Its appeal is as much visual as functional, but buyers should know about the hidden wireless switch, limited navigation-key access, and lack of a dongle-storage slot.
What the XVX MU68 is—and what it is not
The MU68 FujiWave is a 68-key mechanical keyboard in an ANSI US 65% layout. It keeps the standard letter-and-number area while trimming the footprint compared with a full-size keyboard. The trade-off is that navigation and function-key access is less direct: check the layout and your usual shortcuts before choosing it if you rely on dedicated keys.

It is easy to confuse the MU68 with XVX’s similarly named M68, but they are different products. XVX describes the M68 as a wired, leaf-spring gasket-mounted keyboard with purple switches; the MU68 is tray-mounted, tri-mode wireless, and uses Coral Sea linear switches. XVX’s M68 listing has its own specifications, so those details should not be attributed to the MU68.

Wood, keycaps, and the board’s visual appeal
The walnut case is the MU68’s defining feature. XVX pairs it with metal accents, a leather pendant, and FujiWave-themed keycaps, giving the keyboard a more decorative look than a typical plastic compact board. The finish will not be identical from one unit to another: XVX says natural grain and color vary by piece, and that such variation is not considered a defect or covered by its after-sales service. If you expect a uniform walnut tone, that policy matters.
The dye-sublimated PBT keycaps have a MOA profile. Their legends are not shine-through, according to an owner review, so the RGB is an under-key lighting effect rather than a way to illuminate the letters. That distinction may matter if you prefer bright, easily visible legends in a dark room.

Switches, customization, and typing feel
The stock XVX Coral Sea switches are linear and pre-lubed, and the board supports hot-swapping. That lets you replace switches without soldering, but check switch compatibility and pin configuration before buying replacements. VIA support allows remapping, macros, and lighting adjustments after loading the JSON file for this keyboard model.

Owner impressions are generally positive about the construction and sound, but they are subjective rather than controlled tests. One owner described a balanced sound that was not hollow and a relatively firm tray-mounted feel. Another called the stock switches percussive and changed them for silent switches. Your results will vary with typing style, desk surface, room acoustics, and the switches installed.

One reviewer also reported that Fn+Escape triggered a reset in their configuration. That is an individual report, not a confirmed default behavior across MU68 revisions; check the firmware and key mapping for your exact board before relying on that shortcut.
Connectivity and setup quirks
The MU68 supports USB-C wired operation, Bluetooth, and 2.4 GHz wireless. The wireless controls are less obvious than the connection options suggest: XVX places the power switch beneath the Caps Lock keycap. Its instructions say to turn that switch on before pairing over Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz. XVX also notes that after prior wireless use, plugging in the cable may not return the board to wired mode automatically.

Where is the MU68 wireless power switch?
Remove the Caps Lock keycap to reach the wireless power switch beneath it. Turn the switch on before attempting Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz pairing, as XVX instructs.
How do you switch the MU68 back to wired mode?
If the keyboard remains in wireless mode after you connect the USB-C cable, press FN+T, the shortcut XVX specifies for returning to wired mode.

How do you configure the MU68 with VIA?
- Open VIA’s web configuration interface and connect the MU68.
- Load the JSON configuration file for the MU68 model; XVX says this is required before configuring the keyboard.
- Use VIA to remap keys, create macros, or adjust lighting.
Height, storage, and owner-reported trade-offs
The keyboard measures 31 mm at the north side and 23 mm at the south side, but those case dimensions do not establish a universal ergonomic fit. Individual owners described the board as taller than they prefer; one suggested a wrist rest might help. These are personal impressions, not ergonomic measurements, so consider your existing desk and wrist position rather than assuming a wrist rest is necessary.
Two owner reviews also note that there is no onboard storage slot for the 2.4 GHz dongle. If you move the keyboard between locations, plan to keep the small receiver somewhere safe. Those reviews also mention the Caps Lock-hidden switch as a setup inconvenience.

Before comparing it with another compact board, weigh the points that will shape daily use: navigation access, connection modes, hot-swap compatibility, keycap profile and legend visibility, configuration software, case height, and the sound and feel you prefer. Published manufacturer specifications and individual owner reports can help frame that choice, but they do not establish a broad market ranking.
