The Younger contest asks participants to improve biological-age measurements over six months, but a lower score is not proof that someone has reversed aging or extended their life. The competition combines blood-based clocks with cognitive, physical and facial-age measures, each capturing a different slice of health. Its early leaderboard is based on very few baseline results, and the limits of individual biological-age tests remain substantial.
What is the Younger contest?
Younger is a six-month competition organized by Christin Glorioso, a neuroscientist and physician who founded and leads NeuroAge Therapeutics. Roughly 500 people were expected to take part, according to MIT Technology Review in 2026. The contest ranks measured changes in biological-age scores; participants’ chronological ages do not change.

Glorioso has said her goal is to “explain to the world what aging clocks are” and to build “the world’s most comprehensive clock dataset.” Those ambitions are distinct from proving that a contestant has become younger in a medically meaningful sense.
How does the contest measure biological age?
Standard entry
A standard entrant sends a blood-spot sample to TruDiagnostic. The resulting report includes an overall biological-age estimate, pace of aging and estimates for 11 organ systems, including the heart and brain. Participants also complete NeuroAge cognitive tasks for a brain-age score, submit physical measures such as grip strength, and upload selfies to a Harvard-developed app that estimates face age.

Our test kits and processes meet rigorous international standards, so you can trust the authenticity and security of your results.
- Comprehensive Results & Insights: Receive a detailed digital report that not only reveals your biological age but also provides context and guidance. We explain what was tested and what it means for your aging journey , including science-backed recommendations on how to lower your biological age through nutrition, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle changes. It’s like getting a personalized roadmap to improving your healthspan.
Ultra entry
Ultra entrants pay more for additional blood tests and aging clocks, MRI scans and DEXA scans. These are different kinds of measurements, not interchangeable readings from one test.
The different components help explain why a contest may combine them: aging is not one simple quantity, and no single measure captures every aspect. A blood-based clock, a cognitive task, grip strength and a face-age estimate each produce information of a different kind.

Are the TruDiagnostic and NeuroAge tests measuring the same thing?
No. TruDiagnostic’s blood-spot test produces biological-age and pace-of-aging estimates, including estimates for organ systems. NeuroAge’s tasks generate a brain-age score from cognitive performance. The contest also uses grip strength and a facial-age estimate. These measures can be considered together, but they do not all measure the same biological signal or establish one definitive age.

What does a biological-age clock actually measure?
Clocks can use chemical signatures on DNA, proteins, lipids, functional measures or predictions related to mortality. There are more than 100 clocks, and each may reflect a different aspect of aging. An estimate is therefore a model-based score derived from particular inputs—not a direct reading of a person’s true age at the cellular or whole-body level.

Researchers do not fully understand what every clock captures, and the use of these scores to estimate one individual’s biological age remains controversial. As MIT Technology Review put it, biological-age clocks are “not good enough for that yet” as a definitive individual measure. They should not be treated as a diagnosis or a reliable prediction of how long a particular person will live.
Can grip strength or face age change a biological-age score?
They can affect the contest’s component measurements: grip strength is a physical-function measure, and the app estimates face age from selfies. Neither is the same as the blood-based clock. A change in one measure may reflect a change in that specific test rather than a broad reversal of aging, so it matters which component a leaderboard reports and how the contest combines its results.

How does Younger decide who wins?
The reported winner categories are the person with the largest difference between chronological and biological age, and the person who reverses biological age the most. These are rankings based on the contest’s chosen measurements. A large gap or a reduced score does not, by itself, show that a contestant’s health or lifespan improved.
What do the early results show?
At the time of MIT Technology Review’s 2026 report, about 120 people had signed up, but only seven had entered baseline measurements. The reported leaderboard included @Fred, whose biological age was 28.8 years below chronological age. Another public entrant, aged 47, was assigned a biological age of 68.1; her chair-rise measure corresponded to age 100.

Those figures are early observations, not settled outcomes. With only seven baselines reported, the leaderboard cannot establish how participants will change over six months or whether any change represents a meaningful improvement in health.
Is six months long enough to show real aging change?
Six months is the contest’s measurement period, but the available reporting does not establish that a change over that interval proves a durable shift in the aging process. Scores can differ by measurement method, and the clocks are not established as definitive measures of an individual’s biological age. A before-and-after result should therefore be read as a change in the reported measures, not proof of becoming younger in a broader medical sense.
What does participation cost?
MIT Technology Review reported standard entry at $999 and ultra entry at $4,499 in 2026. These are the prices reported for the contest at that time; the report does not establish whether they recur or whether they remain current.
