whether the notice concerns a Community Guidelines warning, a Community Guidelines strike, a copyright issue, an age requirement, or another live-streaming restriction. Copyright strikes are handled separately from Community Guidelines strikes.
- Check current live access and verification. In YouTube Studio, review the channel’s notices and live-streaming status, and confirm that the channel is verified. Compare the restriction shown there with the live-streaming requirements in YouTube Help.
- Look for policy training. If the warning offers training, complete it and note the completion date. YouTube says an eligible warning expires 90 days after training is completed—not 90 days after the warning was issued. Training is not offered for every warning.
- Use the stated end date or appeal route. If the notice gives an active restriction period, wait for that period to end and check access again. If you believe the enforcement was mistaken, use the appeal option while it is available.
Warning, strike, and live-streaming block are not interchangeable
| Account action | What YouTube says | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible Community Guidelines warning | After policy training, it expires 90 days from training completion. A same-policy violation during that window may prevent expiry and lead to a strike. | Whether the warning offered training, when it was completed, and whether a later notice changed the channel’s status. |
| First Community Guidelines strike | YouTube’s general strike guidance describes a one-week posting restriction, while the strike remains on the channel for 90 days. | The specific restriction and dates in the channel notice; a general posting penalty is not the same as a live-streaming restriction. |
| Strike affecting a restricted live stream | YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a strike on a restricted live stream can prevent live streaming for 14 days. | The live-streaming notice and its end date. Do not substitute the general posting penalty for this live-stream-specific consequence. |
These are distinct policy statements in YouTube’s guidance, not a guarantee that every channel follows the same timeline. For the warning and strike sequence, see Community Guidelines strike basics; for livestream-specific eligibility and restrictions, see Get started with live streaming.

Appeal an enforcement you believe is wrong
YouTube allows appeals of warnings and strikes for six months after issuance. In YouTube Studio, open Dashboard, find the Channel violations card, and select Appeal. YouTube says each strike can be appealed once. Deleting the affected video does not remove the strike, so do not delete it expecting that to restore live access. Review YouTube’s appeal instructions and follow the option available on the affected channel.
Do not bypass an active restriction with another channel
YouTube prohibits a creator whose account is restricted from live streaming on another channel while the restriction is active. Creating, using, or acquiring another channel to get around the block can be treated as circumvention and may lead to termination. Wait for the stated restriction to end or pursue the appeal route instead. See YouTube’s guidance on avoiding live-streaming restrictions.
