Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →If your YouTube Live loop keeps disconnecting on Airtel broadband, first identify whether the encoder actually lost its connection to YouTube or whether a viewer is having playback trouble. Then test the streaming computer over Ethernet, check upload stability and encoder bitrate, and record drop times before asking Airtel to investigate. A disconnect alone does not prove that Airtel is blocking YouTube Live.
First confirm what is disconnecting
Check the streaming software’s connection or dropped-frame status and YouTube Live Control Room’s stream-health messages at the time of the failure. If the encoder remains connected but a viewer sees buffering or “Connection to server lost,” troubleshoot that viewer’s playback separately; a playback error is not evidence that the encoder-to-YouTube stream disconnected. YouTube’s viewer-side guidance is at Troubleshoot streaming & video issues and Troubleshoot YouTube video errors.

For an encoder disconnect, OBS Project’s Stream Connection Troubleshooting guide (dated 2024-09-30) says: “If you experience dropped frames or intermittent disconnections while streaming, there is a network issue between your computer and the remote stream ingest server.” That describes the path that needs investigation; it does not identify which segment failed. OBS also says, “It is extremely unlikely for OBS Studio to cause dropped frames.” Neither statement proves that Airtel is at fault.
Diagnose the connection in order
1. Try Ethernet before changing anything else
If practical, connect the streaming computer directly to the Airtel router or ONT with an RJ45 Cat5 or Cat6 Ethernet cable, then repeat a representative test. OBS recommends wired networking because Wi-Fi can be unstable for streaming; Airtel’s Xstream Fiber guide also describes using an RJ45 cable between a computer and the router/ONT. This low-cost, reversible test helps isolate Wi-Fi, but it cannot fix an Airtel line fault, an upstream route problem or a YouTube ingest issue. Check that your computer has an Ethernet port and that the cable reaches the router; use a compatible adapter if needed.

2. Check the router, ONT and fiber connections
Check that the router and ONT have power and that their connections are seated. Observe their indicators while the service works and during a drop, but do not assume a specific light or label has the same meaning on every model. Airtel notes that indicators vary by equipment. Its Xstream Fiber guide also warns that the fiber patch cord is delicate: make sure it is properly inserted, avoid sharp bends and do not repeatedly wiggle it. Use your device’s own documentation or ask Airtel to interpret its indicators.
3. Test sustained upload and leave headroom
Run an upload-speed test, preferably when the problem usually happens. Compare the result with the encoder’s video bitrate, but do not set bitrate equal to the test’s maximum: other household devices and traffic can use capacity, and a short speed test is only a snapshot. Plan upload capacity with headroom and monitor YouTube’s stream health during a test. A high plan speed or download result does not, by itself, establish that upload is stable enough for a continuous stream.

4. Lower bitrate or adjust one encoder setting at a time
YouTube’s live encoder settings table recommends the following H.264 video bitrates:

| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps | 5 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, not a promise that an Airtel connection—or any broadband connection—will sustain them continuously. Choose a bitrate the connection can maintain, test before relying on the stream, and monitor stream health. YouTube’s table varies by codec and output mode; check it before applying figures to a different resolution, frame rate or codec.

In OBS, reduce the video bitrate and test again, changing only one setting at a time so you can tell what helped. If the destination supports another ingest server, testing it can help determine whether the route to one server is involved. Leave “Bind to IP” set to Default unless you have a specific reason to change it. OBS lists IPv4-only as a diagnostic test; if it makes no difference, restore the IPv4/IPv6 default. Dynamic bitrate may reduce frame loss by lowering quality when the connection cannot keep up, but OBS warns that it does not fix the underlying network problem.
5. Rule out competing traffic and software carefully
Temporarily pause large downloads, cloud synchronization, other streams and updates, then see whether the connection becomes more stable. OBS also identifies VPNs, security software, network-optimization utilities and old network drivers as possible contributors. If you briefly test with a VPN or security feature disabled, do so cautiously, restore protection immediately afterward, and do not leave a computer exposed just to keep a stream running. Airtel’s Wi-Fi guidance discusses range, network load and cable checks.

6. Escalate with a useful record
If the stream still drops over Ethernet at a bitrate below what your connection can sustain, collect the evidence before contacting Airtel. Record each drop’s time and duration, encoder symptoms, stream-health messages, whether other devices lose service, ONT/router indicators, and the tests you have already tried. Check Airtel’s service-status and support channels and ask it to investigate the subscriber line or a local fault. Ofcom’s broadband and Wi-Fi guidance also recommends recording how long problems last and contacting the provider if they persist.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCommon symptoms and what to try
| Symptom | What it suggests | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Encoder reports dropped frames or loses its ingest connection | A problem somewhere on the computer-to-ingest network path; the symptom alone does not locate it. | Test over Ethernet, check sustained upload against bitrate, then change one encoder setting at a time. |
| Encoder stays connected, but one viewer buffers | A viewer-side playback or network problem, not necessarily a stream-ingest disconnect. | Use YouTube’s viewer troubleshooting guidance and check whether other viewers and the Live Control Room show the same issue. |
| Several devices lose internet at the same time | The fault may involve the local router/ONT or service connection rather than only the streaming computer. | Check power and connections, note equipment indicators, and report the timestamp and scope to Airtel. |
| It works on Ethernet but not Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi coverage, interference or local wireless conditions may contribute. | Use Ethernet for the stream where feasible; investigate Wi-Fi range and load before buying replacement equipment. |
| IPv4-only or dynamic bitrate changes the symptom | The setting may help isolate or mitigate the issue, but does not establish the root cause. | Keep only a change that improves a representative test; revert IPv4-only to default if it makes no difference. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a pre-recorded YouTube loop live 24/7, StreamNeo is an alternative to leaving a computer and home connection running: upload your video, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live.
