How YouTube Live Control Room works
Live Control Room is not itself a prerecorded-video looping service. In YouTube’s encoder workflow, your encoder sends video and audio to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key; Live Control Room shows the incoming preview and provides the control to start the broadcast.
- Create a live stream in YouTube. Open YouTube Studio, create or schedule the stream, and obtain the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Configure an encoder. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in your streaming software or hardware encoder. YouTube’s official instructions allow software or hardware encoders; dedicated hardware is not a stated requirement.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Send the signal, then wait for it to appear in Live Control Room. Confirm that the picture and audio are correct before going live.
- Start the broadcast. Select Go live in Live Control Room once the preview is ready. Your source remains responsible for sending the live signal.
This is the better fit when the content is genuinely live—for example, a camera, a live production, or a software-generated output. If the goal is simply to replay recorded material while your computer is off, the encoder workflow alone does not provide a cloud scheduler or looping service; you would need an encoder/source that remains active or a separate cloud service.

Follow YouTube’s current encoder setup guidance for the exact controls available on your channel. The same guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive threshold, not a stated 12-hour maximum broadcast duration; the cited guidance does not settle archive behavior at or beyond that threshold.
How OneStream Live’s 24/7 workflow works
OneStream documents a cloud process for looping prerecorded content continuously on YouTube. Its help article says the feature is exclusive to YouTube, requires an Enterprise plan, and permits a maximum duration of 30 days for a stream.

Archive and continuity considerations
- YouTube archives: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume from that statement alone that streams at or beyond 12 hours are automatically saved or that 12 hours is a stopping limit.
