The XTU S7Pro looks most compelling as a daylight action camera: New Atlas reviewer Bronwyn Thompson praised its vibrant daytime footage, 152-degree field of view and adjustable stabilization. The same August 29, 2026 review reported a price of US$159.99 at publication, but found noisy, detail-poor video in dim light and called the built-in microphone a weak point. Those trade-offs matter more than the “GoPro alternative” label: the review did not include a controlled comparison with GoPro or other cameras.
What the XTU S7Pro offers
New Atlas described the S7Pro as XTU’s flagship model at the time of its review. The reported feature set includes 4K video at 50 frames per second, a 152-degree field of view, a 1/2-inch Sony IMX586 sensor, a HiSilicon AI image signal processor, Wi-Fi 6 and 48-megapixel still-photo capability. It also has front and rear screens: the front is intended to help with vlogging, while the rear supports touch controls. These are specifications reported in the review, not independently confirmed against an official XTU specification sheet.

The camera offers voice control and a 10-second pre-recording buffer, which can capture the moments immediately before recording is started. Thompson found voice control useful when her hands were occupied, though she needed time to get used to it. She also found that sweaty hands could make the touchscreen’s corner buttons less responsive.

Daylight footage
Thompson’s hands-on review describes the S7Pro’s daytime video as vibrant, and notes low glare in short beach footage. She presents it as a potential all-rounder for daylight activities such as hiking and cycling. That is a favorable review observation, not a guarantee that footage will look the same in every scene or shooting condition.

Stabilization and horizon correction
The review says stabilization can be adjusted between modes labeled “super” and “super enhance,” and that the camera also includes horizon correction. Thompson found stabilization better than she expected at this price, while noting it did not match the standard of a high-end action camera. The review provides no controlled test or quantified comparison with another model.
Dim and night scenes
Low light is the clearest image-quality weakness reported. Thompson says dim and nighttime video becomes noisy and loses detail despite the camera’s built-in AI low-light assistance. The review says still photos fare better than video, but its overall recommendation is strongest for daylight use.

Audio, battery and everyday controls
Built-in microphone
The microphone may be adequate for casual use, but the review does not recommend relying on it for serious face-to-camera recording in most settings. Thompson wrote: “The microphone is adequate, but not one of the strong points, so if you need to record serious face-to-camera footage, you’ll still need an external microphone in most settings.” The review does not identify or verify a compatible external microphone.

Battery and charging
Thompson estimated battery use at about three hours and said fast charging brought it near capacity in under an hour. The review does not describe a standardized runtime test, so treat both figures as the reviewer’s experience rather than guaranteed performance.

What comes in the package—and what you need separately
The review describes the standard package as containing the camera, a battery, a charger and a magnetic mount. A microSD card is required but is not included. The review does not establish a supported card capacity or speed class, so check the camera’s current documentation or seller information before choosing one.
The magnetic quick-release mount attaches to the bottom of the camera. Thompson describes possible setups that include a selfie stick, tripod, dashcam or helmet mount. For water sports such as surfing, the review advises using a waterproof casing. The reviewer did not test the camera in water, and the review does not identify a compatible case or establish its current availability.

Is it a meaningful alternative to a GoPro?
The review frames the S7Pro as a lower-priced alternative to high-end action cameras, but it does not provide a matched, head-to-head test against a GoPro, DJI or Insta360 model. It therefore cannot establish that the S7Pro equals or beats any of them. The useful comparison is about priorities: daytime image quality, stabilization, low-light video, audio, included accessories and the cost of anything you still need to buy.
- It may suit you if daylight footage, a wide field of view, adjustable stabilization and a review-time price below premium action-camera territory are your main concerns.
- Look elsewhere or budget for add-ons if you need clean night video, dependable face-to-camera audio, or a ready-to-use package that includes storage and water protection.
Price and buying considerations
New Atlas reported US$159.99 as the S7Pro’s price when its review was published on August 29, 2026. That is a dated reference price, not a current offer; the review did not verify current stock or retailer pricing. Before buying, confirm the present price, the package contents, the required microSD card specifications, and whether a suitable waterproof case or external microphone is available for your intended use.
