The label alone does not prove that your channel has a live-streaming ban: it may refer to a feature tier or daily-use limit, a mobile requirement, a first-time activation delay, or an account restriction. Your signed-in channel’s eligibility page and any YouTube notice are the best way to tell which applies.
Check the channel’s feature status first
- On a computer, open YouTube Studio and go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Find the relevant feature row and check whether it is enabled, limited, or awaiting another step. YouTube notes that some features have separate eligibility requirements or are managed outside this tab, so a status here may not explain every feature. YouTube’s feature-access overview describes the tiers and requirements.
- Check YouTube Studio and the email associated with the channel for a warning, restriction, copyright notice, or instructions to appeal. The notice can identify an account-specific reason that the general eligibility page cannot show.
YouTube states that creators need a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions within the preceding 90 days to live stream. That is the general baseline; do not assume that every “limited” label means you need advanced access. Identify which kind of “limited” applies
Feature tier or daily-use limit
YouTube separates creator features into standard, intermediate, and advanced access. Phone verification grants intermediate features; advanced access requires phone verification plus sufficient channel history or identity verification by ID or video, where available. Positive channel history and policy compliance also matter for maintaining advanced access. The feature-access page lists computer live streaming as available at phone verification with a limited daily limit, and higher daily limits with advanced access. If an advanced-access creator reaches a daily feature limit, YouTube says to wait 24 hours before using that feature again.
Check the specific feature row and your account’s status rather than treating a “limited” label as a strike. Advanced access is not universally required simply because a feature is described as limited.

Mobile-only requirements or first-time activation
Streaming from the YouTube mobile app has additional requirements: at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, live streaming enabled, and no live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days. After enabling live streaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours. If you are trying to go live immediately after turning it on, wait for activation and check again. Account-level restriction
YouTube says live access may be temporarily or permanently disabled for age or policy matters, copyright restrictions, or live-stream policy violations. A strike can prevent live streaming for 14 days. Follow the reason and instructions in the account notice, and use the appeal route if YouTube offers one and you believe the decision is wrong. Current YouTube guidance says creators must be at least 16 to live stream.

Choose the next step for your situation

Why switching equipment or channels will not fix eligibility
YouTube supports several streaming methods, including mobile, webcam, encoder, and console. A webcam, microphone, capture card, or encoder can help produce a stream once access is available, but none changes your channel’s Feature eligibility state or clears an account-level restriction.

Do not try to bypass a YouTube restriction by streaming from another channel. YouTube identifies that as circumvention and says it may lead to account termination. Resolve the issue through the channel notice and any appeal process YouTube provides.
