Gizmochina’s October 5, 2026 comparison puts the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max at about $1,200 and the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max at about $950, but its own pricing caveat notes that prices vary by country, timing, and taxes. China launch reports list different starting prices in yuan, so compare the same storage configuration in your market before deciding whether HONOR is genuinely cheaper.
How much cheaper is the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max?
Gizmochina’s October 5 comparison estimates prices of $1,200 for Xiaomi and $950 for HONOR, creating the title’s $250 difference. Those figures are market-dependent estimates, not a confirmed like-for-like international price check. Gizmochina’s comparison says price can vary with country, region, launch timing, and taxes.

China launch reporting offers a separate reference point: Android Central reported starting prices of 6,999 CNY for Xiaomi and RMB 6,499 for HONOR. Those are entry prices in China, not guaranteed local prices or prices for matching storage tiers. Do not combine the China figures with the dollar estimates to infer a global discount.

What each phone offers for the money
Xiaomi: a rear display as a distinctive extra
Android Central’s September 23, 2026 launch report describes the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max with a 6.9-inch main display, a three-camera array, and a 2.9-inch rear display. The rear screen is the clearest distinguishing hardware feature in the available reporting; whether it is useful depends on how you would use a second display. Xiaomi is also positioned around Leica-branded camera hardware, but the cited reporting does not establish that it takes better photos than HONOR.

HONOR: creation-focused video features and charging specifications
Android Central’s September 28, 2026 report describes HONOR’s ARRI partnership and cinema-oriented video features, as well as an 8,800mAh battery, 100W wired charging, and 80W wireless charging. These are reported specifications and feature positioning, not independently measured runtime or charging results. HONOR CEO James Li described the Magic Series as being “born for creation”; that is company positioning rather than evidence of image quality.

Does the $250 change which one to buy?
It can, but only after you confirm the price difference for the exact phones available to you. If HONOR is about $250 less for the same storage and comparable local coverage, its stated battery capacity and charging specifications plus its video-focused features may make the lower price attractive. If Xiaomi’s rear display is a feature you will use, that may justify paying more—but the sources do not show that Xiaomi is the better camera phone or that its extra display is worth a specific amount.

There is no reliable overall winner in the available evidence. No controlled camera comparison or named independent battery test is provided, and specifications alone cannot establish real-world image quality, runtime, or speed. Treat video tools, camera branding, battery capacity, and charging wattage as decision factors to verify against your own needs, not proof of performance superiority.

Check regional availability before buying
The launch coverage describes China launches: Xiaomi in September 2026 and HONOR on September 28, 2026. HONOR’s report says other key international markets are planned without giving dates; Xiaomi’s report says global details were forthcoming. That does not establish broad international availability. For an imported or newly listed model, verify the details that determine whether the price is truly comparable:
- Same storage configuration and any other hardware variant.
- Final local price, including sales tax, import duties, and shipping.
- Network bands and carrier compatibility in your country.
- Warranty coverage, repair options, and seller support.
- Software and region support, including the update commitment applicable to the version being sold.
The cited reports do not settle country-specific network, warranty, or software-support details. Confirm them with the seller or manufacturer for the exact regional variant; do not assume a China model has the same support or terms as a local release.
