Neither Xfinity nor GFiber is the clear winner for every home: availability and the offer at your address decide the value. GFiber’s listed plans advertise symmetrical upload and download speeds, include Wi-Fi equipment, and have no data caps. Xfinity’s current plans include unlimited data and a gateway, but its upload speeds and final price need checking for the specific address—and legacy customers may still have a data cap.

GFiber lists three plans: Core 1 Gig for $70 per month, Home 3 Gig for $100 per month, and Edge 8 Gig for $150 per month. GFiber advertises symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 1, 3, and 8 Gbps, respectively. These are listed prices and plans; confirm availability at the home before comparing them with Xfinity. GFiber plan details

Xfinity describes its five-year guarantee as locking the base monthly rate without an annual contract, but qualifying offers and customers, additional charges, and installation terms matter. GFiber says its flat rate does not increase after the first year and that it has no annual contract or early termination fee. Upload speed may matter as much as download speed
GFiber advertises symmetrical speeds on its listed tiers, meaning the advertised upload and download rates are the same. That can suit frequent large uploads, video calls, remote work, and creator workflows.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Xfinity describes its service as fiber-powered, but the connection to premises uses coaxial cable. Its national plans pages and 2025 announcement emphasize download tiers; the exact upload speed offered at a particular home must be checked in the current address-specific plan details. Do not infer an Xfinity upload rate from its download-speed label. Comcast’s June 26, 2025 announcement Xfinity Internet service

Verify serviceability before switching
Both providers require an address check to determine whether service—and which plans—are available. Run the exact home address through each provider before choosing or scheduling a change. What to know about a wired multi-gig setup
If you want to test a wired multi-gig connection on GFiber Edge 8 Gig, Google’s setup guidance discusses Cat6A-or-newer cabling. The cable is only one part of the chain: the adapter, network port, and computer or other device must also support the desired speed. A faster cable cannot make a slower port or device perform at multi-gig rates. Google Fiber 8 Gig setup guidance

How to choose between Xfinity and GFiber
- Give upload performance more weight if you regularly send large files, back up data, or rely on video calls; verify Xfinity’s address-specific upload rate.
- For a household with ordinary browsing and streaming needs, compare the actual monthly total, data terms, and Wi-Fi equipment included rather than paying for a higher speed tier by default.
- Consider GFiber if its symmetrical listed speed, no-cap policy, and stated flat-rate terms suit your needs and it is available at your address.
- Consider Xfinity if its current eligible offer and service meet your needs; make sure the upload rate, equipment, and any legacy data-cap terms are clear.
