Xeal Plans 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs at U.S. EV Charging Sites

Xeal plans to place more than 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs in edge-compute pods at EV charging properties, with the first installation planned by the end of 2026.

Xeal plans to deploy more than 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs in edge-compute pods at U.S. EV charging properties through a proposed network called Laitent. The rollout is not yet established as complete: Xeal says the first pod, hosted by JVM Realty, is planned by the end of 2026.

What Xeal announced

In a September 18, 2026 announcement, Xeal said Laitent would use electrical infrastructure at more than 1,600 properties. The company describes that footprint as having more than 200 MW of permitted, installed capacity and says it intends to deploy more than 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs across the network. These are company-reported figures, not independently audited measurements. Xeal’s announcement sets out the plan.

Xeal also says it could eventually unlock more than 1 GW of existing headroom across its real-estate and EV-charging deployments. That is an expansion opportunity the company describes, not a statement that 1 GW is currently available to Laitent.

How the GPU pods are meant to work

Power from charging sites

Xeal’s premise is that EV charging properties may have more permitted electrical capacity than their chargers typically use. It says charging locations commonly operate below 10% of their permitted maximum load, leaving headroom that dynamic power orchestration could direct to computing. Data Center Dynamics has also reported this figure, but the cited coverage does not independently validate it. Data Center Dynamics’ report discusses the proposal.

  • OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)

  • Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis

In practice, the plan depends on available capacity at each site and on coordinating compute demand with charging demand. The announcement does not provide site-by-site load profiles or explain how much power will be assigned to each pod.

Pod design and cooling

Xeal says a Laitent Pod is roughly the size of a parking space and can hold up to 48 NVIDIA Hopper or Blackwell Ultra GPUs. The company describes a self-contained cooling system, no need for a water hookup, a NEMA 4 outdoor enclosure, noise below 65 decibels and installation in hours. These are company-disclosed specifications; Xeal has not identified exact GPU SKUs, pod counts, or configurations for individual sites.

Latency and networking

Xeal characterizes its Metro Edge locations as offering latency below 20 milliseconds. It has not published a measurement method, workload, or independent benchmark with the claim, so it should be read as a company target or representation rather than a verified result. Xeal identifies Spectrum Business as the provider of dedicated enterprise fiber and Rafay Systems as its AI infrastructure orchestration partner.

Deployment timeline, partners and customer commitment

Xeal says JVM Realty will host the first pod, with that installation planned by the end of 2026. The company also says an unnamed Tier 1 inference provider has signed for up to 5 MW of compute. Its identity and contract terms have not been disclosed. The public announcement does not give a full rollout schedule or confirm that GPU purchases or installations have been completed.

Xeal’s announcement is distributed through Business Wire. Additional technical and deployment details are described in Data Center Dynamics’ coverage; operational claims in those accounts largely originate with Xeal.

What property owners might gain—and what remains unproven

Xeal says property owners could receive fixed rent or ancillary revenue from hosting pods, with power costs covered through a tenant pass-through. It projects that the installations could add as much as $1 million to property value with little or no upfront investment. Those figures are promotional projections, not independently verified returns or valuations; the announcement does not provide the assumptions needed to assess them.

The company presents the approach as a way to bring inference compute online faster by using already permitted, grid-connected sites rather than waiting for new data-center construction. Whether that translates into faster service or dependable economics will depend on site power availability, networking, workload needs and actual deployment results. The available sources do not establish live pods, measured latency, verified utilization, or achieved property returns.

What to watch as the plan develops

  • Whether the first JVM Realty pod is installed by the end-of-2026 target.
  • Which GPU models and configurations Xeal deploys, and how many pods are installed.
  • How site-specific power capacity is allocated between charging and compute.
  • Whether Xeal publishes independently measured latency, performance, and operating results.
  • Whether the unnamed inference provider and its up-to-5-MW commitment are clarified.
