To send viewers from one YouTube live stream to a Premiere or another eligible live stream, set a destination in YouTube Studio under Content > Live > Edit > Customization > Redirect. The redirect happens after the source stream ends; it does not keep that stream running or guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 broadcasting. YouTube requires the channel sending the redirect to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. A different channel’s live stream can be selected only if that channel allows incoming redirects.
What Live Redirect does—and when it helps a bhajan channel
YouTube Live Redirect sends viewers from a source live event to a selected Premiere or eligible live stream after the source ends. For a devotional-music channel, that can help hand viewers from one scheduled broadcast to the next without asking them to search for the next event. It is a transition feature, not a way to keep a single stream alive, and the destination must be eligible.

Before you configure the redirect
Check the sending channel
- Confirm the channel has more than 1,000 subscribers.
- Confirm it has no Community Guidelines strikes.
YouTube’s broader live-stream setup guidance separately says a channel must be verified and have no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days to go live. Those are general live-stream requirements, distinct from the Live Redirect eligibility rule.

Prepare the destination first
If redirecting to a Premiere, schedule or set up the Premiere before the source live stream. If redirecting to another channel’s live stream, ask its owner to allow incoming redirects in that channel’s settings. Confirm the destination is the correct event; the redirect is attached to the source stream and takes effect only when that source ends.
Plan the handoff for viewers
YouTube says viewers autoplay to the selected destination after the source ends, but the watch page can take a few seconds to reload. Tell bhajan listeners to wait briefly rather than closing the page or assuming the stream has failed.
Set up Live Redirect in YouTube Studio
- Open the live content list: In YouTube Studio, select Content, then open the Live tab.
- Edit the source event: Find the stream you plan to end, hover over it, and select Edit.
- Choose a destination: Open Customization. In the Redirect section, select Add, then choose the Premiere or eligible live stream.
- Check the selection: Make sure the destination is the intended event and, for another channel’s live stream, that incoming redirects are allowed.
- End the source normally: When ready to hand viewers over, end the source stream using its usual controls. The redirect occurs after it ends; allow a few seconds for the destination watch page to load.

Connect an encoder to the correct YouTube stream
If your bhajan broadcast is sent from an encoder, use the stream URL and stream key shown for the intended event in YouTube’s Live Control Room. YouTube describes the URL as the destination for the video feed and the stream key as the credential that lets YouTube accept it. Confirm the selected event before starting the feed; an incorrect or outdated key or URL can prevent the encoder from connecting.
- Open the intended event in YouTube’s Live Control Room.
- Copy its stream URL and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder.
- Check that the encoder is configured for the same event you edited for the redirect.
- Start the feed and monitor stream health and YouTube’s messages before relying on the broadcast.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance recommends testing before going live, choosing quality that fits the available connection, and monitoring stream health during the event. The guidance also states a platform limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key; these limits are not uptime guarantees.
Fix common Live Redirect and encoder problems
Redirect is missing, or the destination cannot be selected
- Recheck that the sending channel has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- If the destination belongs to another channel, ask that channel to enable incoming redirects.
- Confirm the destination is a Premiere or eligible live stream and is set up before the handoff.

Encoder will not connect
Compare the encoder’s stream URL and key with the current values in the intended event’s Live Control Room. Correct stale or mismatched values, then check that the event selected in the encoder is the one you intend to broadcast.

Check that the server address begins with rtmps, not rtmp. If the URL is correct and the SSL error remains, YouTube suggests specifying port 443. Its encoder connection troubleshooting guidance covers SSL and other connection errors.
Connection timeout
Verify the RTMPS server URL and confirm that the encoder supports RTMPS. If you are unsure how to set that protocol in the encoder, consult its documentation.

Stream starts or stops unexpectedly after reusing settings
Inspect the stream’s auto-start and auto-stop settings. YouTube says these options let the encoder start or stop the stream, and Reuse settings carries those selections over from the previous stream. Check them when reusing an encoder configuration rather than assuming the new event has independent settings. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
Viewers cannot rewind far enough
DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours, according to YouTube’s live-stream archiving and DVR guidance. This is a playback caveat, not a rule that every stream must end at 12 hours.
What a 24/7 broadcast does—and does not—guarantee
YouTube’s cited help pages explain how to connect an encoder, end a stream, configure a redirect, and handle long-stream archive and DVR caveats. They do not promise uninterrupted 24/7 uptime or document automatic restart after an outage. Test your setup and monitor stream health rather than treating a redirect as an outage-recovery mechanism.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived in its encoder instructions. That statement does not establish that longer broadcasts cannot run or specify how every longer stream’s archive will behave.
