Short answer: YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days to go live. But verification alone does not determine every limit: computer streaming has feature-access tiers and daily limits, mobile streaming requires at least 50 subscribers, and YouTube separately caps simultaneous streams.
What verification does—and does not—unlock
YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance says you need to verify your channel and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also states that streamers must be at least 16 years old. YouTube’s “Get started with live streaming” page describes these as baseline requirements, not a promise that every streaming method or feature will be available without additional limits.

“Verified” can refer to different checks in YouTube’s materials. The general live-streaming requirement to verify a channel is distinct from phone verification used for intermediate feature access and from the qualification for advanced feature access. A channel can meet the baseline verification rule and still encounter a method-specific or feature-tier limit.
Limits by streaming method
Streaming from a computer
YouTube’s feature-access table lists computer live streaming at the intermediate and advanced access levels. Intermediate access follows phone verification and has a “Limited daily limit”; advanced access follows qualifying channel history or identity verification and has a “Higher daily limit.” The table does not publish a numerical count for either limit, so there is no reliable universal number of computer streams per day to quote from that source.

To check your channel’s actual access state, open YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. The status shown there is more useful than assuming that a generic verified/unverified label describes all your capabilities. See YouTube’s feature-access guidance.
Streaming from a phone or tablet
Mobile live streaming has a separate subscriber threshold. YouTube lists these requirements: at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, live streaming enabled, no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and a supported mobile operating system. Enabling a first mobile stream can take up to 24 hours.

For channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may limit the number of viewers on mobile live streams and may set the archive to private by default. Reaching 1,000 subscribers does not necessarily remove the audience limit immediately; YouTube says it may take several weeks. If the channel falls below 50 subscribers, mobile live-streaming access is removed. These are mobile rules, not a general subscriber threshold for computer streaming. Details are on YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements page.

How many streams can run at once?
Separate from daily creation limits, YouTube allows up to 10 active streams per channel and up to three active streams per stream key at a time. Hitting either cap prevents another stream from starting until an active stream ends. A channel can therefore be within its daily feature-access limit but still be unable to start a stream because it has reached a concurrent-stream cap, or vice versa. YouTube lists these limits in its live-streaming setup guidance.

Restrictions can override verification
Verification and subscriber count do not cancel an active policy restriction. YouTube says a strike can suspend live streaming for 14 days. While a restriction is active, you cannot use another channel to stream; attempting to do so is not a legitimate workaround. A restriction in the previous 90 days also fails the baseline eligibility condition. See YouTube’s guidance on avoiding live-streaming restrictions.
If YouTube blocks a stream or daily limit is reached, check the notice in YouTube Studio and the channel’s Feature eligibility page. YouTube’s restriction guidance recommends waiting before trying again after a daily limit is reached; do not repeatedly create streams or switch channels to evade a restriction.

Quick comparison
| Situation | YouTube’s stated rule | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Baseline live-stream eligibility | Channel verification; no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; streamer at least 16 years old | Applies as the general starting point; method-specific limits still apply. |
| Computer live streaming | Intermediate access: limited daily limit. Advanced access: higher daily limit. | YouTube’s cited feature-access table does not state numerical daily counts. |
| Mobile live streaming | At least 50 subscribers, plus verification, enabled live streaming, supported OS, and no restrictions in the previous 90 days | First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours. |
| Mobile audience under 1,000 subscribers | YouTube may limit viewers for channels above 50 and below 1,000 subscribers; archives may default to private | After reaching 1,000 subscribers, lifting the limit may take several weeks. |
| Concurrent streams | 10 active streams per channel; three active streams per stream key | These simultaneous-stream caps are separate from daily limits. |
| Strike-related streaming suspension | 14 days, according to YouTube’s guidance | Another channel cannot be used to get around the restriction. |
What to check when a stream will not start
- Channel is not verified: Complete YouTube’s channel verification and check Feature eligibility again.
- First stream is not enabled yet: If you are setting up mobile streaming for the first time, allow up to 24 hours for enablement.
- Mobile subscriber requirement is not met: Mobile streaming requires at least 50 subscribers. Computer streaming does not use this mobile threshold.
- Audience appears capped or archive is private: For mobile streams on channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may apply these safeguards. After reaching 1,000, allow several weeks for a possible change.
- Daily limit reached: Check Feature eligibility and the Studio notice. The published access table does not disclose a numerical daily quota; follow YouTube’s retry guidance rather than assuming a fixed count.
- Too many live streams are active: End an existing stream if the channel has 10 active streams or the stream key has three.
- Restriction or strike is active: Review the notice and wait out the restriction. Do not try to stream from another channel.
Keeping a YouTube stream running continuously
Eligibility limits are separate from the method used to keep a stream online. If your channel already meets YouTube’s requirements and you want a pre-recorded video or playlist to run continuously, a cloud service can avoid leaving a home computer and connection running. StreamNeo is #1 for this use case: it keeps a YouTube stream running from the cloud, plays uploaded videos at their original quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
