For a mostly static bhajan stream, a practical XSplit starting point is 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 video at 5 Mbps using CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and stereo AAC audio at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. These are platform-wide YouTube encoder settings, not an India-specific preset; test the actual connection where the stream will run and lower the resolution or bitrate if it cannot sustain them.
Recommended XSplit settings for a bhajan stream
Use these as a starting profile for a static devotional visual with stereo music. YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists 5 Mbps as the minimum and 14 Mbps as the recommended H.264 bitrate for 1080p at 30 fps. The lower starting point can reduce bandwidth demand; it is not a guarantee of stable delivery or a mandatory quality target.

| Setting | Starting value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS, if available in the selected XSplit output | YouTube recommends encrypted RTMPS transport. |
| Video codec | H.264 | YouTube also lists H.265 and AV1 as supported, but use them only if the current XSplit output and encoding hardware support them. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps | A static background and text usually do not need a high frame rate. Choose 720p30 instead if the upload link cannot reliably sustain the higher profile. |
| Rate control | CBR | Constant bitrate is the platform-aligned choice for live encoding. |
| Video bitrate | 5 Mbps starting point | YouTube’s H.264 guidance for 1080p30 is 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended. Higher bitrate can improve image quality but needs more stable upstream capacity. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | Do not exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio codec and bitrate | AAC stereo, 128 kbps | Use 44.1 kHz sample rate. |
| Pixel and color format | Square pixels, progressive scan, Rec. 709 for SDR | These are YouTube’s listed general encoding parameters. |
When 720p30 is the safer choice
YouTube’s H.264 guidance lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for 720p30. Prefer a stable stream over a bitrate your connection cannot sustain. Consider whether on-screen text needs 1080p detail, whether the visual has motion, how much encoding headroom the computer has, and the network conditions your viewers may have.
Prepare YouTube Live before the stream
Enable live streaming on the channel before the planned broadcast. XSplit’s support guide says the channel must be verified and free of live-stream restrictions in the prior 90 days; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Do not leave activation until the day of the event. XSplit’s YouTube Live setup guide explains the requirements.

Set up the scene and YouTube output in XSplit
- Build the scene. In XSplit Broadcaster, create a scene and add the devotional background, image or text, plus the intended bhajan audio source. Play it through and confirm it loops cleanly. Check that desktop sounds or a microphone are not unintentionally mixed into the broadcast. See XSplit’s getting-started guide.
- Create or select the native YouTube output. Open the Broadcast menu, choose the YouTube output, and authorize the channel when prompted. Use the current XSplit interface because menu labels can change. The output dialog lets you configure the stream details.
- Fill in the event details. Set the title, description, tags, category, privacy, latency, and DVR options to suit the channel and event. Review visibility before sending a public broadcast.
- Set the encoder profile. Enter the video and audio values in the output’s encoder settings. Use the baseline above, then check that the selected codec and resolution are available to your particular XSplit build and encoding hardware.
- Test the feed. Send a test stream with representative audio and any motion or transitions you plan to use. Check YouTube’s stream health and the actual upload bitrate while live. A speed-test result alone does not prove sustained streaming capacity; leave headroom for network variation and other household or office traffic.
Schedule an event and start it correctly
Create the event in YouTube Studio, then select it from XSplit’s Live Event list. XSplit’s scheduled-stream guide describes a Manual Transition option that changes who completes the final start action: with it enabled, XSplit sends the feed but the operator still clicks Go Live in Studio; with it disabled, starting the XSplit broadcast can start the YouTube event automatically. Confirm the choice before the scheduled time. Read XSplit’s scheduled YouTube stream instructions.
Use a stream key only when needed
For the usual workflow, use XSplit’s native YouTube integration. If you need a Custom RTMP output instead, copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into that output. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it, show it on screen, or share it in screenshots. XSplit documents the alternate method in its Custom RTMP guide.

Plan around the 24-hour replay limitation
A single 24-hour event is not a dependable way to preserve a complete YouTube replay. Google’s live production guide states, “All streams under 12 hours will be archived.” If a complete replay matters, schedule shorter events below 12 hours and restart between them; consider making a separate local recording for continuity. The published guidance establishes archiving for streams under 12 hours, not that a longer event must stop at the 12-hour mark. Google’s live production guide has the archive guidance.

Devotional subject matter does not by itself clear a recording for livestream use. Rights may apply to the particular sound recording, arrangement, and underlying composition, so confirm permission or another valid basis for the exact use. YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” Ask the relevant rights holder about any required channel allowlisting. No general conclusion about whether a particular bhajan is public domain or cleared follows from its genre or age. See YouTube for Artists’ live music guidance.

Troubleshoot common streaming problems
- YouTube Live is unavailable: verify the channel and check for live-stream restrictions. If live streaming has not been enabled before, allow up to 24 hours for initial activation.
- The stream buffers or drops frames: compare the actual encoder bitrate with sustained upload performance, reduce the bitrate, or move from 1080p30 to 720p30. Retest from the stream location and leave capacity for other network traffic.
- YouTube reports an unhealthy feed: verify the selected codec, CBR mode, keyframe interval, audio settings, and the stability of the upload. Check XSplit’s output settings and YouTube’s live health indicators rather than relying on a speed-test peak.
- The scheduled event does not appear live: check that XSplit is connected to the correct Live Event. If Manual Transition is enabled, finish by clicking Go Live in YouTube Studio.
- The music is muted or receives a copyright claim: review the rights for the exact recording and composition, and contact the label, distributor, or other rights holder. Do not assume devotional or traditional material is automatically cleared.
- The full-day replay is missing or incomplete: a 24-hour event exceeds the under-12-hour archive condition stated in Google’s guide. Use shorter events if the replay is important and keep a separate recording if needed.
Or let it run in the cloud
