Then verify the channel, look for live-stream restrictions or other notices, and allow time for first-time activation. YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish a special India-only ban or eligibility threshold for streaming from Studio.
First, identify how you are trying to go live
YouTube’s requirements differ for computer streaming and mobile streaming. The commonly cited minimum of 50 subscribers applies to mobile live streaming; the cited feature-access table does not state that threshold for computer live streaming.

These are YouTube Help requirements as presented on the cited pages, accessed in 2026; check YouTube’s current pages and your account notices because platform requirements can change. The mobile subscriber threshold should not be applied to a computer stream without account-specific guidance from YouTube.

- Open YouTube Studio.
- Select Settings, then Channel, then Feature eligibility.
- Find the live-streaming feature relevant to your setup and check whether it is enabled. YouTube notes that some features can have separate eligibility requirements.
- If computer live streaming is not enabled, follow the verification or activation prompt shown for your channel. YouTube lists computer live streaming under intermediate access associated with phone-number verification.
For a channel in India, YouTube’s India-localized feature-access page is a useful reference. The cited official materials do not identify a separate India-only block, so do not assume your location is the cause unless YouTube shows an account-specific notice.

Verify the channel and check for restrictions
YouTube says creators generally need a verified channel and no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check Studio for notices related to live-streaming access before changing devices or buying equipment.
- Live-stream restriction: YouTube may limit live access after a policy issue. A different channel or streaming method is not a legitimate workaround for an active restriction.
- Community Guidelines or copyright issue: Review any notice or restriction shown in the account; copyright matches can affect live-streaming features.
- Made-for-kids setting: YouTube identifies made-for-kids conditions as a possible source of live-stream feature limitations.
- Daily limit: YouTube may limit streaming after a daily limit is reached. Follow the on-screen notice rather than repeatedly attempting to start a stream.
YouTube’s Help guidance also says a verified channel must have had no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. If a notice names a specific restriction, use its stated duration and instructions.

If you just enabled live streaming, wait for activation
After enabling live streaming for the first time, YouTube says the first mobile live stream may take up to 24 hours to become available. If you are using mobile, wait through that activation window before treating a missing start control as a device problem. The cited guidance gives this up-to-24-hour window for the first mobile stream.

Computer streaming
For a webcam stream, use the computer streaming option in YouTube Studio and allow browser access to the webcam and microphone. An encoder is an alternative when you need to stream gameplay, overlays, or inputs such as cameras, microphones, and preamps. These are ways to send a stream after feature access is available; neither enables a channel feature that YouTube has not granted.

Mobile streaming
For the YouTube mobile app, confirm that the channel meets the mobile subscriber and verification requirements, has no recent live restriction, and that the device runs a supported operating system. YouTube’s cited page lists Android 8.0+ or iOS 8+.

A webcam and an encoder are optional streaming methods, not eligibility fixes. YouTube says creators do not need expensive equipment to get started. If Studio does not offer live streaming, address Feature eligibility, verification, activation time, and account notices before considering equipment.

If the control is still missing
- Reopen Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and confirm the relevant feature status.
- Check Studio and YouTube notifications for restriction, policy, copyright, made-for-kids, or daily-limit notices.
- Confirm whether the attempted route is computer or mobile, and apply only that route’s requirements.
- If the checks pass but access still appears unavailable, use the Help Community route linked from YouTube’s feature-access page. The cited materials do not establish a guaranteed direct-support channel for every account.
