Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For a YouTube gaming rerun in SDR, start with OBS at 1920×1080 and 60 fps, H.264, CBR, 12 Mbps video, a 2-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo audio at 128 Kbps. Use this only if your PC can encode smoothly and your measured upload connection can sustain the bitrate with room for variation. If it cannot, try 1080p30 at 10 Mbps or 720p60 at 6 Mbps. These are YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrates, not guarantees for every game, computer, or connection.
Choose resolution and frame rate together
Use the highest option that remains stable on both your computer and your actual internet connection. India does not have one universal OBS bitrate: upload performance varies by location, time, service plan, Wi-Fi conditions, and other network use. YouTube advises matching stream quality to reliable upload bandwidth and testing before going live. Its guidance recommends running a speed test to check upload bitrate. YouTube’s live encoder settings were checked on October 3, 2026.

| OBS output | YouTube H.264 recommended video bitrate | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| 1920×1080 at 60 fps | 12 Mbps | More detail and smoother motion, but requires more encoder and upload headroom. |
| 1920×1080 at 30 fps | 10 Mbps | Keeps 1080p detail with lower frame rate and reduced system/network demand. |
| 1280×720 at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | Lower pixel detail than 1080p, while retaining smoother motion. |
| 1280×720 at 30 fps | 6 Mbps | Lower-demand option; check whether the game remains clear enough at this resolution. |
The bitrate figures are YouTube’s H.264 recommendations, verified October 3, 2026; they are not a measured minimum speed for India. YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not establish an India-wide upload threshold.
Enter the YouTube settings in OBS
- Set the service and ingest. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube, and connect your account or provide the stream key from YouTube Live Control Room. Choose RTMPS when available; YouTube recommends encrypted RTMPS delivery. Keep the key private.
- Set the output mode and bitrate. Open Settings → Output. For the straightforward H.264 setup, select an H.264 encoder and set rate control to CBR. Enter the bitrate that matches your selected resolution and frame rate: 12,000 Kbps for 1080p60, 10,000 Kbps for 1080p30, or 6,000 Kbps for either 720p option. Hardware encoder choices vary by computer and platform; if supported, a hardware encoder may reduce CPU load. OBS’s streaming guide explains that encoder availability depends on hardware and platform.
- Set the keyframe interval. In the encoder’s advanced settings, use 2 seconds. YouTube recommends a 2-second interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds. YouTube encoder settings.
- Match output resolution and FPS. In Settings → Video, set Output (Scaled) Resolution to your chosen stream resolution and Common FPS Value to 30 or 60. The base canvas is the workspace used to position sources; the output resolution determines the stream size. It is fine for the canvas to remain at the game or display composition size. OBS’s guide distinguishes canvas and output resolution.
- Set audio and SDR color. In OBS audio settings, use AAC stereo at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz for the usual SDR stream. Set color to Rec. 709. YouTube supports AAC or MP3 audio and recommends 128 Kbps for stereo. Do not use HDR settings unless the source, encoder, and stream are all configured for HDR; YouTube documents a separate HEVC/HDR workflow. YouTube’s settings guidance.
Test before starting a long rerun
- Use the intended game footage, movement, and audio in an unlisted test stream. A static menu is not a useful test for a fast-moving game.
- Check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and stream health while OBS is running. Listen for missing or distorted game and voice audio, and look for dropped frames or unstable output. YouTube explicitly recommends testing before going live. YouTube’s encoder guidance.
- If 1080p60 is unstable, lower the frame rate to 30 or reduce resolution to 720p, then test again. A speed test is a snapshot; test at the streaming location and account for other devices using the connection.
- If you are recording locally as a backup, verify that the file is growing and the PC remains stable during the test. Separately configured recording quality can consume extra resources. OBS recording guidance.
Enable rewind during the live broadcast
For viewers to pause or seek backward while the rerun is still live, enable DVR in the YouTube live stream’s settings before or while setting up the broadcast. DVR is not the same as the replay available after the stream ends. YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable for live streams longer than 12 hours. YouTube’s DVR guidance.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
Keep a separate archive after the stream
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, and recommends making a local recording as a backup. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Check the archive and its privacy setting after the broadcast rather than assuming the live DVR setting controls post-stream playback. YouTube’s live archive guidance.
Record locally in a resilient format
In OBS, open Settings → Output and configure recording separately if needed. OBS recommends MKV because an unexpected interruption is less likely to corrupt the entire recording than a format that requires a clean stop. If you choose a recording quality other than “Same as stream,” OBS warns that the extra encoding work can use more system resources. OBS’s recording guide.

Troubleshoot common rerun problems
- Stream health warns about bitrate or connection instability: Check whether other devices or uploads are consuming bandwidth, then repeat the test. If the connection still fluctuates, move down to 1080p30 or 720p and test that profile.
- OBS reports rendering or encoding lag: The PC may not have enough headroom for the game and 60-fps encoding together. Test 30 fps, reduce output resolution, or use a supported hardware encoder; encoder choices vary by hardware and platform.
- The stream appears soft or blocky during fast action: Confirm the output resolution and bitrate match the selected YouTube H.264 recommendation. If the connection and PC are stable, test 1080p60 at 12 Mbps rather than assuming a lower-resolution profile will preserve the same detail.
- Viewers cannot rewind while live: Check that DVR is enabled for the stream. Its availability can be limited for streams longer than 12 hours.
- No replay appears after the stream: Check the live archive and privacy settings. YouTube may not capture streams over 12 hours, so retain a local recording for a long rerun.
- A recording is damaged after a crash: Use MKV for future local recordings; OBS recommends it because an interrupted recording is less likely to lose the whole file.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a pre-recorded YouTube rerun live without leaving OBS and your computer running at home, StreamNeo runs the uploaded video from the cloud.
