May 2026: captions, microphone cleanup, and setup defaults
Broadcaster version 4.6.2605.2109 added Live Captions, tested with Twitch and YouTube Live. XSplit’s note describes different setup steps by platform:
- YouTube Live: enable Send Caption in the Live Captions tool and Closed Captions in YouTube’s live pre-stream dialog.
- Twitch: Live Captions were also tested with Twitch; check the tool’s current instructions for the relevant setup.
The release added AI Voice Clarity to microphone noise-suppression options. It also changed the pre-stream dialog so it can appear each time or be skipped by reusing prior stream details. The supported services named in the note are Facebook, Kick, Twitch, Vimeo, and YouTube Live.
Audio behavior also changed: Presentation Sources became the default Audio Mode, and Default Speaker and Default Microphones were added to the mixer by default. If audio routing behaves differently after updating, check the selected Audio Mode and the mixer’s speaker and microphone sources.

March: controls, preview workflow, and platform features
Broadcaster 4.5.2603.0506 moved key Stream and Record controls and revamped the Preview Editor workflow. It added YouTube thumbnail support and Dual Stream for eligible users, in-app editing of Twitch broadcast details, and automatic background removal for NDI and Webpage sources. At the time of the release note, YouTube Dual Stream encoder access was limited to select users, and stream-key credentials had to be copied manually. Availability may have changed since then.
January: Spout2 Source
The January 2026 update added Spout2 Source for compatible apps, with XSplit naming VTube Studio and Animaze as examples. This can matter in VTubing workflows that use an application capable of providing Spout2 output.

How to check your version and handle a troublesome update
XSplit describes version numbers as major, minor, and patch components. Its support guidance says it generally supports versions downloadable from its own site, maintains at least two stable releases, and may replace an older version when a newer patch or release arrives. If a new version causes problems, XSplit says users can download the latest previous stable release from its website. See XSplit’s version guidance before reverting.
- Look up the release notes for your installed version and compare them with the latest company update listing.
- If a feature is missing, check whether the release made it available to all users or limited it to eligible or selected users.
- If an update disrupts your workflow, consult XSplit’s support instructions for the previous stable release rather than relying on an old version number from an older support article.
Windows requirements and compatibility
XSplit’s system-requirements page, updated November 11, 2025, lists Broadcaster as Windows-only and specifies Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Its published minimums are 8 GB RAM, a 2nd-generation Intel Core i5 or equivalent processor, 250 MB available storage, and GeForce- or Radeon-class graphics with DirectX 10.1 or better. XSplit recommends a 4th-generation Core i5 or equivalent for 720p and a Core i7 or equivalent for 1080p. These are XSplit’s published requirements, not a guarantee of performance for every scene, game, or encoding workload. Because the page predates the 2026 updates, recheck it before choosing new hardware or an operating system: XSplit Broadcaster system requirements.
Keeping a YouTube stream running when your PC is off
XSplit Broadcaster is a desktop production tool. If your goal is instead to keep uploaded videos looping as a 24/7 YouTube live stream without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service made for that workflow. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed, and it streams to YouTube only.
Or let it run in the cloud
- Upload your video or create a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key.
- Start the stream; StreamNeo loops the content from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home. Uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps, with one price per slot rather than quality tiers. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required (one free day per account). Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
