Yes. More than one person can manage a YouTube channel and go live, as long as the channel meets YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and each person has a role that permits live-stream management. Owners, Managers, Editors and Editors (Limited) can manage live streams; Viewers, Viewers (Limited) and Subtitle Editors cannot. You do not need to share the channel owner’s Google Account password to grant access.
What the channel and each person need
YouTube’s published guidance, checked on October 3, 2026, sets channel and creator requirements that permissions do not replace:

- The channel must be verified.
- It must not have had a live-stream restriction during the previous 90 days.
- The creator must be at least 16 years old.
- For the YouTube mobile app, the channel also needs at least 50 subscribers and live streaming turned on. YouTube says initial activation can take up to 24 hours.
YouTube lists mobile, webcam, encoder and console as ways to stream, but these options do not bypass the core eligibility requirements. The mobile subscriber threshold is specific to mobile guidance; check the channel’s own status in Studio for applicable eligibility and available workflows.

Which channel roles can manage a live stream?
YouTube channel permissions let multiple people access a channel without sharing its owner’s Google Account sign-in. The role determines what a delegate can do. The table summarizes the live-stream capabilities and limits in YouTube’s published role descriptions.

These are role capabilities, not a guarantee that every role can start a stream through every device or workflow. YouTube specifically says that in the documented under-16/adult-present situation, a delegate can start only from Live Control Room.
How to give someone access safely
- In YouTube Studio, open the channel’s permissions settings and invite the person using their Google Account address. Use channel permissions rather than sharing the owner’s password.
- Choose a role with the access they need. For someone who must operate live streams but should not manage access or delete stream resources, Editor is a narrower choice than Manager or Owner.
- Have the invitee accept the invitation, then confirm their role appears in the channel’s permissions settings.
- Before the broadcast, check the channel’s Feature eligibility and open Live Control Room to confirm the channel can stream and the delegate can access the intended workflow.
Role names and controls are described in YouTube Help; the exact screens can change. Do not promote someone to Owner just to troubleshoot a stream if a lower role is sufficient.

Age rules for a young creator and an adult delegate
YouTube’s current guidance says a creator must be at least 16 to live stream. If someone under 16 participates in a stream from an adult-owned account, the adult must be visibly present. An adult willing to stream with the under-16 creator may be given Editor, Manager or Owner access. In this specific situation, the delegate can start the broadcast only through Live Control Room, and the adult must be visibly present and engage comparably in the stream.
Why a channel manager may not be able to go live
- The role is too limited: Viewer and Subtitle Editor cannot manage live streams. Check the assigned role and whether the invitation was accepted.
- The channel is not eligible: Verify the channel and check for a live-stream restriction in the prior 90 days.
- The person is using mobile: Check the mobile subscriber requirement, confirm live streaming is enabled and allow up to 24 hours after first activation.
- A restriction applies to the person or channel: YouTube prohibits an account restricted from live streaming from using another channel to stream while that restriction is active. Trying to evade it may lead to account termination.
- The workflow is not supported for the situation: For an adult delegate streaming with an under-16 creator, use Live Control Room.
- The channel’s individual state needs checking: Public help pages cannot diagnose a specific account’s permissions or enforcement status. Review Feature eligibility and Live Control Room in YouTube Studio.
