Choose Xbox Game Pass if you want a broad catalog from multiple publishers, with cloud play and other benefits on eligible plans. Choose Ubisoft+ Premium if the Ubisoft games you want—and, where available, their Premium editions—are the main reason you’re subscribing. The right pick depends on your games, device, Game Pass tier, and current price in your region.

What each service is designed to offer
Xbox Game Pass has several tiers, not one fixed package
Xbox’s US overview lists Ultimate, Premium, Essential, and PC Game Pass. Ultimate is the broadest bundle in this comparison: Xbox describes it as providing 500+ games across Xbox console, PC, and supported devices, plus day-one games, cloud gaming, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics. Catalog size, features, and availability vary by plan, region, and platform. See Xbox’s current plan overview.

Premium is a different proposition: Xbox describes 200+ games across console, PC, and supported devices, with cloud gaming. Xbox-published new games join its library within 12 months of launch, so it does not offer those releases on day one. Essential includes 50+ games, online console multiplayer, and in-game benefits, but no new release titles on day one. PC Game Pass is PC-focused and includes day-one titles and EA Play; do not assume it has all of Ultimate’s cross-device features. Xbox’s plan comparison.

Which subscription is right for your games?
Pick Game Pass when variety matters more than one publisher
- You want a rotating selection across multiple publishers rather than primarily Ubisoft titles.
- You want day-one releases and can choose Ultimate or PC Game Pass, depending on where you play.
- You would use extras such as cloud gaming, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, or Ubisoft+ Classics included with Ultimate.
- You want a plan that covers more than one device category, after confirming that your chosen plan and games support those devices.
Pick Ubisoft+ Premium when Ubisoft releases are your priority
- You already know which Ubisoft games you want to play and they are currently in the catalog.
- You want eligible Ubisoft releases on day one or early access when available.
- You care about Premium editions or included DLC, and have checked what is included for each specific game.
- You play on PC through Ubisoft Connect or on a supported Xbox console and have confirmed availability for your region and game.
Consider Ubisoft+ Classics only if its PC catalog is enough
Classics is not another name for Premium: Ubisoft describes it as a PC selection with standard editions, while Premium is the tier tied to the broader set of benefits, including Xbox play and eligible day-one releases. Compare the live catalog with your intended games before deciding which, if either, fits.

Check platform and game availability before paying
“Available on the service” does not necessarily mean available on every device. Xbox lists cloud gaming on supported consoles, Windows PCs, handhelds, phones and tablets, selected TVs, Meta VR headsets, and a browser, but device, region, and title support vary. PC Game Pass does not include Xbox Cloud Gaming. Xbox cloud and plan details.

A simple way to decide
- Write down the games you intend to play. Check each one in the current catalog for the service, tier, region, and device you plan to use.
- Choose the release timing you need. For Xbox day-one access, consider Ultimate or PC Game Pass; for eligible Ubisoft day-one releases, consider Premium. Xbox Premium adds Xbox-published games within 12 months instead.
- Match the tier to your platform. Verify download or stream support for the exact device; do not treat PC Game Pass, Xbox console access, and cloud gaming as interchangeable.
- Compare local checkout totals. Check monthly versus annual terms and current regional prices for both services, as applicable.
- Account for subscription churn. If you need lasting access to a particular game, a subscription catalog is not a permanent license; check the relevant purchase option and terms.
