There is no brand-wide winner: Xiaomi’s current model-by-model listings give Redmi Pad 2 a longer support timeline than Xiaomi Pad 7. Redmi Pad 2 is listed for Android 16–20 and security updates through August 2032; Xiaomi Pad 7 is listed for Android 16–19 and security updates through March 2031. Other models—including the Pro versions—have different timelines, so compare the exact tablet rather than relying on the Xiaomi or Redmi name.
How Xiaomi and Redmi tablet support compares
Xiaomi’s Security Center lists both future Android versions and a security-update end-of-life date. These are different measures: the Android range indicates listed major-version support, while the EOL date indicates how long security updates are listed. The entries below are Xiaomi’s current table values, checked in 2026; they are not independently guaranteed dates.

Why the exact model matters more than the brand
In this sample, Redmi Pad 2 and Redmi Pad 2 Pro have later listed security-update end dates than Xiaomi Pad 7, but Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro has a much earlier listed EOL than either Redmi Pad 2 model. Redmi Pad Pro 5G also has a different timeline from Redmi Pad 2 and Redmi Pad 2 Pro. “Pro,” “Pad,” and “Redmi” are not reliable ways to infer update longevity.

Confirm the model number on the device or product listing before comparing support. Xiaomi’s guidance says to find it under Settings > About tablet > Detailed info and specs; see its model-identification FAQ.
Android upgrades and security updates answer different questions
Major Android versions
The Android-version range is useful if you want to know how many major OS generations Xiaomi currently lists for a model. It is not a substitute for the security-update date: two tablets can have different OS-version ranges and different security timelines.

Security-update support
Xiaomi’s general policy says it typically maintains security updates for at least two years after a model’s first shipment, and that some models may receive support for three years or longer depending on actual conditions. That broad policy does not establish a specific end date for every tablet; use the model table for the tablet-level entry.

What Xiaomi has stated for the original Redmi Pad
For the original Redmi Pad, Xiaomi India’s FAQ states a commitment of three years of security updates and two Android and MIUI version updates over three years. This statement is specific to the original Redmi Pad FAQ in India; it should not be applied to every Redmi tablet or assumed to describe availability in every region. Xiaomi’s global HyperOS 3 page placed Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro in the October–November 2025 rollout group, and Redmi Pad 2, Redmi Pad 2 Pro, and Redmi Pad 2 Pro 5G in the November–December 2025 group. Those are rollout windows, not software-support end dates. Xiaomi says supported-model lists and schedules can change, updates may arrive in stages, and availability can vary by region. The schedule is for global versions outside mainland China; check the global HyperOS 3 page for its current information.

How to check an update on a Redmi Pad Pro
- Open Settings > About tablet to view the Android version.
- To check for an available update, open Settings > About tablet > Xiaomi HyperOS > Check for updates.
Xiaomi documents these paths in its Redmi Pad Pro update FAQ. A manual check reports whether an update is currently available to that device; it does not change the model’s listed support end date.

- Between Xiaomi Pad 7 and Redmi Pad 2: Xiaomi’s current table favors Redmi Pad 2 on both listed future Android versions (16–20 versus 16–19) and security-update end date (August 2032 versus March 2031).
- Considering Pro models: compare their exact names. Redmi Pad 2 Pro is listed through October 2032, while Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro is listed through March 2028; Redmi Pad Pro 5G is listed through August 2027.
- Buying in a particular region: verify the regional variant and current model entry. A rollout schedule or commitment published for one region should not be treated as a universal promise.
The comparison is based on Xiaomi’s model-specific Security Center listings, checked in 2026. Those entries are the clearest available basis for comparing these tablets’ listed Android and security timelines.
