Xbox Free Play Days is a limited-time tryout of selected games for eligible Game Pass members; Game Pass is subscription access to a changing library. Neither gives you permanent ownership. To keep playing when an offer ends or a game leaves the library, you may need to buy it separately.
How Free Play Days and Game Pass differ

What you can play during Free Play Days
Xbox describes Free Play Days as a chance for eligible members to try selected games for a limited time and says to check weekly for new offers. The lineup is an event listing, not a fixed part of every plan. Check the official Free Play Days page for the title, eligibility, and offer window that apply to you.

As a current example, Xbox’s US event page lists Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and displays a separate purchase price. That listing can change, so confirm the live offer and price in your market before acting.

What Game Pass lets you play
Game Pass provides access to a catalog while your subscription is active, but it is not a promise that every game will remain available. If your subscription expires or is canceled, or a title leaves the catalog, that access ends. Xbox also says catalog titles, counts, features, and availability vary over time and by region, plan, and platform.

Xbox’s US plan page lists Ultimate, Premium, Essential, and PC Game Pass, with different libraries and features. The right plan depends on the games and platform you want; do not assume every tier includes the same catalog or benefits. Check the current plan details for your region.
How to keep playing after access ends
- Check why access is ending. A Free Play Days offer has a limited event window. Game Pass access depends on both an active subscription and the game staying in the catalog.
- Look for a separate purchase. If you want to continue outside the applicable access window, check the game’s current store listing for a purchase option, edition, platform, and price.
- Confirm the details before buying. Offers, prices, editions, and platform availability can vary. The Free Play Days listing for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an example of a displayed purchase price, not a guarantee that the same price or edition is available everywhere.
What the access comparison does not establish
The official Xbox information cited here does not establish how long save data remains available after access ends, whether particular add-ons remain usable, or whether a purchase grants access across platforms. Do not assume those outcomes from Free Play Days or a Game Pass subscription; check the specific game and platform terms for them.
