For scheduling a recorded gaming VOD or a playlist as a YouTube live event, Restream is the clearest documented fit. It lets you schedule prerecorded videos and playlists to start automatically. Its playlist feature requires an Upload & Stream add-on, and supports up to 40 entries and 24 hours of total playlist runtime. That does not establish an endlessly repeating 24/7 loop: verify repeat and recurring-schedule behavior before you pay if that is what you need.
First decide what “rerun” means
There are three different jobs that are easy to confuse: schedule one recorded broadcast for a future time, play several VODs in sequence, or repeat a playlist continuously. The documented tools do not offer the same evidence for all three.

Schedule one gaming VOD
- In Restream’s event setup, choose the prerecorded video-file option and select or upload the VOD.
- Choose YouTube as the destination, then enter the event details, including title, description, privacy, date, and time.
- Review whether you want a YouTube event post or announcement available before the stream. Restream’s setup supports creating that post in advance.
- Confirm the schedule and check the event page and selected privacy setting before sharing its link.
This is a scheduled prerecorded event, not a live gaming session with a creator controlling the broadcast in real time. YouTube describes live streaming as real-time interaction through a video feed and chat; for gameplay with overlays or live hardware inputs, YouTube also supports encoder-based streaming.

Schedule a playlist
- In Restream, open the playlist creation flow and select or upload the VOD files you want to include.
- Arrange the videos in the intended order and preview the output before scheduling.
- Select YouTube, provide the event details and schedule the playlist.
- Check the playlist’s total runtime and entry count against the limits below before it goes live.

What changes once a playlist is live
Build and check the sequence before its start. Restream says you cannot add, remove, or rearrange playlist videos after the playlist is live. During playback, content edits are restricted to graphics and chat. Back-to-back playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer, so a sequence of scheduled playlists is not the same as a single uninterrupted stream.

Restream’s documentation establishes playlist scheduling, but does not establish automatic recurring repeats or indefinite looping. If the requirement is “Can I restream a pre-recorded video 24/7?”, get confirmation from the provider about repeat behavior and the resulting stream continuity before purchasing.

Restream and StreamYard compared
For this specific use case, Restream is the stronger documented choice when you need a sequence of VODs. StreamYard documents automatically scheduled prerecorded broadcasts, but its cited help page does not document playlist sequencing or recurring looping.

StreamYard also limits how many prerecorded streams can be scheduled at once according to plan. Its automatic prerecorded format has fewer live-studio options: overlays and on-stream comment presentation are limited compared with a normal live studio stream. How YouTube duration and archives affect a rerun
YouTube does not impose a stream-duration limit, but it archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. That is a platform archive rule, not a Restream playlist limit. Separately, Restream notes possible server maintenance or restarts above 24 continuous hours and recommends restarting every 24 hours. A playlist that fits Restream’s 24-hour maximum therefore does not guarantee one YouTube archive, nor does it prove a seamless continuous 24/7 broadcast.

A scheduled stream remains subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. The fact that a VOD contains gameplay does not by itself establish that you have rights to every element in it. Check the permissions relevant to the particular game, soundtrack, licensed music, overlays, and other third-party material before replaying it.

- Confirm the game publisher’s rules for streaming and monetizing gameplay.
- Check music and other third-party audio separately; a track that was safe in a local recording may still trigger a platform claim when rebroadcast.
- Review YouTube’s current live-stream policies and the privacy and audience settings on the scheduled event.
YouTube identifies encoders as a route for live gameplay, overlays, and inputs such as microphones or cameras. That is a different workflow from scheduling an already recorded file or playlist.
Troubleshooting a scheduled VOD or playlist
- The playlist option is unavailable: Check whether the account has the required Restream Upload & Stream add-on.
- The sequence will not fit: Check both the playlist’s 24-hour maximum and 40-entry limit, then check the video-library allowance for the selected add-on tier.
- You need to change the order after broadcast starts: Restream does not allow adding, removing, or rearranging videos once the playlist is live. Correct the sequence before scheduling or starting it.
- A following playlist does not start immediately: Restream documents a two-minute buffer between back-to-back playlists because they are separate streams.
- You need one long archive: YouTube archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. Plan for the archive limitation independently of the vendor’s playlist length.
- You expect the playlist to repeat forever: Do not infer that from the scheduling feature. Confirm automatic repeat and continuity directly with the provider.
- The VOD is blocked or claimed: Review rights for the gameplay, music, and other included material, and check YouTube’s applicable policies.
